In this video we take a 1943 Walnut stocked K31 and some 1984 production GP11 to the tower for some fun and comical banter at 611 yards. These rifles still represent some of the most accurate surplus rifles on the market although the prices have trickled up over the years just like anything else. Stay tuned guys, much more on the way.

We still use K31s for sports shooting at 300 meters with normal iron sights here in Switzerland. It's one of the best rifles ever made for a nations army.
Jealous. I only have one and you could probably literally swim in them.
if a bolt action is a your thing, I guess.
Yeah sure is if your army consist of 300 guys and you stay out of every war so you can maintain the quality in rifles and not have to worry about making something that is fit for proper mass production.
Dear verycreativ = You're a cretin - you obviously don't know sh*t about how the Swiss defense system works! Google it. It took me 90 seconds to find out the numbers of K-31 produced, and you're out by 3-4 orders of magnitude. But don't worry about facts - just sprout off your big, fat mouth.
shoot twice and go home.
I have a 96/11 manufactured in December of 1897. A beautiful weapon that those before me have taken care of and which my son will eventually get. It is my main deer hunting rifle. Just a pleasure to shoot, clean and admire.
The Swiss makes unbelievable accurate ammo for their military rifles. Our army (Dutch) uses Swiss Ruag 'T' stamped 5,56 Nato ammo for our Diemaco's and Minimi's (2006 manufactured). I pulled a bunch apart and weight the powder charge, bullet and case. And the consistency is amazing. I shot a few over the chronograph and the everage bullet speed was 928 m/s with a spread of 6 m/s. Shot out of my NM accurized AR15, it shot 0.80 MOA groups at 100 meters. I used that ammo at a 600 yards match (prone, slow fire and no bench) and I won the match with a group size of 30 centimetres (12 inches? ). I wish that ammo was sold to the public, because the only Swiss RUAG ammo we can but is the 55 grain and the expensive 69 grain ammo. The Swiss really know what they are doing.
Couple buddies at the range with a milsurp rifle at long range misquoting movies with terrible accents... sounds like my idea of a good time!
any day
Cheers from Switzerland!
Hi to neighboor :)
I just recently shot GP11 that was produced in 1961. It worked perfectly fine with the K31. Love the Swiss quality
that sound of reloading the next shell... DAMN so nice!!
Chocolate, watches and guns. The Swiss only make badass stuff.
Max Maguire i also enjoy their holy cheese
And most importantly, without the knife, MacGyver would have been completely screwed.
@@j.rob.5943 Shame they made good stuff too
@SwissArmy1984 What are you talking about?! Im swiss and switzerland has one of the highest immigrant rates in the whole world.
You forgot knives
For you guys watching, the sights aren't set for bullseye holds past 200.
They're graduated for bullseye holds at 1 and 200, then 6 o'clock 300+ so the soldier can see what he is shooting at.
These 600 yard videos are pretty fun to watch, keep it up.
yeah that Martini Henry video suckered me into buying one :) lol it seems to be in really good shape though no pitting under the barrel at all ( had me nervous after looking at some of the pic's on google) it doe's have a cracked butt stock at the bottom, but it was repaired.... looks pretty good... now I just need some ammo lol.... I wish they would of made this video first, from what I see these rifle's sale for $340? I only bought the Martini because the MK IV was normally $625 untouched... they went on sale for a few day's for $475.... couldn't resist... but damn now I see this... so many great gun's.... not enough money :(
+akshooter762 like we really need persuasion :)
akshooter762 grab some 8mm antiques like any mauser or gewehr from 1888-1898 they're all pretty decent with decent actions and they shoot ammo that you can find with some ease aka 8mm Mauser, I have a couple for sale but you can norm find them between 275(if ur lucky with timing) and 800, some of them are worth it some aren't you decide lmao
Eric and Chad I appreciate the attention you give to old guns and complement on the historical significance they have. In addition I make a point to watch all of your videos. Whether it's on the range, talk of current bills before Congress, mounting scopes, you guys cover it all and do a fantastic job explaining your way through it. You are a gift to the 2A community. Thank you!
this is what shooting is all about. awesome video. I've got an all matching K98 that needs a range day like this!
The crack of the shock-wave downrange is pretty nice.
These are great. I have a suggestion. Place the camera above and directly behind the shooter. We'll see the trace and get a good idea of where the rounds are impacting. At the current angle, we have no good perception of where the rounds are landing relative to the target.
EXCELLENT !! This is exactly why I love range time with old milsurps. To be honest, getting the rifle sighted in is most of the fun.
Thank you both!!! I just bought a 1956 K 31, haven't had it to the range yet, but your videos have been amazing!!! I appreciate the efforts you have made and the channel is wonderful..
Thanks guys for taking the time to bring out the K31 and show people just how good these rifles are! Thanks to Eric I've become a K31 and M39 addict...lol...if it wasn't for Eric showing off these wonderful mil-surps, I would of never known just how much fun they are...so thanks guys please keep video's like these coming:)
I enjoyed your little explanation about the origins of the channel and how you are trying to save the knowledge and appreciation for older military weapons. I love nostalgia too, and that's totally what you/we want to preserve!
My k-31 was made in '57.
The most accurate milsurp I've ever used. And gp-11 kicks ass. I've got a scope on mine though. A clamp on mount. My old eyes
Nice shooting guys.
If you remove the butt plate there may be a piece of paper with the soldiers name to which the rifle was originally issued.
I removed mine, and indeed there was the tag with the last soldiers info on it.
Confirm
@@earlarthur9378 most possibly it was the first and only holder of the rifle.
@@Braun30 I tried to find the family is Switzerland but didn't get very far...
Earl Arthur can you give me name, address and AHV number? It‘s the 11 digit number that should be shown on the tag.
This is one of my favorite videos you guys have released in a while. Just getting to watch you guys play at the range and watch the gun in action is great, I hope you guys make more videos just like this.
awesome videos! great to see old rifles get down 600 yards. I like how ya'll didn't get it sighted in before filming, shows the process of getting everything dialed in. keep up the good work and awesome videos!
This is the gun that my grand parents used for their service :) I love my stgw 90 that I use in the army but the k31 is just a fantastic riffle ;)
From a Swiss based British guy that owns a K-31 I can really appreciate what you did there. Thanks guys.
Thanks for taking all of us Out to the range with you guys ! Enjoyed every shot !
Thanks guys y'all really opened my eyes to old mil guns and love shooting them again thanks
I appreciate when you show the misses and getting it dialed in. I'm a new shooter and It helps me see the reality of dialing it in.
mosin stripper clips work with GP11 and the K31, however they only hold 5 rounds where the proper swiss units will hold 6.
nice! ive got a 1940 k31 myself, love it and to be able to get fairly cheap surplus ammo that is extremely accurate and non-corrosive. great video guys as always
I love how you hear the rounds crack as they go past the camera. Super cool.
I appreciate your videos, great to see guys having fun at the range
Swiss guy here, aim bullseye from 100 to 200 and from 300 to max range you're supposed to hold at 6 o'clock so you dont block half the target with your front sight, glad to see one of our old rifle spit out some genuine GP11 tho!
You guys are great. Thank you for sharing this, & all of your videos with us. We really enjoy your channel here in BC...(CANADA!)🤙🏽
Got my K31 from my grandfather. It's from 1942 and I honor it.
perhaps a 1000 yard shootout between a m39 and the k31???
definitely be worth watching
How about a shoot-out: M39 vs K31 vs Enfield (No4 Mk1?) vs 1903a3 vs K98 at 600 yards? I think that covers most of the bases!
p H Just looked it up to check and Jerry Miculek claims to have shot at 1000 Yards with a pistol, not sure if it's a faked video or not but you can see for yourself.
Adrian Floristeanu ...yep! 1000 yards with a 9mm!!! And Elmer Keith shot and killed an elk at over 600 yards with a 6 inch 44 magnum!!
Behind Enemy lines...yeah..that would b epic! Believe Eric shoots a little better than Chad & with this said- maybe let Chad have the best shooter on each match, but one. One of the 3 match ups let Eric have the best shooter & in any of the match ups...each man can only have a dozen shots to find range/target with...then 10 rounds a piece for each match up. Awesome list of guns& would b well worth watching! #MAKE IT HAPPEN ERIC & CHAD!!
This rifle and that box of ammunition is exactly what I have and it is simply a great rifle on the range. Really, really accurate.
Good and interesting video Chad & Eric , thanks !
I don't know if you read my message, but I actually messaged y'all about this particular video a few months back. Thank you!
after seeing a review of Eric's K-31s a couple of years ago, I came across 2, at a week interval, bought both, a 1942 and a 1949. they both have the original slings, the 49 is full match, still have the dust cover cap for the barrel and the small paper with the name of the soldier it was given too under the buttplate. love them :)
love these kind of videos! can u also give a full 600 yard view with the camera just to show us what you guys r seeing down to the gong. thanks guys!
I like these just for fun videos. You can actually learn a lot too. All in all a good video thanks for posting. Hope to see more
Good video idea, maybe a verses video with the k-31, Finnish M-39, Swedish 96, and perhaps your other most accurate milsurp. One you deem worthy of the challenge. You could do 100 yards groups or even farther on paper or steel. That would be awesome. Just an idea, either way love the vids.
I went to a gun show just before Christmas about 2 years ago, a guy had a whole table full of K31's for around $300 a piece. I was looking for a handgun that day and was on a limited budget so I decided I would get one some other time. I'm kicking myself every time I see a K31 now.
This is by far my favorite series on UA-cam. Keep the 600 yard shoots coming. I have a PTR 91 with an Elcan M145 that I'd love to see up there
I love the k31 honestly it's my favorite milsurp.
Hello from Switzerland and thank you for this outstanding video. Keep up the good work!
I love the magazine on my K11 slides in so smooth!
Own two of them and really love the way this classic shoots.
I have a K31 that was fitted with a Lilja barrel chambered in 338 Fed. by L.P.R, also a Rock Solid scope mount and a custom Mesquite stock, AWESOME PIECE!!!
Good times....thanks for sharing it with us.
This might help a lot in cost savings. In any zeroing in of anything you shoot, get a very small target, and place it 30 yards from you. Shoot 3 rounds, to make a group. Check your target, and adjust to zero. Do 3 groups of 3 shots. It eliminates cross wind, and a lot of walking. You’ll get a much better average of what you, and your rifle are capable of. Then start adding yards, 100, 200, 300, and on up to your desired distances.
Love the 'process' real-life videos. Just like being there with you guys.
Finally! I've been waiting for this for so long.
Absolutely LOVE watching you 2 shoot long range, open sights with those old MilSurp rifles!!!
More Please!!! :-)
Would love to see the old gerand out there on the range... Love that gun :-)
Thanks Gentlemen !!!
Great video. Thanks guys!
Love my K31, more videos on these please!
I’m loving your range! What a great range to have at your disposal.
its awesome to hear the impact like that
At 600 yds you gotta aim low, the iron sights are calibrated at >300m to headshot a "dog" target with a hold on the bottom line. This is so the shooter can fully see what they are shooting at. Also, polymer clips are better for the money nowadays
Appreciate you helping people get interested these wonderful weapons.
I love my K31!
I got my K31 for all of $85 at Big 5 Sports, when they first came out stateside. It is the most accurate rifle I own, once shot a 0.43" group of five at 100+yds.
I'm going to do this exact same thing on sunday. Got invited to some private land for 5-600 yard shooting, and the K31 is definitely coming along. Thanks for showing me it's possible.
I really enjoy these videos thanks.
Great video guys!!
Nothing like shooting long range with iron sights! LOVE IT!!!! everyone is running scopes these days and it really saddens me, way to go guys!!
I love the way he throws the bolt open and ejects the case when he puts that pill on the money.
You succeed very well with the primary goal of your channel. I bought a Nagant because of you... Now I want a K31 !
No pressure! LOL Great video guys! I love the K31 Swiss and I hope to own one myself some day soon.
I have an all-matching, Beech-stocked K31 that I picked up before they became so popular. I think I paid around $70 for it. Still have a supply of GP11. When the weather warms up I will have to take the old gal out to the range.
Do the Gewehr 98 at 600 yards next
what?
interesting 477 and what does that have to do with this video. Save the politics for a politics page dick.
Reported. Gone.
Blocked as irrelevant.
Mario Saboni they should also do eriks K31 sporter, then have a lunch battle, they should also do a lot more shorter videos a the new range
That’s a really cool gun, specially with the history on it
holy crap nice to see Chad take the lead. awesome work guys.
Great stuff! Love it.
Love my K31, great video guys! :)
great video,as usual.both of my k31 's seem to have bee zeroed with a six o clock hold ,very accurate without ever adjusting the sights.the only complaint i've ever had is with the rear sling mount interfering with my face ,i just unclip it at the range
Keep this stuff coming, love it, steel and wood guns.
Eirc! Go easy on that trigger man! I've never seen someone run a 2 stage trigger like that
glad I weren't the only person too see that lol
Yeah he looks to be snatching at it.
Thanks for the video!
EXCELLENT JOB. THANK YOU.
"Some things under Heaven are just cooler'n Hell". This rifle is one of them!
Ever since I've read an article in the 2011 Gun Digest, I've wanted a K31.
Great video guys can't wait to see you shot the Mosin M39 @ 600yards.
Love these videos
Great video as usual.
Out of all surplus rifles, I like this one the most I think. I want one.
Hey guys I would love to see you’s shoot the a3 Springfield again at this range and also the k31 with diopter sights would make for a awesome video with the great specs and historical background of the rifles like always keep up the Milsurp vids. Cheers all the way from Australia guys
I used to drive to Samco to buy ammo wish I would have bought one of the K31's then I bought the Persian Mauser hand select it was like new and is a great rifle too, when Iran was still called Persia it was hardly used.
Love these surplus rifles can't wait to get my own
there is a rear sight for the Swiss K31 with adjustments for wind and elevation. It was an issued sight.
Here in switzerland there are still such k31 around. Also have kept two good ones.. I'll probably turn around a little bit soon.
I also own an apc 9 from b & t. Already 2500 shots and still impeccably. My favorite sport weapon next to my benelli m4.
love these long range vids
Great vid. What a beautiful gun.
Fantastic video
Friggin Sling Blade accent/ references..... love it!
I'm a simple swiss man, I see a K31, I upvote.
I love these videos because of the minimal editing keep it up boys
Thanks for the morning chuckle after a tough night shift..
What an awesome piece of craftsmanship! A buddy just picked one of these up, boy are they getting up there in price! Can’t wait to shoot it!
Great video guys I felt like I was up there at the range with you have n a great time
Boy,.I wish I was an American. Just to own and shoot classic military surplus rifles.
