I just returned from a trip and I really held myself to things I would actually use and I did really well. I think I used almost everything and that made me feel accomplished
Ugh for me the hardest part is packing the correct amount of brushes, makeup sponges, etc! I have some chunky brushes which take up SO much space in my makeup bag on trips and I always feel like I'm wasting that room!
I love eye shadow sticks for travel! No worries about smashing any pans, and they're versatile -- I can either do a lighter look, eyeliner-style, or a full lid look.
your eye look is perfection! that brown is the perfect color contrast to bring out your eye color, the dark/light placement, the shape…everything! it looks simple, in that the colors are neutral, but it is…perfect.
I am definitely a makeup minimalist on vacation. It's a vacation! 😁 I pack an eyeshadow quad in neutral shades with one dark color and one really light sparkly color, a black waterproof eyeliner and a mascara, a powder foundation, a concealer, one blush, one lip gloss, one lip balm. We are definitely go go go people, and most of the makeup only gets used for dining out.
I just got back from a 5 day trip to the beach, and since I wore makeup only at night I decided to bring only one palette (the Nabla Soul Blooming) and I planned my whole wardrobe around it. For me this worked really well in order to not overpack shoes (EDIT: and purses LOL) as well since the color palette was limited! 😊
I needed this for my trip last month. Always guilty of overpacking- clothes and makeup. I’m a neutral girl with pretty basic makeup, why do I always pack multiples of every category? I’m saving this for next time I travel as a reminder 😊
Great video idea! I always struggle with this. When I pack I want lots of options and then I only use a fraction of what I end up bringing. This goes for clothes and make-up.
I’m in Melbourne, Australia. We’ve just gone into a snap 5 day lockdown. I can’t travel more than 5km from home. My only reasons to go out are food shopping, medical appointments, to get vaccinated (first one booked for next Thursday) We’ve had 5 lockdowns since Covid hit last year and one of them last 4 months. It’s hard when you live alone.
I was going to ask if you were from Australia too. I'm in Sydney and at this point I wish I could see my grandparents who live an hour away. Hang in there and look after yourself x
As a travel eyeshadow palette I would recommend the viseart Paris edit for some cooler tones and the spritz edit for a few warmer tones. They are so small, have great variety and blend like a dream
Love this idea!! I recently went to Iceland for an entire week with one large Salt NY palette, a tube of mascara, and some lip oil. I didn’t even use everything I loaded into that palette.
@@this_lee_life5553 I only have one blush and one highlighter - they are gorgeous I love both of them. I have mature skin, and the highlighter gives the perfect dewey shine without being tacky or metallic, or glittery or accentuating fine lines. I also smeared it all over my eyelids for a quick dinner look and it looked great. I also love the design of the palette - it really is perfect for traveling.
One of the most helpful things I’ve found for managing the amount of makeup I bring while still keeping it organized is one of those roll up organizers that hang on the bathroom door. It keeps bulk minimal with no need to dump everything all over the vanity like an episode of hoarders 🙌🏼
Oh I am all about the nifty packing! I only take 7kg carry-on so I decanter liquids and creams into smaller bottles and take versatile products to keep it light.
I'm leaving today too and I packed two mini palettes and one, like, tiny palette😂 pretty proud that my makeup bag is so small even though I'm leaving for two weeks
concealer, CT highlighter wand (maybe the pink one if I'm feeling fancy), brown eyeliner, Brow pencil and/or gel, black mascara, RED lipstick(s). I find that by eliminating choices I save myself both stress and time and TBH - I usually default to just mascara, brow gel, and red lipstick.
The months i previously was subscribed to ipsy pay off when i’m on the go! Those mini mascaras, eyeliner, palettes, blushes, highlighters, even skincare and haircare! I’m lucky that my skin isn’t too picky. I also keep the empties and refill them with my regular products!
I traveled with the glossier makeup bag and I can fit everything I need in it. I pack face palettes that have highlight, blush(orange cause I know me), contour, bronzer. 2 6-8 pan palettes, mini loose powder, 2 foundations cause I may change colors so I bring what I can mix to match me. 3 concealers. Eye primer, face primer, setting spray lip liner, gloss and balm. That all fits in that bag. I have a travel brush case and I pack 5 brushes and 1 sponge in it. Boom done.
Thanks for all the tips! It would be awesome if you could also do a “skincare travel bag” video… what are the must haves and what to skip while you’re on vacation…
My two fav items to bring on vacay are the Ofra mini highlighter palettes (there’s 3 mini shades in one small palette that ranges from warm, neutral, to cool tones) and I have a mini blush duo from Jouer that is the same - it has one warm toned and one slightly cooler toned blush but they’re both still small enough. Palettes I usually bring one neutral and one colorful palette.
I overpack always and I never ever use the stuff I take. This is a great guide to keep in mind when packing. So so very helpful. Thanks for the great video. As always
I use to be an overpacker...now I got extreme with the under packing (I travel with stuff I could get rid off, makeup with a few uses left, socks that I didn't mind throw them in the bin, underpants that I didn't even like , I throw them to the trash too...all of this in vacation, just to make space in the suitcase for the new stuff I could bring. The skincare I took samples sizes and I pan them during the trip, so no more stuff on the makeup bag. All of this was an avid light weight Traveller's blog advice. And it was good advice!
@@gabye. It's good advice however I don't really buy much stuff to bring back home when I travel (souvenirs or whatever) so I don't know if I need to recoop that space personally. But I do bring samples that lay around not to bring a full product and save space.
Just started listening. Love your humor and blatant truth! You’ll probably mention this, but if not, knowing the weather too. Love the fantasy analogy. We do have a tendency to think “I have to bring this summer frock and sandals just in case…” Nah. Thx for sharing!
when i travel i also try to only bring one from each category. i realized a long time ago that I really don't need a variety because a lot of days i go without makeup especially if it's a tropical vacation. and more often i skip eyeshadow all together so i try to only bring one small palette and maybe 2 single shadows for extra sparkle!
Because I only use translucent powder on a small brush, I press a bit into an eyeshadow pan and keep it in a small magnetic palette with some other everyday essentials like the eyeshadow I use as highlighter and a duochrome shadow I often wear all over the lid.
I find a good way to not overpack makeup (although I get in fantasy mode sometimes too😂) is to put in a face of makeup like usual at home and just bring those products. With a couple more lip options for fun.
Great timing, I was contemplating making a checklist for my kit for wheb I have to go to work in the sun and then shower and change and do my face before people see me. I keep forgetting things. Last time it was mascara. Before that it was brow gel. This time it was shadow base. 😂
Use minis and make a perma-bag. I have a mini mascara, brow gel, lip gloss, etc packed in my work bag. You can usually score good products in those value kits. That’s what my work bag is mostly filled with and they’re all solid items.
Very timely video with great tips!! I always think I’m going to glam every day and most days that is not the case. I’ve started to realize that when I’m on vacay, I’m far more relaxed and more rested that I barely need much makeup.💜
My vacation makeup for this year was super minimal. Concealer, BB cream, powder, blush, highlight, a super shock shadow, mascara and brow gel. Very easy and effective. Its worked for my last few trips.
I really needed this. We are going on a 3 day trip, and last time we went, I had 2 train cases of makeup. Seriously. I used like 6 things. I’m not doing it again! And I like to take things that I won’t freak out about losing or breaking. Things that are easily replaceable and not expensive, if I decide to replace them. Great video! Enjoy your trip! 💖
First what I do is checking if there is a Sephora near by. In the Netherlands we don't have one. And if there is, I only bring bb-cream, mascara (mini), lipbalm and go to Sephora to buy me some souvenirs 😁Of there is no Sephora of time. I get my Tarte Hamptons Weekender (love that one), Nude lipstick and Born to Run of Urban Decay.
I brought the Dominique cosmetics transition palette bc I can use it on my eyes and face and a bunch of single shadows bc that’s what I use daily. The kvd force field dazzle stick is one but I’m definitely packing lighter these days bc well I end up not doing my makeup or only doing it once and having a makeup bag plus 5 palettes which is annoying to carry around
Just had this overpacking situation happen on my first trip since covid began. I had some old samples from the Before Times already in my makeup bag, and I just couldn’t remember how to pack so I just threw everything I normally use in there too, and like, it’s summer so half the steps don’t apply, plus my makeup changed over quarantine, plus I didn’t take care with some cracked eyeshadows and they were destroyed. Glad to see I’m not the only one but glad also to see you adjust. I hope you enjoy your trip!!
If I’m staying for just one day I don’t pack eyeshadow palettes, I take single eyeshadow (SuperShock Prickly Pear ) and use highlighter in the inner corner. ( And one of everything else) If I’m packing for couple of days I pick palette that have colors and golds so I can do many looks or two palettes: one neutral and one colorful. Two blushes in different colors. Three lip products: everyday one, bold/fun one, “glamour” one. I try to pack one of everything else but if I’m packing more I use the same rule as with lipsticks for example two highlighters one subtle and one bold.
This video could not have been timed more perfectly for me; I’m currently packing for a weekend getaway. One thing I always bring on trips is a highlighter multi-palette. Gives me a variety of colors for my face and can also be used as eyeshadow or to transform black liner. I also have to bring 2 blushes, one cool and one warm, so I have something to match any outfit.
100%. I don't need too much crap. For a week in LA I brought In the Balm of your Hand vol 2 eye and cheeky palette (the balm) which is always reliable. I ended up wearing one nude lipstick the whole time too.
Nice video! I am trying to imagine what I would bring if I was going on a trip. I would try to keep it minimal of course, bring eyeshadow singles or trio or quad, and just a handful of other things. Enjoy your vacation!
Packing makeup is pretty easy for me. I have a go-to face palette with everything I need in one palette & I would probably make a custom 9, 12 or 18 shadow palette from my singles depending on where/how long we we going. Then it's just mascara, liner, eyelash curler & lip product. It's skincare & haircare that is a chore since it requires decanting into travel size containers or lugging the full size which is a pain.
A tip I saw from someone that travels frequently is when you get home refill all your travel container before storing them. That way when it's time to pack again it's all ready to go and you're less stressed.
Honestly 99% of the time my trips are Friday to Sunday by car. For that reason I don’t mind if I overpack because there are no weight limits like on a plane but also… I do really mind if I overpack because in truth my makeup style is 50 shades of beige with maybe some cute douchromes or red lipstick, I do not need three different neutral eye palettes for three days. ETA: I don’t know if you own any of the Lisa Eldridge pouches that she sells with her lipstick sets but if I’m really good I try to bring one of those with makeup and one with brushes and if I bring a big eye or face palette that can go in between my clothes because again, not taking a plane, no risk of smash.
YENSA!! My favorite!! Nobody ever talks about Yensa. It's the only thing I use under my baggy under eye that doesn't crease or cake. The brand is amazing!
I usually limit myself to just one of each item I need to do my makeup. For example; only one blush, one bronzer, one powder, one eyeshadow palette, one foundation, etc. The only exceptions are (1) I will usually pack 2-3 lip colors because I usually have like a "fancy" lip and a more lowkey, nude lip. And occasionally I will bring a second eyeshadow palette particularly if I'm going to be gone for a while and if my outfits/circumstances sort of require a more polished look. But 9 times out of 10, it's just one of each!
Loved this!! I'm always trying to condense my travel situation. For this past trip, I got a Salt New York palette and I was able to fit bronzer, blush, and highlight in there, along with tons of eyeshadows. It worked out perfectly! 💜💙💚
I did a local-ish trip (6 hours away by car) last week and it was the first time that I didn't overpack on clothes. Wanting "options" usually gets me in trouble with overpacking. Bringing items that have multiple uses helped...I imagine the same can be said for makeup packing.
Finished watching the video and just wanted to say thank you for the real talk on packing what I’m actually going to use. Bc I know that but I usually don’t listen. So this time I’m gonna try and pack smart lol
Lol when I’m driving somewhere I overpack. I’m going to Tennessee with friends in a couple weeks, I have a train case ready to go. Usually I bring things that are favorites but not limited edition. Anything that can be replaced. This time I’m bringing my ice cream dream palette, and a palette of special eyeshadow singles. One foundation, one concealer. 3 eyeliners, a face palette, a mini bronzer, a moisturizer, one primer, one mascara, one brow powder, 3 lip products. And that’s it lol.
Ooh love this idea. We are going somewhere next month and I needed this! Of the top of my head, I’m thinking my Kosas cream blush and highlight combo in Tropic Equinox as well as my medium Alamar blush trio for starters. Then maybe my elf bite size palette in Truffles and another small one (like a ND five pan) or maybe my Alamar volume 1 palette
When we take a trip back home, I cant resist the urge to pack a few of the extra special fun pretty sparklies that I know "the littles" would like to see or use lol, my little niece and another cutie of friends especially really enjoy it. My niece meticulously went thru my whole collection last time she was here lol, was very commited to opening every. single. darn. lipstick.
@@naomilasby7744 haha! My parents and I usually have some assortment of events and parties to go to. More than usual so I just want to have different looks, plus as they age, they don’t want to go as much, so doing my mom’s makeup can be a fun way to spend the afternoon.
@@Kimberly_Sparkles love it 💗. One time when I was at my moms, the last of my brow pencil broke after doing one brow and fell into the void of the bathroom and😔, my next best option was a dark brown eyeshadow that was definitely too warm. Packing lightly bit me in the butt big time 😆, options can be nice as you never know what's gonna happen. But with that being said, I am usually quite strategic with my choices and can definitely keep it reasonable. Have a great day Kimberly.
LOVE 💕 that makeup organiser!!! Any suggestions for a similar one since the one you listed is discontinued? I’ve been looking everywhere with no luck. Help please 🌟🥰💓😻🌸
Ugh, I always pack like I'm crossing the Sahara on foot. 🤦🏻♀️ The best I ever did was an overnight work trip, where I only packed 1 change of outfit and 1 of everything. However, I tend to start to lose perspective the longer the trip. However, I'm starting to feel like going away for a week, I'd only bring 2 eyeshadow palettes, probably 1 premade and one of singles so I can tailor what I want. I also don't want to bring anything especially special or expensive. I doubt I'd pack any of my Clionadh shadows as I'd be heartbroken if something happened.
Lauren “I didn’t want to bring anything to fragile”. As she proceeds to pack her $25 singles from clionadh 😬😬🤣 your a f ton braver than me. I can’t even work up to buy any, that price scares me so much. I have so many others that I don’t feel like I missing out, but I wouldn’t bring any of those either.
I overpack 🤦♀️ I visit family for a 3-4 weeks every summer. These trips I’m ok packing more because I’m gone so long. I generally put my pallets only in my carry on. I have had several break before. The rest of my stuff is packed in my checked bag. This current trip I’m on I only brought 4 or 5 pallets. Earlier in the year I spent a month with mom and had 7 plus ordered 2 BH pallets while I was there. While I did use all of them it was more then what I needed. 🤦♀️
I’m so simple… I bring my missha bb cream and a concealer… a face palette (multitasks), a powder because I’m oily and mascara- whatever lip thingy is in my handbag… and my skincare pared down
I concentrate on bringing cheaper products when I travel, so it won’t be as big of a deal if they get damaged/lost.
Same! I bring my whatever products unless I have a wedding to go to or something. When traveling my makeup is just “I’m not a slob”.
SMART
I am the same or a travel size of something if it cost more
Great idea TBH, I’m going to remember that next time I travel!! I am going to have to find dupes for all my faves I use day to day!!
Same! This is always my strategy when packing my makeup.
"Lucky Products That Won a Vacation" lol love it
I just returned from a trip and I really held myself to things I would actually use and I did really well. I think I used almost everything and that made me feel accomplished
I like how you gave specific tips/advice rather than just products.
P.S. I always love your hair styled this way!
Ugh for me the hardest part is packing the correct amount of brushes, makeup sponges, etc! I have some chunky brushes which take up SO much space in my makeup bag on trips and I always feel like I'm wasting that room!
You can get an MSQ travel set that lives in your carryon suitcase for €9…

I have never even heard of the brand. Will have to check it out.
I didn't wear makeup in the old days. And we're about to go on our first trip since everything started so this was helpful.
I visit my now fiance on the weekends and this is so real. And after lockdown.....the overpacking is crazy!!
Perfect timing!❤️
I did a local-ish trip (6 hours away by car) last week and it was the first time that I didn't overpack on clothes. Wanting "options" usually gets me in trouble with overpacking. Bringing items that have multiple uses helped...I imagine the same can be said for makeup packing.
Haven’t each watched the video yet but this is perfect timing! Very current issue I’m having this week. Lol
Finished watching the video and just wanted to say thank you for the real talk on packing what I’m actually going to use. Bc I know that but I usually don’t listen. So this time I’m gonna try and pack smart lol
Excellent tips!
Very helpful video!!! 💓👍
Your hair is so freaking cute.
I need this video--have a bachelorette week next month and I'm trying to streamline my makeup bag in 2021.
STUNNING EYES, GIRL!
I saw the title and without having watched more than the intro, I offer you a humble🌟no🌟
🤣🤣🤣Okay back to the video
I have an unexpected trip next week and am so happy to get these tips from you!!
I'm going to London next week and I needed this so much!? I'm a dreadful over packer!!
I love this neutral look on you! 🥰 You look radiant
Literally that FAB coconut primer is my one must have if I'm packing haha
I'm going on a trip in a week and really needed this video. I always pack too much.
When I go home to see my parent, I pack SO MANY PALETTES. Why? Sometimes I spend a big part of the day just doing fun looks for holiday parties.
Help please 🌟🥰💓😻🌸
oh no. I'm also packing for vacation today/tomorrow. ....I should probably watch this video. I am a chronic overpacker for ALL aspects of packing.
Thank you so much for this video! I’m going on a trip soon, so this was helpful!❤️
So random but you are so beautiful and I love your make up aswel xx
Lauren “I didn’t want to bring anything to fragile”. As she proceeds to pack her $25 singles from clionadh 😬😬🤣 your a f ton braver than me. I can’t even work up to buy any, that price scares me so much. I have so many others that I don’t feel like I missing out, but I wouldn’t bring any of those either.
I overpack 🤦♀️
I visit family for a 3-4 weeks every summer. 🤦♀️
I’m so simple… I bring my missha bb cream and a concealer… a face palette (multitasks), a powder because I’m oily and mascara- whatever lip thingy is in my handbag… and my skincare pared down
I am hooked to your eyes .. so beautiful! Love from India!
That eye look is so stunning!
This makeup look 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
