One of my absolute core memories from my teenage years living at home was watching your video about the cheetah print Lori Greiner makeup case kit, which I ordered in pink and used for a literal decade (through most of high school, moving across the country for college, studying abroad for a year, traveling all over Europe, living in and beginning my career in a totally unfamiliar city, being engaged, planning a wedding, going on my honeymoon, and moving into our first home together) because of you. I'm actually on the hunt for a new set of bags now (the pink ones are still fabulous but just want something fresh, new, and not so stained/worn haha), so this is such great timing!
WOW - I remember the intricacies of the Lori Grenier makeup bags so well!! How awesome that its took you through so many milestones of life - I love that! Here's to more stages of life with our makeup bags haha!! :D

I’m totally with you on the getting up early and enjoying putting my makeup on. I do it every single day and I don’t work in an office anymore and some days no one sees me except my family but it just feels normal to me to have my face done for the day. Some people really don’t get it lol.

I got a new job where I’m remote and I still do my makeup in the morning. It relaxes me and I just love starting my day that way.

Thanks for recommending the “old school” cover girl eyeshadow in shimmering sands and the blush trio ( I got peach instead of sophisticated sable)… really pretty on the skin and lasted all day. 😉 loved the feeling of revisiting makeup I remember when I was younger…it’s incredible how they haven’t changed the packaging much.
I have that hourglass palette and it’s the best most complete one they’ve done yet. Plus there is an elephant on it. ❤🐘
I am totally with you on loving me time for my makeup application, I could do my makeup in 10 minutes if I had to, but I love my hour of me time in the morning.

Traveling soon myself. Like you I have my favorites in minis packed and set aside just for trips. Also I pack my makeup as I apply it to make sure I do not forget anything. I bought Laura Gellar’s quad Party in a pallet this year instead of It Cosmetics Beauty book for travel. Thanks for the lighting idea!😊

I love that makeup bag! And thank you for the reminder about the CoverGirl three-pan blush compact; I bought the Purely Plum combo which is perfect for my berries and purply tones in fall-winter eye shades with my very pink undertones. And for the NYX Epic Smoke liner in Nude Haze - I used to wear this same tone of brown in an old Avon crayon years ago,but have not been able to find that exact color and toned down intensity! Emily, you're such a great resource!

Thank you Emily, great ideas! Another tip if you want to pack ahead is to apply your makeup using what you’ve packed in the bag. This was you can see if you’re missing anything before you travel.

When my son slept with us at that age, I always called it the "Figure H" sleeping position: head touching Mom, feet touching Dad, his body at a 90° angle to ours. It was kind of funny, seeing two adults hanging onto the edges of a king size bed with a little guy spread out between them! Good memories! My son just turned 30, but I can see him as clear as day in my memories of that time. Thanks for reminding me, Em!
This was very helpful!! We traveled for 3 months in our RV, and I used the same logic for what I packed. I’d like to recommend something to keep your brushes safe. It’s by the (brand)Novovo 100 packs brushes pen makeup guard. They expand to fit any size brush. No weird shaped brushes.

I keep seeing that Mario palette, and it reminds me of the Ulta Every Day Favs palette (which is what I took this past weekend on a short trip.) I"m gonna use this as a template for packing!! Emily, I had an idea while I was doing my makeup and thought you'd enjoy this topic. Unexpected holiday palettes. Shopping your stash for palettes that at a glance don't seem festive for the season but have the potential to give you a holiday look with what you have. I did this with my Sydney Grace Tiny Marvels palette and thought you'd be up to the concept.

I am the same EXACT way Em...my kids are all adults but years of having to get up early ..I naturally get up early, usually by six am. I love getting up, showering and doing my makeup...its relaxing and therapeutic to me. I need that makeup bag !!

I did a 3 week bike trip in Europe and loved purito bb cream (extremely limited shade range-boo), makeup forever powder foundation, elf brow pencil, hourglass ambient edit palette and buxom lip gloss. Felt put together the whole time and very lightweight for the bike panniers!

I also pack as I get ready the day before so I can have everything ready to leave the next morning. I sometimes apply makeup in the car as soon as the sun is in the perfect spot for good lighting.

Thank you for the review of the Colourpop Not a Box of Chocolates eyeshadow pallet! IMHO, this is the best palette they have done next to the original Hocus Pocus palette and I've a bin full of just Colourpop palettes! It's my new go to for a quick eye look!

Emily I have fallen in love with Hard Candy Primer and the WnW tinted moisturizer. I also pulled a Revolution had large palette I got at Marshall’s last year and never used and it is actually very good. I was shocked how pigmented they were and they lasted all day. I wish I had been using it all this time. But things I used today all your favorites. Lol and now mine

That is a great bag for traveling with checked bags or a road trip! My challenge is when we fly with just carry-on. Here in Canada we are only allowed 50 ml of liquid each ( that includes toothpaste and lipsticks), so It is so difficult to choose what to bring.
I'm excited to see this. I have trouble finding a way to get packed up and go.
I forgot to share this tip until almost the end - but pack makeup as you're doing your makeup... a great way to not forget any steps! :)

Emily, those blush sticks. Instead of swiping them over the face with the risk of moving your foundation, you can also pick up the product with a brush like that Elf small tapered brush you had with you. I have that same brush (it's wonderful) and have done this with stick products and it works absolutely beautiful. I like it even more than swiping, the application is more seamless.
