madison square garden germany music rammstein amerika ich nu
They are totally dissing america... everyone else seems to get the joke except, of course, americans...😅
Your comment needs to be higher ! This song is totally criticizing the USA and their diplomatic and politic empire as well as their culture hegemony. It's not just "a tasteful of America"
Yeah, it's a total diss of America. Nobody really likes America except for Americans.
The problem is that to the rest of the world, Americans seem very stuck up. And the fact that they're almost trying to take over the world with their products, entertainment, war, etc.
Of course not all Americans are seen this way. You seem like a nice guy. But almost every other American is seen this way
@@Ben_Jones that is a bit racsist to say nobody likes them, that's not true, im german, i like american cultrure but i'm critizing them all the time for political, economical or cultural reasons, but i do that also with other countries... also the song was produced in the bush-era ... that was a bad time to be an american in the perspective of the rest of the world
The americans are so "everyone love us", its so stupid.
@@MitgliedT5 I'm sorry but American isn't a race, so it's not racist.
Also, I shouldn't have said nobody likes America. That's exaggerated for effect. But you even stated the main reasons why most people don't like them.
Also notice how I said that it doesn't apply to all of them, but it's the view that most people have of USA.
I do know that some European countries will have USA parties where they all dress up and act the way that the American media portrays itself, which is that everything in America is awesome. So I know that a lot of people want to have that American dream that they're fed every day. But I also know that even more people see that cockiness and it makes them dislike American's.
Alex: "tasteful, not mockery"
Rammstein: "COCA COLA, SOMETIMES WAR!"
right: Cocoa Cola, Wonderbra :-)
@Derek Charette calm the fuck down dude
@@Schreinerpower coca cola wunderbar
@@carloschibinskineto4703 No wonderbra
It is 3 times different
first time it is coca cola wunerbar
Second time it's coca cola wonder bra
and third time it is coca cola sometimes war
I find it hysterical that they added the lyrics "this is not a love song" because they felt like americans wouldnt get it otherwise, and some of them STILL dont get it 😂
Imagine loving your country so much that you're almost blind/deaf to criticism of it lol. I'm not saying that this is the case with this man bc I've only watched a handful of his videos. I'm just generalising bc I've seen many american reactors getting a headache trying to figure out the meaning behind the song (and sometimes failing hilariously).
Nicely lifted from Pil’s track of the same name 👍🏻

@@Gjgzzdtalot of americans say that critic of the usa is straight up hate and shit talking 😂😂
This song is a pretty obvious middlefinger to US "cultural" colonialism. US movies, US music, US gadgets, sell sell sell!
yesss!!!! so good to read that. usa is the cancer of the world, and marilyn manson is one of my favourite artists pretty much because he says things that americans really don't wanna listen, but they should
@@paulovcg10 Dude calling an entire country and all of its people a cancer is kinda extreme don't you think? How is the average American to blame for the consumption of American products overseas? How do you fault American businesses for doing what EVERY business is made to do (i.e. sell stuff and make money)? It is not the duty of every nation/company/individual to advance the interests of their own people first?
@@garrhettroebuck8402 Agreed.
Here I see lots of foriegn vehicles being used since it's every businesses perogative to make money. As a people, we are flawed and have lots of domestic problems; but I see that as all countries have their problems. Our political regime now is and has been garbage for over 50 years.
But even Deutschland is a love-hate song.....but yes Amerika with k, as in German
Always made me laugh that Ramstein would diss the US for their soft power while playing a type of music that is pretty much originated from the US... I mean come on. As if Germany was that different.
This is not a love song
This is not a love song
I don't sing my mother tongue
No, this is not a love song
I wonder if they played that version in the US... Unless i missed it, ahah
@@eviltoe7432 Yeah, they played it. Well actually it's a song against amercanism not really against America per se but you can hear it clearly in the line "Coca-Cola sometimes war". I am a german philologist so if you need some help by the interpretation of their songs hit me up. After all we are a dope ass community here.
@@Doomtramper1 Ahh right, nice one. Thanks for the clarification :)
@@Doomtramper1 the lyrics are not to be taken LITERALLY but .. its a irony about how the United States of America ( GOD I HATE HOW THEY CALL THEMSELVES "AMERICAN" BUT AMERICA IS TEH CONTINENT!! .. NOT THE COUNTRY ALONE!!>,< sorry sidetracked...) is all over the world
Bück Dich is a love song. So is Pussy.
Coca-Cola, sometimes war.
"This is not a love song."
No, they sing in German language: "Coca-Cola wunderbar", in English: Coca-Cola wonderful
jhei65 they sing „sometimes war“ aswell. You should check the lyrics again.
@@jhei6527 coca-cola, Wonderbra :)
@@jhei6527 in fact they sing "Coca-Cola, Wonderbra" the first time and later "Coca-Cola, sometimes war".... There wouldn't be any reason in this song to declare Coca-Cola as "wunderbar" ;)
"Coca-Cola, sometimes war" is an amazing lyric
Totally true seeing as they are such warmongers only they hide it very well.
MrGunner2504 I KNOW they literally handling them as a plague
Not so far from reality by the way :)
To an extent, Rammstein is a product of WWII. Seeing as some of (maybe all, I'm not sure.) Were from East Berlin. So I mean. Even though the US didn't storm Berlin itself, they certainly helped the push for the Red Army. So. In my book, they're a product of the war machine, that was aided by, and still is aided by the United States.
ʏᴠɴɢ ᴠɪᴄᴇ Theyre a product of the Berlin Wall and Berlin being split into east and west.
Source: Am german, saw all the interviews etc
So, indirectly the WWII, yes, but theyre influenced by the 90s the most.
Dont why Im leavin this comment, but this song isnt about patriotism. Its about the blind embrace of western culture in the east. Its pretty obvious
@WHY THAT Is "soft" the "Implement our plan or starve/burn" type power?
it's more about american culture worming its way through the rest of the world, not even specifically the east
@@clydefrosch The video makes this very obvious. Americans didn't force people to buy coca cola, pizza and disney. But American culture is MASS culture. It's consumer culture. It's aspirational culture. It's not difficult to understand because America doesn't have that kind of historically contingent, particularistic culture, instead American ideology is universalizing. It says "everyone can be like us! All you need to do is consume our stuff and you too can make it as an American!" The world became richer, and immediately what they could buy were American cultural exports, so American culture went everywhere. It's hegemonic. But not because of a nefarious plot, not because Americans forced it on anyone. It just has the tragic effect of replacing a deep, rich historical culture with a pretty shallow, consumerist American one.
@@michaellopate4969 Eh - it is a mixture of both. The lyrics made it clear at least two times that if you want to join the American culture, you can, and if you don't want to, you must.
American culture in the world*
No, Coca Cola isn't European culture
Alex: “I can’t help but think they’re trolling...”
Me: “that’s because they are!”
Amerika is the German spelling of America.
This song is not a love song (like the lyrics say). Quite the contrary. It's about the spread of American influence/culture around the world. And not always the good influence.
"Amerika" in Swedish too and many Scandinavian, north European languages too. Sorry for off-topic, just wanted to add :)
We also say "Amerika" in Turkish.
its also the dutch spelling
thought it was Europe that spred infuence and culture since they colonized the entire world
A wise man once said: "you know you're a great band when you sold out a concert on american soil and you dont even speak english".
Tha Anark, and they did several times.
I’m very sure they don’t want to be American
Darauf kannst du wetten. You can bet on that.
WE dont want to be american ! ^^
The USA was always an inspiration for them growing up in the GDR. This song is particular an answer to the military actions after 9/11 and the general hysteria which came up after 9/11.
@@gonzo2495 An inspiration on how you do not want to be. :D
He said he read the lyrics. I don't think so
In German, the letter "c" is often replaced with "k" so thats why the song is called Amerika. The song is about the spread of American culture around the world
Well to be nitpicky, its the other way round, in english they replace the K with a C as it was created by mixing germanic with french, the actual old english would be more like gaelic in ireland.
@@harz632 yeah I just simplified it to make sense to someone who primarily speaks English
DEMONITIZED
It's against the spread of american culture.
yeah, its not about patriotism
This song is more sarcastic. It says: America is "helping" everyone wether they want or not. Everyone has to follow them. Everyone has to do what they want. They want to rule they world by saying everything they do is fine for you and you better do what they say. Coca Cola and Mickey Mouse are everywhere.
Wir bilden eine leiben reigen can be translated as "we picture a loving regime" which is sarcastic as hell.
@@micmac274 "einen Reigen bilden" is starting a round-dance , where everybody is happy

Ruediger Mehlmann yes and in germany he sing >>> this is not a love song >>> fuckin mickey mouse 😎✌🏼
Actually your mom shows it the best way: "... they want to be Americans, too". No, they don't want it and you just can't seem to understand that. She marks it with a red pencil what the song is about:
People don't hate people... But that attitude.
@Alex Hefner: you almost got it right with "they are trolling". But it is even more than that. It is about "invading" minds. I don't mean it "anti americans" but "anti america". You almost got the point with "I hated my school". In Germany we try to be proud of ourselves and our own achievements - not our school, our team or our heritage. But to be fair: we also have a lot of a**-holes here... In every way. I guess that is what diversity is - it includes the people even if they are against diversity.
To help you understand some lyrics and content: the lyrics are like America is seeing the world as a big party and plays the music of "freedom" the others dance to. It seems harmonic... But there is a twist :
"Wer nicht tanzen will am Schluss,
weiß noch nicht, dass er tanzen muss"
means
"if you don't want to dance, we will force you to dance".
Wrong "Who doesn't want to dance at the end, doesn't know that he will have to dance."
Americans will have to overcome their ingrained nationalism to appreciate/understand/empathize with the lyrics. But then again the song wasn't made for them... but for practically everyone on this planet but us-americans.
Well I agree up to the translation of the lyrics at the end.
"Wer nicht tanzen will am schluss, weiß noch nicht dass er tanzen muss"
I think it's better translated with
"Who doesn't want to dance in the end doesn't know that he has to dance"
It's not about making them dance but more about that they want to dance deep down
7:04 Yes, there's actually a town in germany called Ramstein which is known for a flightshow accident in the late 80s which was the inspiration for Rammstein's name. The band was originally called Flugschau Rammstein (Flightshow Rammstein) before renaming themselves to just Rammstein. Also, they named the band Rammstein with two m because they simply didn't know the town was spelled with just one
Ramstein is actually a US military base from the 1951's, which the All-Americans opened due the time they occupied that german sector. It even is until now a US, airbase and the ground itself is actually American property. The town you're referring to btw is Ramstein-Miesenbach which is german property, but built around said airbase.
It’s not American property, it’s German. The US rents it from the German government.
not exactly... Ram(m)stein is a double meaning... with one m is the town and military base.. and spelled with 2 m is a old medievel weapon to protect the huge gates... a huge stone for protecting the door from ram. a ram stone.. in german rammstein...
@@funnypete3802 The first name the band gave themselves was Rammstein Flugschau [Rammstein Air Show].
@@tosa2522 Die Basis Ramstein hat nur 1 M wenn du die deutsche Sprache sprichst würdest du es wissen. And now use google Translate... !!
"this is not a love song" should be a statement for americans to make it easier to understand that this isn't...Well...a love song.
Makes them wish they were American? I'm sorry but I've NEVER encountered a German who wants to be American lmao.
The song is a critique/mockery of american imperialism/hegemony
German girl in America. Not neccesarilly become but living there.
@Tsukuyomi That's the typical statement of people who feel, like they are superior and get offendended. "Let them talk, they are just jealous."
America got off easy.
They are criticizing germany as well in the song "Deutschland" quiet harshly (nothing wrong with that, I'd say - as a german)
Self reflection is important. Overly glorifying a country or person is delusional.
People should open their eyes and think for themselves and should NEVER think they are better than everybody else.
Think about these two lines:
"Und wer nicht tanzen will am Schluss,
(And who does not want to dance at the end
)
Weiß noch nicht das er Tanzen muss"
(Does not know that he must dance)
perfect description of what america is right now.
Obey and accept your slave role or you will be

I've always loved this song. That line at the end "I don't sing my mother's tongue" always gets me. I'm a native American from the US and I don't speak either of my native languages(Anishinabe/Iroquois). I totally get this song.

One of the things that sets them apart from a lot of bands, is if one of their members needs a break, they all take a break. it's how they stayed together with all the original line up. Plus they make the music they want, not what everyone else wants.
"Something thats different about them, but i cant pinpoint it!"
THEY SING GERMAN!!
It’s their extreme German-ness filtered through heavy industrial sounds - yet somehow without taking themselves too seriously - that makes them unique.
I'd say it's how well the synths blend into the heavy guitar riffs that makes them unique in terms of sound.
"They just have some element about them that I can't pinpoint it separetes them from every other band that I ever heard in my life.": it's german
They have some kind of german exoticness in their music. Like System of a down has an armenian/oriental vibe.
I thought the exact same thing when he said it.
Yes, Rammstein are german. So are Scorpions, Helloween, Blind Guardian, Edguy, Avantasia, Kreator, Sodom and Heaven Shall Burn, among many others.
Do you guys not listen to real metal, or are you all just indoctrinated with thinking FFDP and Disturbed is all there is over there? :D
The one thing that makes Rammstein unique is Till Lindeman and his lyrical ability. Very few writers are at his level.
@@ThunderZtormDK Uh, I don't know about Sodom and Heaven Shall Burn, but all the others you listed sing mostly in English, while Rammstein sings mostly (if not entirely) in German, which was the point I was making.

Guten tag alle!
Seems like nobody commented it yet so here a short story of the band's name:
Ramstein (pronounced neither how your Mom nor you did it [but you were closer]) is indeed a town in Germany. It is home to a US airbase. The largest US airbase outside of the US in fact. The base is in a lot of controversy nowadays because it is crucial to the US drone warfare in the Middle East. However the base was infamous for a different reasons in the 90s as Rammstein the band was founded. In 1988 a flight show on the airfield ended in a tragic accident. 70 people died, some 1000 were injured. The US military bungled the rescue and medical first response rather badly by not working with the German emergency services properly. Some units standing by for exactly such case were not activated immediately or at all, ambulances were stopped at the base gate instead being let in immediately, the injured were transported offsite without getting any care at all (as if it was a active combat zone) instead of being treated on the spot. These blunders worsened the impact of the accident. The band Rammstein formed 4 years later and named themselves "Rammstein Flugschau" (Flugschau - air show) after the tragedy. And yes the city is spelled with one M while the band is spelled with two. The reason is that the lead singer misspelled the name.
The accident it self, was two planes colliding mid air, nearly directly above the audience, covering them with burning jet fuel. The song Rammstein would be interesting to do a reaction on..
Alex: rammstein has something different from ever other band I've ever heard
Me: they have German
Why do Americans always seem to think we all want to be like them? Lol.
Not all Americans

Just take a look at the government systems
Because you do. You buy our movies, listen to our music genres and follow our pop culture. Much like Rome to all the neighboring countries around it. Because it’s so popular like anything else that’s popular there’s usually a lot of annoyed people that criticize it
@@theviking8513 actually, no, we don't. Of course we watch your movies and listen to your music. The US is a huge market for both. But do we want our kids killing each other in school shootings? "This is not a love song ... I don't speak my mother's tongue no this is not a love song" ... I agree a 10000%
REACT TO ICH TU DIR WEH
This song is about the "americanization" in the world and it's more than fun. It's real critical stuff but the live version here misses a few lyrics, like the "this is not love song" part.
Alex, check out the video version of this song, then you'll even more understand. Please do it for yourself.
I know that you cannot react to the official videos, cause they got banned.
Sooo, now your mother is my hero for both, knowing about the city this band is named after, AND the Scorpions...who'd have thought...
Dark Moor - Maid of Orleans
Iron Mask - Oliver Twist
Amorphis - Silent Waters
Metallica - Halo on fire

"Rammstein concert : How much it cost ?" Betwin 80-100£ or 90-125€ in 2019
"This is not a love song, I don't speak my mother's tongue." - Clearly this refers to Americans once being pioneers and coming from all over Europe to America and yet they do not know about their heritage anymore and only speak English now.
Allegaeon “Proponent for Sentience III “
Allegaeon “Gray Matter Mechanics “
Pantera “Slaughtered “
*You should react to poppy “I disagree” and “Scary Mask” and concrete and X. Hehe.*
Shadow Hunter He’d be in for a pleasant surprise haha
poppy doing metal now?
j *yea and it’s been one hell of a ride so far. She recently signed with a new record label where she will continue this Nu metal genre for her music*
@@MrJannikH just saw her open for Bring Me The Horizon and Sleeping With Sirens this past Thursday. Absolutely bizarre, creepy, uncomfortable, weird, and not bad. Her band plays in a black latex one piece full body suits with long platinum blond wigs, and a latex mask in the shape of her face with the eyes and mouth cut out like they cut her face off and wasa wearing it
@@ianhmz that's fucking mad what the hell ahahaha. I never really watched Poppy for obvious reasons but I always thought she was kinda cool for some reason, now that she's doing metal I have mad respect.
"I think dey are trolling"
On one day you are going to read the lyrics on songs you cant understand. You shuld do this allways.
Du
Du Hast
Du Hast a redhead in the crowd with an apparent wardrobe malfunction at 2.50 and again at 3.40
Damn boy, You missed the point of the song
Alex, you should react to Periphery - Satellites , you will love it.
Rammstein is indeed a location in Germany, a small town where once an airplane (or two can't remember) crashed into the crowd during an airshow. This was during the 80's and they named their band after the tragedy. Their song Rammstein tells this story as well.
Rammstein was the best live band I've ever seen. It was mindblowing.
"Rammstein" from Live aus Berlin
Should be clear there's a 1998 version and newer 2019 version. Theatrics are awesome in both but sound quality would be better from the '98 version.
You should react to
Von Raven - The moment you die
Pagan's mind - Through Osiris eyes
Gorgoroth - Carving giant
As much as I love bands like Slipknot Rage and Disturbed, Rammstein are the most consistent and ever improving band I've heard.
Next year 2022 i'am going for my 3th time to Rammstein concert. They are great. Greets jacco from Holland
After The Burial- Lost In the static
React to Emigrate- “War”, it’s Richard’s (the guitarist) side project and it’s pretty good! Also recommended “Mein hertz brennt” by Rammstein, watch the official video because it’s so beautiful!

Rammstein is so amazing live, but their video clips are also super awesome! they just do everything so well.
"It makes me feel like they want to be American." Exactly what the song is about
"spelt with a K"
That's how it's spelt in German.
you can learn from Germany and german history: think about youself and why you are so proud, rise the flag and sing...WHY?
Ritual, propaganda, education, indoctrination- because everybody does it and it feels so good?
As a Person from Germany its super funny to watch other People watch Rammstein Videos
Your shoulder dance was epic! ^_^ thumbs up dude, cool video
