Your ride and review as well as MattyActives ride and review of the Trek Roscoe 7 is the sole reason I just ordered one. Love y’all’s videos. I am super stoked about getting back into mountain biking after a 2 year hiatus.
I have the Roscoe 7 2020 and my wife has the Marlin 5 2021. The Roscoe is a very capable bike. I have been riding it for 3 years now. No major complaints but I changed my derailer to an XO1 after I bent my original during a fall, which is much smoother shifting gears. I like the new geometry on the 2023.
I need to test ride one of these but need to lose some weight before I commit. Until then, one more season on my Marlin 7 which I’ve already sunk a lot of money into but am at the point of diminishing returns with regards to upgrades. I’ve done the dropper, I’ve gone tubeless (and back because the rims burp too easily for a guy my weight) and swapped the drivetrain and cockpit but I’m not willing to sink more money into it with a fork upgrade so it will remain my gravel grinder. I’m with you with regards to the Marlin on the trails; not quite good enough geometry for downhill and the coil fork might as well be a jackhammer of your forearms.
Those are some cool upgrades for sure, but I agree that there’s only so far you can go before you might as well upgrade to a Roscoe or something better.
Awesome! Honestly I think both are a great option and will last you a while before upgrading parts. The Roscoe 8 is a better bike, and for $250 more for the 8 as opposed to $500 more in the past, I think going with the 8 is a good deal for what you get. However once again these bikes aren’t too crazy different so if you saved some money and got the 7, you’d still have a great time with a good bike!
I noticed that they have the Roscoe 7 and 8 on sale right now. I'm a beginner rider who originally looked for the 6, but it was sold out. The 8 normally seems to cost 2.4k. Idk why.
@@pingpongballz5998 i have the 2023 roscoe 7, once the brakes are bedded in they work pretty dang good, & you can change the levers only and get a power increase, I've heard. the recon silver rl feels plush and performs very well for the price, and at this price range, the whole package is a very reasonable buy
Those tire pressures seem a little high, I have been riding my Roscoe 8(2023) 21 front 22-4 rear but weigh 225LBS. You can run 18F 20R and be much more in control. These are tubeless so you can get away with lower pressures.
This x2. Your pressures are wayyyy to high. I’m 180 and running 17/20 front and rear on a 2.5/2.4 combo, and it’s totally fine. You could go lower than that if you want. Also, double check your fork pressure, that should be set to somewhere around 20-30% sag. It sounded like said you set yours to 175psi, which would probably be too much for your weight. Maybe you were meaning 75? Idk…
Hey Talali, I am as yourself about (5'7" - 5'8") , balanced leg and torso length. Trek offers M and ML sizes which cross each other over. Why did you choose M vs ML when choosing? The sizing guide on Trek site would indicate ML would fit you also. I am under impression, the slighy bigger fame offers some more riding stability. Is the hub lag annoying? How to you compare your Procaliber vs Roscoe on the same trail? Your Procaliber should have bolted up those climbs.
i am near your height and have the ML, it's nice and stable & i think M is somewhat small and feels definitely a bit weird going back to my marlin 5 M. hub lag is for sure not annoying, i think they're around 36t of engagement and is an enormous step up compared to the bikes at the big-box store. The roscoe climbs well, geometry is modern and is great all-round
@@meepcheep314 Thanks for your input. I live in the north east , around Toronto. Near New York State, so we have some nice flowing single tracks, double track, climbs, dencents and switchbacks. This bike would be a good fit for my area riding.
The m would be a more playfully bike you be able too pull the front end very easy on the m. ML would more stable planned too the ground it be harder too pick up throw it around. Meaning the m is a smaller bike short wheelbase. I am 5.9 and I’ll be getting the m for sure low a playful nimble bike
Great video! I have been looking at a Roscoe 8, but I’m worried it won’t be capable enough, do you ever find this bike gets overwhelmed on fast terrain?
Never thought I would have a Roscoe 7 given to me. He thought it was to much work for his use......I admire my upgrades and the machine even though I may only do road and trails like you're doing. Nothing wild just another fitness tool
@@kennethwright6617 After much deliberation, I purchased the NS Eccentric Alu Evo, which I believe is more similar to the Fuse than the Roscoe. Previously, I owned a Polygon Siskiu D7, and my initial impression is that the NS is heavier but more enjoyable. I am extremely pleased with my decision to "downgrade" from a full suspension to a hardtail, primarily because it allows for a carefree riding experience without the need to constantly consider factors such as SAG, rear shock pressure, and maintenance. Nevertheless, I am still impressed by Siskiu's lightweight nature. For those who enjoy a mix of XC, downhill, riding various terrains, and even commuting, a hardtail is the optimal choice. Both the Roscoe and Fuse are remarkable machines to ride. Good luck with your decision
Nice video and congrats on the new bike. So is Browns Ravine now open to Mountain Biking? Trail Forks is showing the trail only open to hiking. No bikes.
Definitely do size medium in my opinion. I'm around the same height and it fits well. M/L can work if you want a larger bike but M should be a better fit

Love the way you are laughing the whole time. That alone speaks volumes to what a fun bike it must be. Really tempted to buy one during this sale!

I just bought the Roscoe 7 today. I’m upgrading from a cheapy $150 Walmart bike and I gotta say, the difference is almost magical. 😂
Congrats!! That's a huge upgrade for sure!
I'm confused wouldn't the slacker head angle make it harder to climb?
Thank you mate. I think you've just sold two for trek. We are in Vietnam and I noticed they are made there so 😎😎😎
Nice!! Congrats on the purchases :D

How's the fork and the brakes? Those are the things I'm worried about this bike.
On this trail, both were more than enough but I'll ride some harder trails to see how they hold up since the Roscoe can definitely handle more.
