Why can’t we just be happy for both of these guys and have love for both? They both kill it, Jason wrote it, he’s the man. But... Wallen put a damn good spin on it. Love for both. ✌️
My husband just sent me this song this morning. It made me cry with pure love in my heart. We've been married for 21 years now. We've had some ups and downs in our marriage. This song just reminds me how lucky we are to still be best friends and still madly in lòve with each other. Thanks for this amazing song, it touched my soul. ❤
@@billyb9475 I mean, I get that you may not like it but to call it trash is a different story. Wallen puts his own flare on it and he does it very well. There are plenty of other modern country artists that would’ve destroyed this song. If anyone was to do a cover, I’d want Morgan to do it
This song moves me. Jason Isbell's story of struggle with addiction and redemption in this song is amazing. It reminds me to continue to stay sober for those I love. Morgan does a great cover. I am grateful for this art.
It’s funny because in “the rooms” they insist you can’t stay clean for other people. The only reason I’ve been off the junk for 5 years is because of the absolute exhaustion of hurting everyone you love. It’s all for them.
Funny you say that about Jason struggle with addiction and his redemption yet he is was being super critical of morgan for the video that came out about him last yr. Really sad that Jason had his own struggles and knows what it's like to struggle thru something and instead of reaching out to offer support, he puts out comments that were pretty much kicking morgan down even more during his own struggle. Just really sad to me. I think morgan did everything right by owning what he said, apologizing and trying to move forward. We, his fans, know his talent and that is what matters to us. At the end of the day, it's his music that ppl enjoy.
Sarah Pulsipher- good point. Jason Isbell is obnoxiously sanctimonious. I have a hard time believing his commitment to certain causes considering he’s been known to be very judgmental. His social media comment years ago addressing some commenter- something like, “you wouldn’t know” because he assumed the commenter wasn’t part of a minority group while having no actual knowledge about the commenter, was very telling. He felt compelled to chastise the commenter for supposedly doing the thing that JI himself was guilty of doing in that moment. How was it that Isbell was so certain that the commenter didn’t have plenty of experience with bigotry? JI overconfidence in chastising the commenter spoke volumes to me. It very much revealed his true intentions, imo, while also showing his lack of self-awareness as I discovered the info on his Wikipedia page. Whether or not he or his team added that bit of information is irrelevant as the info exists and is further confirmation for me from where he draws his motivations. Isbell seems the type to make sure people know all of his “acts of kindness” which pretty much voids the act completely. Isbell would do well to learn to offer others a little more grace considering his own tumultuous past. He may think he’s made it to the other side of his toughest climb and is therefore qualified to dictate what and how the rest of us get through the most difficult parts of our journeys but we can’t really ever know that, can we?
They’re a good combo for sure. Background guys always deserve props. They are not there for the spotlight but to make the music and main artist just that.
Been on rap and r&b fan for most of my life and I recently got into country and haven’t looked back since , best genre in my opinion , so much soul , depth , meaningfulness how can u not like this ?!
His voice is smooth as silk. Without dancers and loud crap going on, you can hear the sincerity and love for music in his voice. This is the voice. We all make mistakes. Ask forgiveness, and move on. Great performance with eyes closed. Perfect backup. Need more songs like this one in country, and a lot more from Morgan.
Bruh...I'm a die hard Hip Hop fan my first time listening to this heard it in a bbq restaurant...his damn voice caught me off guard...thank you brother 🙏
He does a phenomenal cover of this song. For anyone comparing him to Jason Isbell remember without the beautiful lyrics written by Jason Isbell there would be no cover. Two completely different artists.
Some people need to realize that these artists aren't having a pissing contest of who sung it better. This is simply an artist that appreciates another's work so much that he's proud to cover it himself. No shade on either sides, just love for great music with great roots.
So, as a Jason Isbell fan, when I heard someone else singing this, my first reaction was wondering who would dare sing this sacred song. Then I listened, and dang it, he nailed it. Really really love this cover. I even bought it on iTunes and it’s part of my regular rotation along with Jason’s version. That was a month ago. Today I thought I might as well see what he looks like. Um, he’s adorable too?! Gotta give props to the background vocalist too. The richness he brings to the sound is perfect. Hope to catch these guys in concert this year. Made a fan out of me.
It’s Isbell’s signature song, and I just can’t wrap my head around it. I’ve been listening to that song since 2013 and to hear someone else sing it is just different. It’s not bad at all, just different. If it were any other song maybe it would be easier to comprehend. This one just seems so personal.

So easy to do 💓

Why can’t we just be happy for both of these guys and have love for both? They both kill it, Jason wrote it, he’s the man. But... Wallen put a damn good spin on it. Love for both. ✌️
There are few people that can write better than Jason. But anyone that says Morgans cover of it isnt amazing is just plain lying.
J W 100% man... you know it. ✌️
Totally agree.
When the live version is better than the studio recorded version. WOW
ehhhhhh this one is good. But Jason Isbell’s version live at the Ryman on iTunes is unbeatable
When the original singer/songwriter is better than the terrible Morgan Wallen cover. This is seriously trash.
@@billyb9475 lyrical talent is Jason’s ballpark. Vocally let’s leave it to Morgan 🤷🏻♀️
@@ashleyconcas2846 Wallen doesn't do this song justice. Isbell is far superior, and a true artist.
@@billyb9475 I mean, I get that you may not like it but to call it trash is a different story. Wallen puts his own flare on it and he does it very well. There are plenty of other modern country artists that would’ve destroyed this song. If anyone was to do a cover, I’d want Morgan to do it
I would love to hear Chris Stapleton cover this! but damn Morgan killed it
That'd be amazing
I know Zac Brown band covered it too..
Check out The Steel Woods cover of it and you’ll appreciate it even more
Chris Stapleton sucks ass
Man, I love some Stapleton as much as the next guy, but Morgan just took ownership of this tune.
@@earlyandoften kind of a paradox but I agree with you. Be well.
@@83826sarah Jason Isbell was never caught on video spewing racial slurs. Why? He is not a racist.
I listen to this song atleast 20 times a day.. the pain.. the everything just hits different in this song.
Much props to background Vocal dude and his harmony make this song as good as it is.
They’re a good combo for sure. Background guys always deserve props. They are not there for the spotlight but to make the music and main artist just that.

This man and Chris Stapleton are gifted voices and both into country music. Amazing
Been on rap and r&b fan for most of my life and I recently got into country and haven’t looked back since , best genre in my opinion , so much soul , depth , meaningfulness how can u not like this ?!
Omg same! Best of both worlds
Same! I think it’s because it still has real song writing and feels real ! You can relate !
The pop country definitely waters down peoples perception of the genre
Bro same here. Listened to only rap til I was like 22-23. Almost 26 and all I listen to is country. Live/autistic Wallen hits different too.
Country songs definitely have the best stories.
You ever come across a song that reaffirms that some people have a god given talent? This is one of those times!
Is anyone gonna show the 2nd singer/player any love? HE is KILLING IT!!
Never in the history of country music has one man made the singing of the word "wood" so damn infectious!
Thanks for being a wonderful fan of my music and I hope you never stop listening to them.

Love how his eyes were shut the entire performance. Hearing and watching this is soul changing.

Atte71 he definitely nailed it but still feels like sacrilege
It’s Isbell’s signature song, and I just can’t wrap my head around it. I’ve been listening to that song since 2013 and to hear someone else sing it is just different. It’s not bad at all, just different. If it were any other song maybe it would be easier to comprehend. This one just seems so personal.

@@ryneberthelot463 I feel like Isbell sings it with more passion since it's his original. I feel like Wallen is just doing a great karaoke version. He doesn't have that connection to it like Isbell.

For anyone else trying to sing along, here’s the lyrics. Thank me later
A heart on the run keeps a hand on the gun
You can't trust anyone
I was so sure what I needed was more
Tried to shoot out the sun
Days when we raged, we flew off the page
Such damage was done
But I made it through, 'cause somebody knew
I was meant for someone
So girl, leave your boots by the bed
We ain't leaving this room
Till someone needs medical help
Or the magnolias bloom
It's cold in this house and I ain't going out to chop wood
So cover me up and know you're enough
To use me for good
Put your faith to the test when I tore off your dress
In Richmond on high
But I sobered up and I swore off that stuff
Forever this time
And the old lover's sing
“I thought it'd be me who helped him get home”
But home was a dream
One I'd never seen till you came along
So girl, hang your dress up to dry
We ain't leaving this room
Till Percy Priest breaks open wide
And the river runs through
And carries this house on the stones
Like a piece of driftwood
Cover me up and know you're enough
To use me for good
So girl, leave your boots by the bed
We ain't leaving this room
Till someone needs medical help
Or the magnolias bloom
It's cold in this house and I ain't going out to chop wood
So cover me up and know you're enough
To use me for good
Cover me up and know you're enough
To use me for good
