Thanks for sharing, literally hoping my 996.1 craps out just so I have a reason for the rebuild!!! Unfortunately I got one of those 996's that just won't die:( How long did it take them to turn it around?
Are you me? I am at 115k (owned since 74k) and is my daily! I told my wife this! I will do a rebuild - started a budget for when I hit 200k miles. I really want my interior, seats and interior refreshed!
Great minds think alike! My leather was actually in pretty good shape but had a guy rejuvenate anyway, best few hundred bucks I could've spent. Did the PCCM stereo upgrade, pricey, may have been better off with a nice after market unit.... One piece at a time!!!
@@richardclegg5853 Totally agree! I got fake sheep's to cover the worn leather front seats. Will address at some point. I put a new top on (OEM manufacturer from Germany under their brand) that really refreshed the exterior. I have the GT3 rims- unsure to: just do a refresh or refresh and powder coat? Thoughts? Back seats and carpet look new, plastic bits and center need a repaint or something. Dash and clusters, look new. Plug in Bluetooth changed my life!
Maybe it is the video angle but it looks your driving position is not the best. I think your arms relative to the steering wheel is very good, the distance from shoulders to steering wheel is spot on. However, your shoulders are way off from the seat and that you are very upright - like Rene Arnoux used to sit in F1. The point is that do you get enough side support to your upper body and can you sit relaxed without tensioning your torso muscles. It could be down to the seat back form also. The Porsche seats are quite a compromise between different size of bodies and you might need a bit more straight seat back instead of it being convex for the lumbar support. Like I said it maybe the video angle but if you have a change to check your driving position with a good race/advanced driving instructor use the opportunity. it can make your driving better - or at least if can make your ability to enjoy driving better. With a N/A-engine the max torque is always directly relative to the engine capacity. So if you go from 3.6 to 4.0 you will get about 10% more torque. And power (W) is simply revs (rads/s) times torque (Nm). At which revs your peak torque and power come is very down to cam timing and tube lengths. And then the ECU-tuning is usually just making the mixture a tad richer. The max power usually comes at lambda 0.83-0.85 which is definitely on the rich and more emissions side. Anyway, 10% gain is something that you will feel. I would not call it night and day but you can definitely feel it. 5% is barely recognizable. Very often the sportier sound makes you believe you have more power but when start using stopwatch you may get a bit disappointed. But then, it is the sensation that counts. Your car is a beauty.
That exhaust note. Sweet

FSI Stage 1 996.1 here. Hello!
Love 996!
Why did they not QC the car first before shipping it to you before you figured out it was a bad MAF? Just seems pretty crappy.
They did, the car went on the dyno. It ran ok at first then progressively got worse.
Was it your actual engine they built up or was it one they already had and took yours as a swap out?

Is the oiling system improved?
You said "if you have the ability". So... How much we talking here? $?
Depends on the package and who does the work )
@@amofilm8Ballpark please- $25k?
@@rumrnr78From these guys, for just an engine, yes, that’s the starting price. More for an increased-displacement version like this.
@@lebojay Thanks! She’s a beaut Clark…
Damn… sent the car back and it ran rough 😖
That’s a lot of coin to not be perfect
It's part of hot rodding man.
@@josephepperson7197 nope, it’s a part of shitty craftsmanship 😖 (for what them folk charge things should be perfect)
It runs perfect now. Yes there should be no issues in theory but MAFs go bad all the time and it's not the end of the world.
Make your headlights cases clear ice 'D out

Your driving is shocking. Jerky throttle, poor clutch control and snappy steering inputs. 3 no nos in any 911.
