About the mileage… it isn’t necessarily actual costs, but the amount the government will allow you to deduct instead of individual expenses like gas, oil changes, tires, etc. It also accounts for depreciation since all the miles we (fellow dasher) drive makes our car less valuable. I do this deduction because it is easier than remembering how much I paid for gas, etc. I hope that makes sense.😊

@@themeatymama Yes, the 67 cents is the mileage deduction for your taxes to reduce your income tax. You should be entering mileage on your taxes. If you haven't done that in the past, you should amend your taxes to reflect the mileage you are driving for the delivery apps.

One time I went to pick up at Chipotle and I saw my order sitting on the shelf with the name on it and everything but I had to pee really bad so I went to the bathroom first. In the time it took me to pee and come out, a thief stole the order. I had to wait for Chipotle to remake it. I was so mad.

The 67 cents per mile also includes maintenance, wear and tear, and depreciation. With the current price of gas and the gas mileage on my car, it costs me 20 cents per mile to drive. That leaves 47 cents per mile for expenses. I just paid $500 to fix an oil leak and replace an engine belt. At 47 cents per mile, that's equal to 1064 miles. Oil changes, new brakes, new tires, new battery, etc are all figured into the 67 cents per mile.

It also is for semi tractor trailers as well I think. 67 cents a mile is what they will reimburse you if you use your car for business. You can deduct that 26.00 that you made. It's a tax write off. Either miles or true expenses. Usually miles is a higher deduction.
So to pay no taxes you would want to earn 67 cents a mile. Taking $2 a mile leaves profit.
I think it is for all kinds of vehicles too. Any vehicle used for business.

    • @rachmunshine9474
      @rachmunshine9474 2 місяці тому

Well the fees for everything in general food delivery related but also for those who would not choose to punish the actual person doing the work even if they don’t realize how little we get… many have read articles about some states or cities in other states such as California and Seattle, Washington, where they read numbers like 29 something and they don’t know what an active hour is nor do they know it is already two months later or some thing down to 17 something per active hour.
I’ve often thought despite a lot of people on Facebook disagreeing when I was on there for a bit as I occasionally I am but hardly ever anymore- but there are like the general fees and taxes and there’s a delivery fee. I just personally think you wouldn’t need to be the dumbest person on earth think that maybe all, or at least a good portion of that, went to the actual driver in some cases personal shopper.
I dash n UE and I personally think the pay is insane and if I was ordering well, I would still tip…. I definitely would tip more. Probably if I knew they were making two dollars or just not gotten it if I couldn’t afford it. I mean who would really think that? Or eight dollars per active hour. So if something is ready, we’re almost ready and it tasted like 10 minutes to get there. I’m not gonna do the math because I’m lazy and it’s too depressing.
Also, double check if they switched tips to the end of delivery instead of at the point of ordering like in New York City. A lot of customers did not like that. Never mind the actual Dashers.

This is going forward for this year though, right? Or is it 25 actually? Well I read something about it. I just don’t remember the details. 😂 I thought it was $.63 for 23 and I remember reading about 63 one year and then 64 and then 67 but I’m just not sure which year each one is for. I think I thought it was 63 because people are referring back to last years whenever they would talk about it on here. But that when you sat down to do it by miles it was actually 64 for 23. And so the 67-ish for 24 I think. But if anyone knows exactly otherwise, I’m sure we can easily look it up.

I never understood the idea of contact-less delivery when there is, like you said, LEAVE AT MY DOOR. What is the frickin point? And the extra steps don't even make any sense. Just because it's contact-less why do they think the customer would not want us to "leave at the door" and require extra instruction as to where they want us to put it? The whole thing is just ridiculous. Rant over. lol

Oh, come over my zone. 😂 a couple of streets in particular, which are not some kind of major great place but I think it’s more and more the closer you get to the water…. And there’s one street that a bunch of different blocks veer off of. And you can get a bunch of different street addresses and you get to that part of the directions and you’re like oh no. Especially since DD seems to have stopped adjusting arrival time based on when the food is actually ready. I’ve had one minute to go like 3 miles. I mean I’m not flying I know it could come running out of the house along that road as there are a number of large houses, which I would assume families live in. But I also don’t need to like come to a complete stop like every 10 or 15 feet for like a mile or two at least as far as I’ve ever gone on that before turning off.
I don’t know what percentage compared to average we having my whole town with his rather large, but they definitely are lurking.

But you had to get a reminder for all of us that if it’s scary assuming we are reasonable people that you could tell them you can’t afford to make XYZ issue whether it’s a shoulder discs in the spine, whatever worse and so, could I please have the customer meet you downstairs and see if that’s possible. I mean it’s not usually a quadriplegic ordering. You will start to pay for all those things when your warranty expires. And your mileage increases etc. You may not be using that 67c allowance now, but you will later on. And possibly more!
For example, last year my windshield cracked twice. $500 deductible to replace twice. It adds up when items are not covered on warranty. 2 tire repairs etc. My warranty just expired. Oil change etc. $195.
Also, your car is depreciating year over year.
The above is why many gig workers eventually leave gig work. Your viewers are giving you excellent advise! Listen to it...

Everyone’s taxes are different. The standard deduction last year was $13,850.00 for single filers. I don’t drive enough miles per year, nor would I, to write off that many miles. I also don’t have near enough deductions to itemize business expenses above and beyond $13,850.00 for gig work. Let’s face it, most expenses are for fuel. I’m not trashing my vehicle for DoorDash. I took the standard deduction and still owed the IRS due to self-employment taxes. Unless you have more than the standard deduction to write off in itemized expenses, you will most likely have to take the standard deduction, even though you’re required to itemize your business expenses on your taxes for the sake of the IRS. Don’t let the 67 cents per business mile allowed for 2024 fool you into thinking the IRS is somehow rewarding you. In the end, most gig workers end up owing taxes, especially as a sole proprietor.

FYI. You do NOT have to itemize to take the mileage deduction on your taxes as a sole proprietor. You can do the standard deduction along with business expenses and the mileage deduction.
This is your friendly reminder to verify everything with an accountant or tax professional and not just believe whatever you see online.

@@mschaefer4656 I am not grabbing information from “online.” It comes from personal experience. From the IRS, “You should itemize deductions on Schedule A (Form 1040), Itemized Deductions if the total amount of your allowable itemized deductions is greater than your standard deduction or if you must itemize deductions because you can't use the standard deduction.” Again, if you don’t have more itemized expenses than the standard deduction, you take the standard deduction. The whole idea of itemizing is to reduce the amount of taxes you owe. If you only have, for example, $8,000 of allowed itemized deductions, you would obviously take the standard deduction. Long story short, you either itemize or take the standard deduction, whichever method lowers the amount of taxes you owe.

Glad all is well with your son and you're back on the dash. However, good luck catching $2/mile orders. I think those seem to only happen if the customer tips a lot.

So what I do I blacklist the places that are not acceptable. I have a same area that has flimsy stairs and that is prone accident. I am safety number one first therefore, I keep track by putting notes on my phone of all the black list places that are not safe for me to go to Survive ever see that location pop up. I remember it and I’m like nope.👍🏼

Maybe stick a small battery operated fan on your dashboard aimed towards your face to keep you cooler.
