I am happy we were able to teach a bit about what goes on underground. I hope to have the world continue to join in on expeditions and learn about what's going on!
This is flaring my anxiety just watching, well done guys but this a hard nope from me. The start where its a bit roomy seems nice but then when it gets real tight is just.....nope 😂 Stay safe out there! 💙
Tbh, this actually looks fun. It's not too narrow and claustrophobic although it was a bit scary by the end. Also, silly question but wasn't it extremely cold down there? How did you manage it?
The physical effort increases body warmth. You can see it issuing from attire or flesh as a pale translucent vapor. It soon fills cave areas with low air movement with a cold wet fog. I've camped underground. All attire laid outside your sleeping bag will be either be found chilly or clammy when your slumber ends.

Thank you. I recommend, CAVES OF CALIFORNIA but it is hard to locate. I remember UCSC had a copy, which was stolen, shortly after it went where students could find it. A second copy was donated and it went into UCSC Special Collections. That was also stolen. I'm a graduate of UCSC but aren't stupid enough to donate my copy of CAVES OF CALIFORNIA for UC access.
Oh holy crap that's wild, I think I'm gonna stay with the above ground explores. Wowee. Is the background music creator studio music? If so I would love to show this video to viewers on my Tuesday livestream.
What if the above ground explores have a substantial underground basement that happens to lead into some tunnels? The music is not from Creator Studios, however, youtube seems to not have picked up on it as the volume might be low enough to avoid detection. If you care to use any of the content on here please feel free!
I caved a lot in upstate NY, back in the late seventies and early eighties. Slingerland's Hellhole is one I never heard of. Is it a newly discovered cave, or just a very well kept secret? Looks rather sporting!
Its near the MA border. Part of the Slingerlands Cave Conservation which pays for the land. I don't think its too big of a secret. It is actually one of 3 or 4 caves on the same property. The others being Georges surprise which might connect and was a VERY cool cave that I didn't get footage of. Along with. roadside cave and a few unnamed passages as well. I went with the Boston Grotto. They would be able to tell you more!
Am I the only one who was kinda shoked seeing that one of the guy has running shoes on, its winter the water must be freezing cold, wouldn’t he be at risk of hypothermia?
That would be me... I grew up exploring sewers in winter time while walking around with sneakers full of holes from parkour. This year is the first year I have suitable winter boots 😅 Edit: I was wearing a 7mm wetsuit which kept me pretty warm other than my feet!
@@sputnikspacecraft Well yes. I learned of that story right when getting into the hobby. Since I have been in it, I've heard of others deaths as well. It's part of it and our ancestry: miners, cavemen, explorers, refugees, all have died in caves for millennia. Its sad, and I pray people are safe while underground.

I can't really give an exact location. But if you live in NY or New England you can join a Grotto ( I went with the Boston Grotto ) and if you ask the members they'll show you how to get there. Grotto fees are cheap and cost like $15 or $20 for the year

@@rhyno_777 Very fair. Every cave is different! I didn't do any caves that had water or this kind of complexity for a few years, one may be able to find bigger, dryer caves to start out with
Very funny. While this may be true with certain caves of unconsolidated gravels. This cave is made of dissolved rock and is incredibly sturdy. They probably wouldn't even collapse during an earthquake.
This cave was mostly free of spiders! Far too wet for them. I certainly have several videos that have a lot more spiders in them. Its mostly a challenge trying not to accidentally squish them or even worse... squishing a slug
I have many responses to your question. Alas one finds a cave much in the way you found the youtube video of a cave; either we seek it out, or stumble across it. As for Why? Because Adventure Awaits!
It wasn't too bad in person. Its the same as sitting in a running stream, but the enclosed nature makes it echo a bit more. The water was cold! We were all wearing wetsuits though, so we were nice and warm.
This one didn't have too much crawling. There was another cave next door (its located on the same map and would potentially connect where its flooded at the end) and that one starts with a long crawl like you describe but goes underneath itself into a ravine and ends up being very cool
Preferably no one gets stuck... Admittedly the trip after this one someone did wedge their helmet in a passage and we had to cut the strap for them to get out and retrieve it.
Well, I am not supposed to take any of the fossils or other goodies. You'll be happy to hear I have found Silver, Gold, Sapphire and other buried goodies since.
I have an update to this. Probably found a Diamond at Crater of Diamonds, left the gravel in my backyard and someone through the diamond gravel away. 😢
