I have this guitar. Had it 3 years. Its a great reliable gigging guitar in every sense. Nice to play too. Only gripe is the jack input is not in a comfortable place for me personally...I keep catching it. solved it by using Xvive wireless system but normal leads are a problem for me on this. Otherwise a bargain indeed and great work/job from Yamaha
I have an earlier version of the steel string and nylon string models, brilliant, the built in effects are excellent, just noodling through earphones is great also. Thus look a good upgrade, will have to try it out.
Thanks for the review! It would have been nice to hear the guitar being played without any amplification, just to get an idea about how silent it really is. It could have easily fit before or after all the settings of piezo/thingy and reverb/chorus.
I have had it for years. Same as an unplugged electric guitar. I just did maintenance on it after many years of service. It has held together well considering the abuse I put it through......flights, hot, cold, etc, etc.
Good joke. Haha. And if it's not a joke. SLG200S means SL means silent, and g means guitar Silent means you can practice beside a sleeping baby without waking it up from playing bad
It's not as loud as a hollow bodied but still louder than a solid. The earbuds are of excellent quality when you don't want to play through an amp or don't own one(I don't yet) ...very happy with this guitar.
Gorgeous! But, if it was me, for a travel guitar I'd lose the headstock and put the tuning gears below the bridge like an Erlewine Lazer. Save half a foot on the length.
I have a question about this guitar that I’m hoping someone can answer. When I play, I rest the pinky of my right hand on the edge of the sound hole. Is there enough room below the strings on this guitar to do that?
Great review! Getting my SLG200S today. Can't wait to practice discretely and be able to record my sessions without that annoying feedback. I installed an acoustic pickup on my Martin HD-28 and nearly lost my mind when the guitar started to vibrate out of control. Scary stuff. Thank you.
Hey, according to Yamaha's official website (usa.yamaha.com/products/musical_instruments/guitars_basses/silent_guitar/slg200_series/specs.html#product-tabs near the bottom) the original factory strings are either D'Addario EXP11 (0.012-0.53) or Yamaha FS50BT (0.012-0.52).
if you need to practice/play late night or can't make too much noise, slg200s is for you. you can also fold the slg200 for easier travelling (I've done it on a plane but I stuffed so much bubble wraps in the case just for insurance. but i would definitely want to use the FS-TA in a live performance for that nice real reverb tune or for an outing... that sound is SO RICH.
Or check out the Lava Me series. I was close to getting a TA until I chanced upon the Lava Me reviewed by Guitarist Songwriter Mary Spender and was instantly sold.
Ulrich Robert Musil If that’s a serious question, the answer would be yes. I’ve been using it in my band on covers that have acoustic passages but also require electric with distortion. Check out my live cover of Carry On Wayward Son. It’s not metal, but it’s definitely an overdriven rock tone using this very guitar!! 🤘😜
tae smellsbad No there is not. It’s meant to be a wonderful sounding acoustic guitar. It has reverb and chorus built in, but that’s it. If you want to use distortion, just run it through an overdrive pedal or amp! 🤘😎

I kind of imagine with the double a batteries though that if you're using the acoustic a lot more you probably go through more double a batteries than you would a 9 volt. 9 volts in the guitar like that have a pretty decent life expectancy
Most of us who play shows go through the same amount of batteries no matter what kind they are because you put in fresh batteries for EVERY show no matter what. It sucks because this almost certainly isn't necessary, but I've never encountered a player who takes the chance of old batteries during a gig.
That guitar sound nice, Yamaha has did a good job, yet fender surprise us all with a sweet guitar, the acoustasonic telecaster, price is rich, almost too sweet, we must turn in to diabetes, lol, over all I like it, hope it ain't to rich for me,
Acoustic guitars are much louder... a good 80-85%. So if you want to practice acoustic without bothering your girlfriend or neighbors... then you get it.
Good for travel practice, as the 'body' disassembles and it still has a normal scale length/string spacing. For people that move around a lot for work or school I imagine it's pretty handy, but otherwise it's not massively useful. It's the only reason I'm looking at one myself, as it seems like a great solution for working away from home without annoying other hotel goers/roommates without having to worry about the bulk of an acoustic or the weight of an electric.
Hmmm, another guy from a magazine who knows plenty of UFO chords, including some that have 5 notes, and he cannot play a damned thing. Too bad, I'd really like to hear this thing imitate a real acoustic.
So why are you watching and commenting on this video? This is a niche product for a niche market. I don't want a Gretsch, but I'm not going to go onto a video of a Gretsch and post "I don't want a Gretsch guitar!"...

That’s what I did wireless
I used this in my vlog recordings. Uploaded a demo & review of this. Perfect guitar.
You managed to bring out the sweetness of the instrument. I almost wrote this model off after listening to another review
It looks so much better now. I have the older version and this makes me want to upgrade.
I have an earlier version of the steel string and nylon string models, brilliant, the built in effects are excellent, just noodling through earphones is great also. Thus look a good upgrade, will have to try it out.
the upgraded one (slg200 vs slg100) uses AA batteries instead of 9V, which is awesome!

@@johnstitt2615 so then what makes this better than a glorified electric guitar with a fancy name?
@@nwesterbeckmaster The fact that it sounds like an acoustic? Even an electric with piezo pickups doesn't sound as close to a real acoustic as this.
@@AJDOLDCHANNELARCHIVE so then what does an electric acoustic sound like?
@@nwesterbeckmaster Like an acoustic, but it's not quiet like this guitar.
I could hear it.
No one shows how it sounds without amp.

Why?! 🙉 It's not good idea! In my opinion the Yamaha guiter will be simply... ugly! 😢
Love it and consider buying one. But it's years old model, new model soon available - what's your guys guess?
What's the difference between 200S and 220S?
The difference is one existing the other does not
Great Demo - Thank You

what are the equipment to get such a sound please thanks

My wife’s boyfriend gets pissed when I play guitar late at night so this is perfect for me
Is that the raw DI or are you running it through an acoustic amp?

Is the SRT system worth buying the 200 version over the 100? Thanks.
Can you tell me how well this guitar would handle alternate tunings?
I regularly use open G , no probs
So does the guitar have to be plugged into an amp to be heard?
Does someone know which is the original factory string gauge? please.
