I had a CH compressor and it was the worst buy I ever made at Lowes. It stopped pumping up at about 3 months of use and I would have to dump all the air to get the sensor to tell the compressor to come on and pump it up. I changed the switch assembly and it was fine for about a year and then the same thing started again. I was not using this thing all the time and when I did use it, it would run fine one time and then the next stop filling up such that I would have to stop working and let all the air out to get it running again. I sold it at a yard sale and picked up a 30-gallon, oil compressor, from Home Depot and it has been running flawlessly for over 3 years. I can run 6 air guns on it with no problems and it is a lot quieter than the CH oil-free compressor I had before. Interestingly, before I purchased the CH, I used a Porter Cable pancake compressor for 5 or 6 years and it is still in my garage working to this day.
CH and Lowe's couldn't be a worst combination. Lowes don't carry parts or provide tech support even under warranty. To run a air sander without having to wait for the compressor you would need a 1000 cfm compressor, as in 99% of the cases the cfm is referred to the air intake not outlet, and the inlet is at atmospheric pressure, the outlet is 7-10 bar

Hello Does air compressor work by pulling the surrounding air in and I plug it in with 120v socket or do I need to do a full install by routing hoses to the outside of the garage etc? Basically how do i install a air compressor? Thank you
Hola ,una consulta la marca Campbell hausfeld es americana? O china? Por q aki en Perú quise comprar una compresora de aire de 2hp de 8 galones y en la caja y la máquina dice hecho en china
Ok, this will be my first air compressor. It's basically for an electric stapler for the baseboard and trim throughout the house, using 1" long Staples. I'd like to not go over $150. Would you make it easy for me and suggest 2 or 3? Thanks. I will take advice from any guys on here that have the knowledge that I don't.
clothes washers are 110 v not 220. i think you meant dryers ? For longevity especially if you use your compressor daily , consider a galvanized or stainless steel tank . this will al but eliminate any chance of your compressor blowing up due to faulty check valves .
question, how is it that big Ingersoll-Rand Garage Mate 20 gallon tank and 2 HP packs only 5.5 CFM and little Makita MAC5200 5.5 gallon tank Big Bore 3.0 HP gives 6.5 CFM?
Nice video, Mike...I'm also shopping around for a 50Ft., 1/2" heavy duty rubber hose, on a reliable retractable reel, to handle any & all automotive air tools in the garage...what are your favorite 2 hoses on reels? Thanks! :)
I want an 80 gallon 2-stage compressor. I don't have a spare 240v outlet but I do have a portable generator that can output 240v. Would running the air compressor on a generator work, or would it burn out the electric motor prematurely?
Make sure your generator has enough power to run the generator. That compressor motor on startup could have 6 times the continuous current. The generator should have enough to override that inrush current, else it would trip or stalled.
What would be the minimum air compressor for a Framing nail gun? Im looking at compressors on a budget. Would love your opinion. Thank you in advance!!
Hi, I have a question. is it the compressor or the air lines that I need to look for to get the lug nuts etc. to get the job done on car? Ex if I have a 2.5 gal tank and 1/2” hose and fitting is it enough to get my lugnuts and other bolts done or I have to get bigger tank? Thanks!
Hello,Thanks for reaching out. Both the compressor and air lines should be considered for use with an impact wrench to remove lug nuts. Minimum tank size for an air compressor for this application would be 15 gallon. The ½’ hose would work best for this application. If you have additional questions please feel free to call our customer service team at 800-543-6400 and we would be happy to assist you.Have a great day!Thank you, Campbell Hausfeld
Pretty much anything. Tires are only run around 30-35 PSI or so. Even cheap compressors will do 125 PSI. The higher the CFM the quicker a compressor will fill large tires, but you don't absolutely need a high CFM for tire filling. That's why you can buy tiny 12v air compressors. Low CFM but they can still handle the PSI required. Just takes them some time to do the job.
I dont understand about how does psi or cfm or scfm related to the rpm or touque ability (for example to disassemble a car's engine requires 155 Nm of torque). So would 5.2cfm at 40 psi with 2 horse power could supply 155Nm of torque?
For air tools like and impact wrench you need two things: 1. high PSI 150+ 2. flow that means at least 3/8" ID air hose that is not longer than 30 feet. Use 50' hose? then plan to crank the psi to 175psi. OR use the Earthquake series from harbor freight - tools designed to operate at full torque below 150psi. Don't worry about cfm for impact wrench - the air in the tank is plenty when full.
Hello I bought the Campbell Hausfeld 3-Gallon Compressor to use it with the "EWK 6.5L Pneumatic Manual Oil Extractor Pump Vacuum Fluid Evacuator Motor Engine Oil Changer" to remove the oil from my Mini Cooper S 2006 directly from the Oil Measure tube. The issue is that I have to fill the tank up to around 90 to start using it and then it last like 30-40 seconds and then I have to redo the process. I want an air compressor that can last the whole process of removing the oil in one pass not 5-7 passes like the one I got. I'm evaluating now the Campbell Hausfeld 8 Gal Quiet Air Compressor , do you think this will be better option for me or do you have another recommendation. I will do this like once every 6 months and from time to time fill my tires with air. Thanks for your great review.
Hey Manuel, We suggest double checking the SCFM rating on your EWK Oil Extractor to properly size a compressor. If the extractor has a pneumatic features, this should be in the owner's manual.
@@manuelbenavente6226 Sadly, without knowing the SCFM requirements, it's difficult to determine the air compressor size that you would need. Perhaps reaching out to EWK would be worthwhile to find the amount of flow you need.
Husky 30 gal 1.7 HP 6.4 scfm at 40 PSI 78dBA vs California 10 gal 2 HP 6.4 cfm at 40 psi 70dBA, which is better? More powerful? I would like to sandblast metal fences (protectors) and paint metal.
We have a 2 stage at my work and before I worked there they had the great idea to make all of the piping out of pvc so one day I was shutting off the pvc main air valve and it blew up in my face. I was fine but sure did hurt haha. So don’t use pvc piping if you plan on making more then one air outlet.
I have PVC Piping in my Shop for over 15 Years now and never had a problem. PVC is the single most economical way to plump air! Problems will arise when People are too stupid to not regulate the pressure coming from the tank.
Hi Andy. Thanks for asking. Below is some information that helps answer your questions. If you have any additional questions, feel free to email our customer service team by visiting our website: campbellhausfeld.com/?target=contact Stage refers the number of times intake air is compressed in a pump. A single stage compressor compresses intake air one time before sending the air into a storage tank. Two-stage air compressors compress air two times before sending air into a storage tank. A two-stage compressor has a minimum of two cylinders; a low-pressure cylinder (largest) and a high-pressure cylinder (smallest). Air is compressed once in the larger cylinder and then sent through an air cooling tube. Upon reaching the small cylinder, the air is compressed again then sent into a storage tank. Two-stage air compressors produce a larger volume of air at higher pressures than single stage compressors. CFM is air measured when it is pressurized. SCFM, also known as “Free Air”, is air measured when it is not pressurized. SCFM takes into account standard temperature and pressure. CFM is typically referred to as Actual Cubic Feet per Minute. The following formula is used to determine SCFM: SCFM=ACFM (Pa/Ps*Ts/Ta) Pa =Actual pressure, Ps=Standard pressure (14.7psi), Ta=Actual temperature, Ts=Standard temperature (528 degrees Rankine) Here are the equations to convert CFM to SCFM and to convert SCFM to CFM: SCFM=ACFM (Pa/14.7psi)(528 degrees R/Ta) ACFM=SCFM (14.7psi/Pa)(Ta/528 degrees R)

Dumb question. I have a V pump. Does that mean it's a 2 stage? Also I'm looking to replace it. Do I have to use the same brand because it's been discontinued. What has to match up. And how do I know horse power. I have a Campbell Hausfeld HS750000P right now. I know this an old thread. Thanks for any help. Or I need a piston or valve rebuild kit which I cant find. One of the rubber seals is broke.
Just keep using what you have. Search for a seal - most are the same and if not harbor freight sells new pumps. two cylinder beats one and it's quieter.
i have some questions? im just starting out with air tools. i do car audio fabrication so i only use them for 5 to 10 mins at a time. i really just cut out 6 to 15 inches of plastics here and there or grind down plastics and thin metals. but not for long periods of time. HOW big of a compressor do you think il need and how much psi or cfm? this stuff really confuses me i could use the help lol. and i have small hands so i hate big tools lol i just want a angle grinder and a mini saw. and how long does a tool last say at 100psi on a small 10 gal tank. (if you were too just hold the trigger down) a round about?
Leonie, The best way to size the air compressor would be to see what the SCFM/CFM rating at a given pressure or PSI is for the tool being used. Then you would look for a compressor that produces at least that amount of SCFM/CFM at the given pressure, or more would be even better. Based on your comments it would be best to get at least a 30 gallon compressor.
thank you so much for the help... I'm looking to buy one tomorrow. I'm prolly going to buy a used 21 gallon 125psi 2.5hp I can't find any 30 gallons or more in my price range. I'm sort of on a tight budget. Then I'll buy tools that work well with the compressor
Tammy, we spoke with our tech service team and the fitting that is at the switch is a ¼” NPT. The only way to increase this is to purchase an adapter or a another pressure switch with 1/2” ports. We don’t offer one and they do not know if it is even made. If you have any additional questions please feel free to reach out to our Tech Service team at 1-800-543-6400 8:00-4:30 EST

Hey artiga16, If you're operating a tire and/or lube shop the CE7000 (1ph) or CE7001 (3ph) 80 gallon units should work fine. If you do body work (sanding/painting) they will need a larger air compressor like a 120 gallon.
Hi Felix. Thanks for asking. The minimum gallon size to run the full line would be 30-gallons, however, this will vary depending on what tools you are using and what application it is for. Don't forget to partition it off so it doesn't get filthy and when painting (if you do that) paint gets in the compressor and destroys it.
Check out a Quincy 350 or 370 or 390 pump. If you get lucky you might find one cheap
Yes Michael, I need to do something like that to my emergency generator without burning it up. lol
Must have a oiless compressor
Those are soo noisy

To run a air sander without having to wait for the compressor you would need a 1000 cfm compressor, as in 99% of the cases the cfm is referred to the air intake not outlet, and the inlet is at atmospheric pressure, the outlet is 7-10 bar
What. Atmospheric pressure is 14.7 so all air compressors that don't have a cfm rating above 14.7 what's up with them

I noticed in one of your latest videos you had to ditch that compressor when you got a media blast cabinet. At least now you have the type of compressor that men use. LOL! You did provide some good accessory info in this vid. Thanks for that.
How could anyone want more information lol!! That was the best video on air compressors I’ve seen!!👍🏻

Those information is really good
I dont know much so i buy a 100psi 3 gallon compressor thinking I can use it for small minor paint job as I spray but it turned out the tank is too small I am sending you this message all the way from South America Guyana
I found a campbell hausfeld 2gallon 100max psi in a marketplace and wondering if its good enough to spray paint a car?
Good video, I’ve learnt a bit. I will mainly want to use a nail gun and spray paint, but not all of the time. So what PSI and SCFM, also the size of tank. What would you recommend then? 👍👍👍👍
You mean CFM. 6 gallon pancake for nail guns including framing air guns. Spray paint start with 20 gal minimum, 60 gal if you're a serious painter.
@@kimchee94112 cheers for that. Now I know what to buy when the time comes 👍👍👍
It's unfortunate that Campbell Hausfeld no longer has the same quality people have come to expect from the brand.
Hello
Does air compressor work by pulling the surrounding air in and I plug it in with 120v socket or do I need to do a full install by routing hoses to the outside of the garage etc? Basically how do i install a air compressor? Thank you
adding a filter on a hose to the inlet pipe to the compressor filter like the cone ones kids use on their import car, It really quietens the noise.
wont affect the engine exerting more power?
Doesn’t pressure increase when diameter is reduced? Assuming a constant supply at a lower psi
If not, it should be labeled as volume
What kind of aircompreser do I need to press ball-bearing?
Are you sure you want to stick to the statement of less pressure in the smaller fittings/hose?

Hola ,una consulta la marca Campbell hausfeld es americana? O china? Por q aki en Perú quise comprar una compresora de aire de 2hp de 8 galones y en la caja y la máquina dice hecho en china
I wanna buy a air bottle Jack can you help me figure out what size compressor I need ?
Ok, this will be my first air compressor. It's basically for an electric stapler for the baseboard and trim throughout the house, using 1" long Staples. I'd like to not go over $150. Would you make it easy for me and suggest 2 or 3? Thanks.
I will take advice from any guys on here that have the knowledge that I don't.
What did you end up buying?
@@baileypawsplays1047 I didn't get the air compressor. Haven't done any trim yet but will probably use finish nails.
Anyone know the best 60 gallon compressor for under $500? For a home garage?

not 220. i think you meant dryers ?
For longevity especially if you use your compressor daily , consider a galvanized or stainless steel tank . this will al but eliminate any chance of your compressor blowing up due to faulty check valves .
Nice video...real nice compressor...noticed the 220v outlet next to it...ouch...but worth it. SCFM + 30% Thank You
Minimum compressor needed to use a sandblaster to remove paint from aluminum?
question, how is it that big Ingersoll-Rand Garage Mate 20 gallon tank and 2 HP packs only 5.5 CFM and little Makita MAC5200 5.5 gallon tank Big Bore 3.0 HP gives 6.5 CFM?
Because Makita is lying and overinflating its numbers. You can only get 2hp max from a 110v circuit.
You miss the fact that a bigger compressor, may have more run time before triggering the pump. But it compropises cfm power, by being bigger.
I just want to paint wood. With a air compressor. I have one in the garage I haven't opened in two years time to open it.
I will like To purchase a compressor, I have a body shop and I use a lot of tools and recommend me which one is better for me
Can you swap parts between compressors? As in put a motor from one to another one? They are the same tanks. But different brands
No problem, make sure it rotates in the same direction, same mounting or to drill holes, same rpm and same HP.
Nice video, Mike...I'm also shopping around for a 50Ft., 1/2" heavy duty rubber hose, on a reliable retractable reel, to handle any & all automotive air tools in the garage...what are your favorite 2 hoses on reels? Thanks! :)
Yes Nino I'm filling in for fin just you tube it
Are the harbor freight compressors powered by a 32/1 premix 2 stroke?
Because that would seem about right....

If you have additional questions please feel free to call our customer service team at 800-543-6400 and we would be happy to assist you.Have a great day!Thank you,
Campbell Hausfeld
Just buy a cordless 1/2 impact. You don't need air to remove lug nuts.
How many gallons do I need for a hopper doing texture
Im in the market for an 80 gal compessor for my bow shop.. any recommendations?
You could cross out Kobalt from Lowe's. They don't have parts or even provide tech support during warranty. Now you know.
I just wanted to know whats a good tank size thats sufficient to pump tires, other videos never explains that. Thank you for explaining that bro
Just takes them some time to do the job.
honestly one of those little 12v ones that fits in your trunk would work just fine.
@@CHcompressors I have search everywhere and nothing related to SCFM only Working Pressure range 40-170PSI
@@manuelbenavente6226 Sadly, without knowing the SCFM requirements, it's difficult to determine the air compressor size that you would need. Perhaps reaching out to EWK would be worthwhile to find the amount of flow you need.

We have a 2 stage at my work and before I worked there they had the great idea to make all of the piping out of pvc so one day I was shutting off the pvc main air valve and it blew up in my face. I was fine but sure did hurt haha. So don’t use pvc piping if you plan on making more then one air outlet.

What's the difference between single stange and dual stage? Also, is there a "general" equation to convert scfm to cfm and vise versa?
Hi Andy. Thanks for asking. Below is some information that helps answer your questions. If you have any additional questions, feel free to email our customer service team by visiting our website: campbellhausfeld.com/?target=contact
Stage refers the number of times intake air is compressed in a pump.
The following formula is used to determine SCFM:
SCFM=ACFM (Pa/Ps*Ts/Ta)
Pa =Actual pressure, Ps=Standard pressure (14.7psi), Ta=Actual temperature, Ts=Standard temperature (528 degrees Rankine)
Here are the equations to convert CFM to SCFM and to convert SCFM to CFM:
SCFM=ACFM (Pa/14.7psi)(528 degrees R/Ta)
ACFM=SCFM (14.7psi/Pa)(Ta/528 degrees R)
SCFM = "standard" CFM. It is the amount of uncompressed air the compressor sucks in. The compressed air output is a much, much smaller number.

Leonie,
The best way to size the air compressor would be to see what the SCFM/CFM rating at a given pressure or PSI is for the tool being used.
My filter/dryer inputs right to left what's up with that?
Is a 200psi compressor a reliable starting point for a compressor for paint spraying houses?

I have a mechanic shop with 4 bays. I am looking into a 80 gallon compressor 7.5hp 175 max psi. Do you think that will be good enough?
Hey artiga16, If you're operating a tire and/or lube shop the CE7000 (1ph) or CE7001 (3ph) 80 gallon units should work fine. If you do body work (sanding/painting) they will need a larger air compressor like a 120 gallon.
