This song was supposed to be played as our first dance at our wedding in Sept. She passed away 1/28/21... She stood by me through a 4 year incarceration, never missed a visit or phone call. Incredible cover. But, to truly appreciate it you need to know and appreciate the life and struggles of Jason Isbell. This is his song and his passion. Morgan does him right. But, the emotion belongs to Isbell.
Totally agree- gave me chills first time I heard it sung by Isbell. This was good but will always just miss the mark because it’s not his song , written for his wife.

Funny you say that about Jason struggle with addiction and his redemption yet he is was being super critical of morgan for the video that came out about him last yr. Really sad that Jason had his own struggles and knows what it's like to struggle thru something and instead of reaching out to offer support, he puts out comments that were pretty much kicking morgan down even more during his own struggle. Just really sad to me. I think morgan did everything right by owning what he said, apologizing and trying to move forward. We, his fans, know his talent and that is what matters to us. I just started listening to Morgan. I go through phases every now and then where I pick a genre and listen to just that. Anyway, I’m beyond excited about this guy. He’s got an old time feel, I’ve read he writes and co-writes some of his own stuff as well as music for others like Jason Aldean. His covers are usually fantastic but this one is special. This song is perfect with his voice.
