One of the best when it comes to articulating the complex and nuanced nature of sex addiction. Thanks for all your work, Rob.

For those of us married to sex addicts Robert Weiss makes sense of the insanity that is the life of the addict and the crazy responses of partners who become traumatized by the addiction.

      He talks so fast...
But everything he says is so accurate..... this is the real deal in terms of the human condition....and he was s so right about we have no real idea of the scale of addiction that we will se in the future. The availability without sanctions is increasing everyday. Technology accelerating insanity.

Difficult to say whether disclosure to the spouse is the telltale signe of recovery. Maybe it is?
The courses/ talks of Rob Weiss are nonetheless very helpful to me. They are very direct precise and accurately examplified.
I would be very interested by video(s?) more directed toward emotions/trauma hidden by sexual acting out. Not that video can replace individual therapy but it can give some interesting and precious leads/hints/clues.
I would even daresay many psychotherapist/psychoanalysts are actually {overwhelmed by/unable to help with} sexual {disorders/addiction}. Being an addiction specialist may very well be a completely different job from psychoanalyst.
RW, please keep up with this good work!!

Thank you for sharing this lecture! This was fantastically shared. Is there a part two? It seems like it cuts off somewhat suddenly.
I found a lot of personal value in how the information was presented. I can see ways in which my personal early life experiences affected my perception of sexuality, and recently I have dated several men that self identify (and have been presumably confirmed through therapy) as sex addicts, and it's really important for me to understand them with this kind of objective way.

It'd be interesting to see how often the traits mentioned here spill over into personality disorders, and which types of personality disorders are most common in sex addicts. A lot of it sounds very Cluster B.

I found Dr Weiss's comments interesting and insightful, until I read his book. His advocacy of 12 Step Groups is baffling. They are no more effective than any other type of therapy, and often come with very considerable problems. The insertion of religion often equates to an attempt to replace one form of cognitive distortion with another, and some groups have deeply unhealthy power relationships. More than one person has described the dynamics of some 12 Step Groups as "cult like". Mixing highly vulnerable, troubled people with questionable concepts such as "higher powers" who will fix their problems is very concerning.

    • @Dawid-mz5pf

If your 12 step program is religious, get out it is a cult.
.... is a spiritual program, not religious ..... (From the original literature)

You speak about sexual addiction being a mental health issue and a compulsive behaviour disorder, bu do not speak about how powerful, primal, and autonomic the sexual impulse is, which in Ayurveda, it is said, must not be suppressed. I would think that not having a satisfying outlet for that energy fuels sexual adventures and stress. Also, in this presentation or elsewhere, you say that the "job" of children is to play. I differ .... the need of children is to feel secure in a sense of belonging to and being valued. Children do not want to have only play and nothing else. They want to also feel included in their family life and activity. Even then, the tendency to be wayward, naughty and otherwise excercise free will to do things that are not necessarily good can't be fully absent.

Robert Weiss on this presentation and other videos makes inappropriate comments especially towards women and occasionally towards men (example - the size of the congressman's genitals) - all under the guise of humor. That's enough for me to stop the video. It ain't funny to me. It's a subtle form of shame and manipulation, and i hope that you, Robert, wil explore your own wounds, and then stop that offensive behavior. It's hard to believe that your CSAT training did not confront you with this glaring behavior.
