almost three years ago , I was headed north on US 95 in Idaho, just coming down from White Bird towards Grangeville it was almost white out and I was lucky enough that a woman snowplow operator was at the turn around area.. she was so nice and she slowed a bit so I can follow her all the way past Ferdinand.. I was pulling an empty and was trying to get to the papermill in Lewiston to pick up a load going to California.. shout out to all of those snowplow operators and specially to the lady operator who helped me get through that situation..

No one who has actually driven on black ice would ever consider this anything like black ice! This is like you would find in the ice tray in your freezer. There is nothing different about this. Ice on the road does not make it black ice. Black ice is a particular phenomenon. That phenomenon was not present today. Further, black ice has particular properties. This ice had none of those properties. You need to go back and re-read what I wrote. Think about it, and understand it. Your reply indicates your failure to do any of those things.

This isn't every year. I think '83 was the last time it was this bad? It's all relative to where you reside. I suppose you may be dealing with more wrinkles. No need for clothes dryers though is what I've heard from a friend who lived in Arizona or New Mexico, but it's so dry. Faces appear to look like a road map.

You guys need more plow trucks. The conditions are horrible and extremely dangerous! In Canada, where this is common, they work together by plowing all the lanes on highways at the same time, it sucks when you’re stuck behind them, but the road gets much cleaner and safer.
Voters are idiots in these parts. They vote Republican because they hate government, yet they complain about not having enough DOT plows after they voted to slash the taxes to pay for the DOT plows!
The roads are better before the plows scrape off tge traction, leaving only ice. Yes, plowing 1 lane at a time makes driving very dangerous. They have plows here that can plow 7 lanes at a time.
If you couldn't drive in this without the plows, you should NEVER drive on public roads. You are one of the many incapable drivers who pose a safety hazard to everyine else.
That guy towing a trailer passing another couple vehicles reminds me of a similar guy in Montana a few years back. Icy, low visibility and he went blowing on by with his trailer at 80 MPH like it was summertime.
If you are out in this, have your hazard lights on and don't go over 10 mph. Think, black ice, too. Thia saves lives and even though you may get home late, you WILL get home! Otherwise, best to plan ahead with groceries and supplies and stay home!

Use common sense. If you’re driving with the flow of traffic do not have your hazards on. Do you think the other drivers arent aware of the snow? Short true story: I live in charlotte. Drove to Chicago, to pick up a nephew. New years eve, we drive to LA. Took 2 long days. Ready to return now, via the Southern Route, same as we came, however, this requires rt 44 from OKC to St. Louis, then 55 to Chicago. That's hundreds of miles of slow, slippery, risky driving. We'd better stay another night or two here in Venice Beach.
I’m so glad I work from home in STL & don’t have to deal with this anymore. Grocery store is 1/4 mile away, as is my Walgreens & gas stations. Love living in mid-south west county.

Just a few years ago the snow got so bad on the highway that my then 2017 Honda Civic actually got stuck on the highway. The show was so high the front of my car popped up and I got no traction.
I agree with the no lights. Hazards should be off, unless they are actually in an emergency situation. Driving in this is no big deal. Just finished 5 hours of driving in it. Generally, I like my space, but this is typical driving for sone, but for many if you, likely once in 6 years. If you don't drive in this 6 months out of the year, you should stay off the roads. That'll give the rest if us space, and will keep the roads safe.

I am just saying think ahead on this when it comes to your car or truck put Vaseline on your door seals and it will not be frozen shut, keep de icer spray for your windows and let the car warm up with the sun viser down with it on defrost to help you in cleaning the windshield off.
