What an awesome philosophy on life. Sure seems like he has his shit together. My favorite shop tour so far
Anthony Molyneux wow! Thank you! I am not sure all my shit is together, but I sure try!
Garage Bound, LLC. I feel the same way about learning and having useful skills. Education is always a good thing but college is a suckers game. Get out there, use your hands and build some cool shit
Warms my coddles to see another hard workin friendly feller enjoying his work. You both get a gold star...
That was cool.. His shop, I could place 47 of my shops in his..lol... Thank you for sharing this tour. I feel inspired to build something now.. I love this feeling.. time to get busy..
He has it set up man. He is living the life. Being able to do what you love and love doing it goes a long way with leading a happy life.
That is very good to here. As am I Buddy. I envy your want for more and to learn new things. I’ve recently opened my doors to a lot more and I’m starting to do the same. Keep on keeping on brother!!!!
Starts right off with a 23 series Packard... i'm in.
RESPECT! For a shop that tells of a hardworking dude that knows his shit.
Good to see you doing well Adam and glad to see your in good company!
Awesome shop! I wonder if those big steadies would be close to the right size for my 40" swing Monarch? I used to have a COE Chevy like that. :-) Very cool to see his projects!
That turret drill press is neat.
And Woof to the bouncy dog!
Thanks.
What a cool guy. Thanks for introducing him to us, Adam. Those goggles are the bomb!
Lots of great stuff.... He is such a nice fellow engineer... Adam, you should do some machinist teaching sessions. You're so good at explaining how you do jobs...
Thanks for bringing us along.
Thanks Adam, always looking for a great new UA-cam channel to watch. My new subscription!
This is a super shop tour with an outstanding host. What a gem. The enthusiasm & the positivity from this guy is incredible, infectious in fact. He'll do very well whatever he puts his hands too. Mike, greetings from across that big pond from Ireland. Man i feel pumped after watching that. Signed off over & out. Thank you very much.
could do with more foke like him here in ireland, serious workshop so hard to find machines and tooling like that here
Hi Adam, what a cool guy, and he's wearing This Old Tony goggles, really cool. Kindest regards. Joe.
Adam, Michael sure has the right attitude and I appreciate your sharing this great tour. Another new subscription here as well.
He has a great work ethic. Always great to see.
You're totally right about college. Here I am, a mechanical engineer, working through a huge set of manufacturing drawings, watching your video out of the corner of my eye while I work, wishing I were actually making things myself at work!
Abo / Mike. Great deal on the Colchester lathe. Looks great condition. Best to urgently move the pedstal grinder far away from the lathe. The grit will destroy the precision beds. Im sure you will tell him Abom.
What a great shop👍 Got all the bases covered. Thanks for the video Adam. Nice work
Thanks for sharing. He seems like a great guy love his shop!!! Have a great day. God Bless!!!
The only thing better than an Ol'tennasee boy is a ol'kentucky boy.
Really two of the same. Great looking shop, great video.
I bought my first Lincoln 225 in 1963. Used it for 25 years when I replaced it with a Lincoln 300 - 300 TIG. Both worked perfectly, sat for decades in a damp un-heated shop. Trouble is, new welding technology beckons and my existing welder will not falter and give me an excuse to upgrade. Life is cruel.
Totally agreed with this guy about the college thing.
Pretty cool and nice guy with some good hustle! Got a story for everything in there. Was nice to go for the tour and hear a few of his stories!
Bradley Macaulay thanks! I love all my stuff and work hard for it ... even if hustled!
I had always wanted something like one of those massive Reed vises, what a "chunk of quality" tool from days gone by. That truck is a sweet piece of history, and that shop wow - room and equipment to build virtually anything within reason. Good to see young guys carrying the old skills torch so to speak, there will always be a need for people to keep the world turning. Hopefully the resurgence in machine and fab work keeps growing so we can get back to the "can do" mentality this country used to be proud of and known for.
Hey thanks but I cant really take much credit, theres lots of us old guys (58 here) that feel the same way and who grew up with it being a rite of passage to know how to fix and fab your own stuff - especially if broke like we were most of the time-lol Im no machinist just an ex mechanic / DIY guy who loves to create/build and/or repurpose things instead of just throwing away and buying new chinese crap all the time. I love all those old machines and vises from the WWII or earlier era, stuff was really built to last back then - end of soapbox rant-lol
Hello there man, greetings from Ireland. I could not agree more with your posts. What a spirited video with a wonderful host. Similar happenings in Ireland where young kids are happier with their heads buried in i phones or smart devices uninterested working their hands. Its a tragedy really. Well i'm kind of like Mike above with a suite of old metal and sheds full of character. Blessed with two kids that have already worked hammer & anvil and now tasting some woodturning at 5 & 6 years old. Get them young and plant that seed. Encourage & reward!. Good heath & God bless you fella.
Thank you much sir, and hello to Ireland from America - I fear one of our worst problems here in the U.S. is many in our own government dont want a population of self reliant critical thinking working class people who might challenge the govt, but rather a bunch of placated drones who are easily manipulated and will vote their way in exchange for keeping themselves in power and money. This is why the govt. often seems to favor special interest groups they can pander to and use to dilute the working class conservative American vote like minorities, LGBT, illegal aliens and anyone else who will vote their way for special favors, welfare and a free phone. This is one reason for all his faults I like much of what pres. Trump has done, hes upset the applecart big time among the career politicians and its the first time ive seen a US president actually doing something about bringing jobs back and killing some of these anti American trade agreements etc etc. -- but once again im off on a tangent. lol
Neat tour today bud. Many thanks !
Great video - Michael's clearly got it goin' on!
Great Shop. Great Guy, and even better, I saw a 1950's Studebaker at the start of the video. Great job Adam. Thanks.
Hell yea brother your an amazing guy and I’m only 16 and the impact you’ve had on me and making me want to go out to my shop and fabercoble stuff and make something to be exact and not just farmer hack it is amazing and I’m starting to make my shop up and get it up to a good size and it’s so much fun, I’m in grade 11 and when I finish school I don’t want to sit behind a desk for the rest of my life I want to be a heavy duty ag mechanic and I hope to accomplish my dream and I just want to thank you for being a great dude and showing people how to do something and do it right to!! Thanks man
Guys got a big-ass stero speaker sitting right on the gantry - this is a cool shop. Thanks for the tour Adam.
Very cool Abom! We still use these old press brakes everyday on our production floor. We have a lot of Cincinnati press brakes. Awesome again bro. Parts are becoming obsolete for these machines that's where I come in as a machinist! Thanks again for the vid Adam awesome job!!
I really enjoy these shop tours Adam. I hope you continue them.
What a awesome shop and guy. I really like these shop tours you’re doing. I’m about 5 hours away from Chattanooga and definitely will try to check him out next time I’m down that way. That was a nice pile of stuff on the table you got your vice from. I subbed as well and great to find a new channel.
Awesome shop tour! That dude has an amazing vibe about him. That shop has anything a guy would need. Very nice! I appreciate the shop tour Adam and thanks Mr. Brandt for allowing all of us to see your world a bit. I subbed to your channel and IG!
American Machine Thanks for the great compliment! I am pretty passionate about my slice of life and feel very privileged to be where I am and to have the friends I have! Happy to make friends with Adam and am grateful of him sharing my slice with all his followers! Thank you for the follows!
Loving the tours
What a nice guy! Very cool shop, thanks for sharing!
Very cool stuff man. That Chevy COE is a heck of a project too...love it.
This dude is cool. My kinda guy. Kudos!
Very cool stuff. That short wheelbase wrecker is awesome. They don't build them like that anymore.
Very cool segment Adam, I enjoyed that very much... thanks for sharing ;)
That truck looks just like the trator unit from the Cannonball tv series from 1958. Iused to always watch it. The truck was the star.
Very good viewing,thanks.
Just checked out his sight. I'm sure he'll get a lot of subbs out of this. Good on you!
great video adam and he looks like he knows what hes doing and great you got a free vice aswell,
Nice shop! Thanks for the video.
How in gods name does this man have only 279 subs!!?!? Great video and great guy and shop!
I thought the same thing! I did notice alot of his videos are shorter, maybe because he utilizes IG more perhaps. I hope he starts working his UA-cam a bit with longer videos. I think he would be great!
He hasn’t been very active on his UA-cam channel but he plans to. Mike uses Instagram mostly for daily updates.
Love the keepers creepers truck in the shop, looks like it only gets to eat fuel every 21 years 🤣🤣🤣👌👌👍😍
Mike has a nice shop and would be a great guy to work with.
nice friendly guy
Seeing the Colchester Lathe brought back memories, cut my teeth on those machines when I was in engineering in the 90’s.
Wow Adam, if I had known you were so close to me, you could have stopped at my house and had supper. I live 20 mile's south of Chatt Town right off I-59 little town called Trenton Georgia.
He's absolutely right about college. It's lunacy to spend six figures only to end up in a cubicle and in debt for 20 years. Start making things. You'll never regret it.
You know why I like this guy, it’s because we have the same taste in machinery.
You have the same model Colchester lathe as I do, yours would be about a 1968-70, the later model didn’t have the foot brake.
When they made them they had no inline oil filter, I fitted one that filters the oil down to 5 microns.
Adam, Mike Rowe would love this guy. Maybe you get him to make an episode!
Rich
HAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!! I am the guy who bought that Dividing Head!!! :)
Well done, Michael!
I was hoping that you still had the old shaper outside and that it was going to show up with a story of how you restored it!
Chris Palombo the shaper found a new home to a tough guy that was super excited to restore it!
Even better! It is good to see those old girls get restored and put to use. Peace, man! Glad to see you have gone big time!
Also, if you ever have more tools to sell, give me a ring via FB. I am still adding to my garage shop. :)
Really nice guy and host.
I've been following your channel for a while now and I find it fascinating that you always have a clean work place and indeed a clean workshop environment and I was wondering if perhaps you might dedicate an episode describing time and effort it takes to maintain a healthy workplace.
I am very much interested to see how you clean out the mountains of chips and stuff under or around and in between your work pieces. That would be cool.
I can't imagine you using air to blow stuff all over the place. ....just find it interesting that's all.
Wow what a shop wicked good stuff
Awesome video Abom!!
Cool shop
Wwwhhaattt! You were in Chattanooga!?! That's my hometown!
Great view of life!
That turret drill press is super cool wish I had one
How does the turret go around do u do any thing or wat I never used one also
Crossbow Hunter I would take a grand for it. How many miles from Chattanooga?
How much u want? I live in Ohio I do not have a way of Bring it back to my shop
Most of us guys would trade off our Brides for that COE Chevy inside the shop,,,Great tour,,thx Adam,,Bear
Cool place. Thanks for sharing
Great vid, wish i could be like this guy..
very good video and thanks for the tour
What a Neat Shop.
Great video Adam. Where can I get myself one of those Abom drinks thermos/travel cup? Been on the storefront and I don’t see them. I would like to get some toolbox stickers too if they are available?
Could be wrong but I think that's just a plain mug with one of his stickers on it
That is a awesome guy with a awesome story.
That was a great tour! Thanks
That guy's so chilled and laid back!
I knew it was a Reed vise before he said it and I never had seen one or thought about that there are
different brands/sizes/forms/use of vises before I subscribed here a few weeks ago 😎🛠🔩👍
Awesome shop tour Adam
Awesome vid/tour/shop/person....and great “seagull”...lol
cool shop, cool dude, thanks for the vid!
i wish i had come by your shop while i was out there riding the TransAmerica Trail. maybe next time! thanks.
that was a cool place. and he has a lot of machines
Old clutch type flywheel brake, Ive had to make new bearings for one of those cluthes.
I have that same old lunchbox Mitutoyo DRO on my Bridgeport..
If you haven't already...you should cut that top die in to sections...1",2", 6". Or what ever. Then you can fabricate box shape's on that brake. I grow up in the country and my dad had a shear and brake shop/ barn. Built wood stoves and trailers and a lot of stainless steel restaurant equipment like countertops and deep fryers and stuff like that. you need to get a good shear and a gooseneck die cut into sections and then re-fab that truck. Cool place.
Sorry, but, seeing him at first with those glasses on, my first thought was "Dr. Nefario!"
diggerop too funny! It’s all good ... I am sure I have been called something worse sometime in the past! Lol
@sosametalworks blue hammer at the end is pretty cool !! UA-cam sosa metal works if you don’t know who Cristian is ..
jfranco7923 just about ready to start using it on a paying job!!! Stay tuned!
Great shop tour, I want to play.
The swivel locking mechanism in Wilton vises is terrible. The bolts just hang down and try to tilt over when you rotate the vise, which effectively shortens them causing the swivel motion to stop. I have solved this in my Wilton vises by machining blocks to keep the bolts straight then tacking the blocks inside the swivel housing. It makes using the swivel tolerable.
8:47 BTW, Chattanooga is the birthplace of the wrecker.
AustrianAnarchy yes! And we have the tow truck museum! Have you been?
Those steady rests seems to be Skoda brand. We've got Skoda SRM 125 at work and it's steady rests are very much alike.
Thanks for the tour. Nice shop. Maybe Michael could wheel and deal with an HVAC contractor and get him some A/C in there, I have no idea what he would need, but y'all looked a bit warm in there. Where I live, a good security cage for the outdoor unit of an A/C may get you somewhere with them, perhaps a dozen or so; I don't know what works for where Garage Bound is.
Great video. Thanks.
Really great!
We've got a Clausing just like that one at work, but it's not hooked to power and is hiding under a pallet rack shelf. I'd love to have it, but would be too big for my garage and I really want a small Bridgeport first.
Nice!!
My uncle has a Reed Mfg. 408 vise, there's not much it can't hold, handle is about 3 feet long
Looks like quite a rare Packard outside ,1949 / 50 Custom Eight with the 9 Main Super Eight ?
that dude seems like an awesome genuine nice guy, thanks for sharing, going to look up his work now!
