@@Zen.bassoonI have both 2S and 3+ and there is a night and day difference between them. New Rp2S layout is fantastic when you want to use D-pad and Play old retro games but when you try to use triggers with sticks then it's a far way from comfortable experience. Shell is to boxy and there is not enough room for fingers. Rp3+ is a different story, with additional grip it's so comfortable as my Steam Deck. Rp2S has better buttons but in overall Rp3+ with 16/9 screen is a better device.
Look up some of the system specific performance test videos for it on here. It's surprising how much extra performance can be squeezed out of this thing with properly tweaked settings and PAL isos.
For me this device is nearly perfect, but not quite good enough. It just needs a little more power so it can play PS2 and GC games better. I hope in the future a version comes out that uses the rk3588s chipset.
Nice review dude. I hope to see a drastic shift in these devices, I've got the original retroid pocket, just seems they revamp the shell with a tiny upgrade.
Fine but it is a small screen for that I'd go with something with a 16:9 screen vs 1:1 square. Retroid makes the Retroid Pocket 3+ which might be a bit getter for those games.
I have the Retroid Pocket 2+ and this is a great improvement. Dual hall analog sticks, analog triggers, a tad more powerful. This checks off many boxes for me.
This is a great video! is there any chance that using custom os can we get a better hdmi out thing so not 480 p. That seems like a great idea. I liked how he talked about streaming because that is something that a lot of people would like to do me included. thanks for this review! And I saw your giving away miyoo mini pluses! That's crazy! Is subscribing all I have to do?
Yup, got a few free ones and people want them so I'm just picking a few random subs over the next weeks. And thank you! As for output I'm not sure how great it is to screen. I would check our @retrogamecorps video he goes over that. I personally don't ever use it. I'll have to add it to my next vid.
@@DaveyG Ha ha I love retro game corps. I'm never allowed to get any retro handhelds so I like to experience the happiness through your guys's videos. Thanks you so much for making these videos I can experience!
the analog triggers and sticks look so good but it just looks like a big box with huge bezels, not to mention the slightly worse performance than the 3+
You said it plays up to PS one in the video and then went strait to gamecube but what about Nintendo 64 and Dreamcast? How does it do with those? Those would definitely be two systems I would want to play on the go for sure.
I feel murderous anger anytime someone says the word "colorway". It has the SFC "Theme". Theme is 1 syllable. Colorway is 3. 3 reasons to get punched in the mouth.
@@DaveyG I thought "colorway" comes from cuckolds referring to sneaker colors. My Windows, Linux, and Android UI's have a Dark "theme" with grays and black.
I bought the metal case one and should get here in a few days! I'm pumped to upgrade from the RG35XX.
I bought the 3+ and 2S same day. I just love that 16 bit color scheme. I have a feeling 4 is right around the corner but still
I think it is too they seem to have a new handheld every six months.
@@DaveyG I pre-ordered the regular 3 and cancelled it the night before release. I'm glad I did because the 3+ came out TWO months after that.
@nelsikegaming which one is better ergonomic?
@@Zen.bassoon still waiting on them to arrive!

So does it play N64 games ? And if so, how well ?
1. Yes
2. Very well. Even games that require the expansion pack run very well.
They do well, the GameCube and PS2 era is when this starts having problems.
I think it's cool and would love one, I really like the atomic purple one
I will say this handheld only good up to Dreamcast, PSP and NDS, never touch PS2 and GameCube.
Currently 4hrs into the wind waker. Look like it runs native 30fps games pretty well.dips here and there, but playable!
Look up some of the system specific performance test videos for it on here. It's surprising how much extra performance can be squeezed out of this thing with properly tweaked settings and PAL isos.
The hard to emulate games won't work, but a large amount of the PS2 and GameCube library will work fine with some settings tweaks.
Waiting for 100% GC and PS2 - maybe with the retroid 4!.
They could knock it out of the park with a 4 that has a tad more power and better ergonomics
Loved the video man! It is awesome that you are doing a give away! I am now officially subscribed!
Thank you and Yeah I got a few for free from another gig and though it would be good for the sub crew.

It plays GameCube games well
I think the next 16:9 pockets will hopefully have some of the hardware from this one, just a touch more power and it would slap
How is the temperature if I play only Dreamcast and PSP? Any issues?
I just got mine last week i love it but i wish the screen was a bit bigger. I chose this over the rp3+ because i liked this design way better.
The sticks and triggers are great!
Nice review dude. I hope to see a drastic shift in these devices, I've got the original retroid pocket, just seems they revamp the shell with a tiny upgrade.
If they use the sti ks and triggers with a bit more power and a slightly larger screen they have a whopper on their hands.
How does it do with Android games like Minecraft and Roblox? Asking for my kid. Good video. Thanks!

It really is the perfect retro handheld imo i like the 16bit color
Same!

I wish more companies would switchover to these sticks they rock. I can't stand the tiny joycon type sticks.
Basically the 2S is a refined and slightly more powerful Retroid Pocket 2
Yes
What's the space game on the right at 8:33?
Oh god!! I do the same pinky thing!! And I have tiny hands, I think it just what happens on smaller handhelds
It must be, great device...needs pinky rests 😅
OMG ! I ordered a Miyoo Mini + and FedEx delivered it to wrong place. I hope I win !
Good luck

Was gonna get this or miyoo mini, but this one has second joystick and more powerful
It can do waaay more
If i'm not mistaken It got a firmware update since your video. I think GC emulation is better now...
Wait how do you use analog triggers on ps2?? 😮 are you emulating the analog face buttons?
Thinking about getting this but should I also get a grip? 😅
depends how big those mitts are, you can always buy it after you get the device.
Cool I like this one
Subscribed! (for the give aways) ...
I seen a 2S for $50 at a local pawn shop, I might pick it up now.
Ooooooh 16 bit
Nice review!
Thank you!
Is this compatible with remote play? Or just cloud gaming?
It just needs more ram and to be compatible with SIM cards.
I want one so bad🔥
Downside is there are no games included when you but it
i kinda wish i would’ve held off a couple months to get the 2S, but at the same time it kinda looks way lamer than the 3+ to be frank
the analog triggers and sticks look so good but it just looks like a big box with huge bezels, not to mention the slightly worse performance than the 3+
They need to make a 4 to replace the 3+ with. Than use those sticks and triggers a hair more power and it would be a treat!
Nice review!
Dude never mentioned N64 🙄
Ikr it runs n64 with no problems to
Runs it no problem, I need to make a graph.
