Another incredible performance by Matt and Kevin is ‘Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy Reimagined’. Only two people have reacted to it that I’ve seen, and it’s absolutely spectacular.
Yes! Kevin’s 5th was so good. I saw it live, twice and I wondered if they would do it again at the Christmas show 2023, but instead, they did Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy Reimagined . Kevin and Matt took the Grammy Winning Pentatonix arrangement of the song and remixed and Kevinized it into outer space. It was EPIC. Definitely watch! The standing ovation went on and on!
I also love how they give Kevin his own part in the shows. It is amazing to see live. I saw them in August and the energy between Kevin and Matt is absolutely ridiculous!!! They were born to perform!
Kevin always gets a spotlight segment in their concerts, ever since they first started touring. It’s actually designed to give the rest of the group a break backstage mid-concert as well as highlight his talents.
I attended this tour in NC - not this specific show, but the same tour/set list, etc. This was amazing. Almost since the beginning Kevin had a part of the each show where he performed solo, but this took it to a new level. The crowd of 12,000+ went nuts at the end - whooping, cheering, standing ovation. PTX never disappoints - thier concerts are fantastic. They kicked it up another notch this year with Matt playing a full drum kit. ❤❤
He’s such a talented human. Sings, Cello Master, and does killer percussion. I think the reason the group has lasted so long is that they allow each other to grow in their own creative way. He did a retake on Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.
That first one was in Kentucky where Kevin grew up The 2nd video was from the Hollywood Bowl in California It is so fun to see the dancers and Matt and Kevin put on an amazing show Classical music and beatboxing Wow!
No, regrettably, UA-cam has discontinued UA-cam Messages. And no matter what Scott said, no, Kevin isn't a doctor. He gave up his place at Yale Medical School in order to join three teenagers and a bass on a televised musical competition show. In answer to your question, yes, Kevin is a composer; he's listed as co-composer on most of Pentatonix's original songs. But no, he didn't compose THIS piece, only the beatboxing part and cello arrangement. This is the theme from Beethoven's Symphony Number 5, colloquially named "Beethoven's Fifth."
I'm blessed to have witnessed both versions live. The second vid is the debut of that piece and let me tell you the standing ovation lasted for 10 minutes, and the magnetic, electrifying energy in that venue was indescribable . Something I'll never forget 🙏🏾❤️. Thanks for great reactions 👍🏾
Great reaction ❤ It's awesome that you also included the Hollywood Bowl version. That was the first time we ever saw him do it. And the dancing composer blew our minds 🔥🔥
I feel humbled and honored to get to say I got to see this LIVE!! Truly remarkable and brings tears to my eyes because they are all so very talented and it’s insane to witness in person. Kevin is a treasure and the most talented member of PTX. ::whispering:: Scott is my personal favorite but I couldn’t explain it if I tried because immediately after saying that I can’t help but defend the rest of them… from ME lol I could write a dissertation on how talented each one is, seriously. ❤
I love the emotional reaction you have to the different parts of this performance. Your eyes tell the story of how you are feeling, without the need to give 'filler' comments.
Sometimes I worry I'm being too quiet at times, but I've noticed yall like that realness of it so I've just leaned in. Thanks for letting me be me and enjoying it. :)
Pentatonix loves UA-cam reactions and reactors; they're well aware that reaction videos have helped to make them the success that they are today. Unfortunately, their copyrights are owned by their publisher, RCA, and RCA doesn't share their love of reaction videos. RCA is notorious for making copyright claims that get reaction videos taken down. The claims all seem to be about the video, not the music, and there are several strategies people use to keep their reactions up. Some people only react to live performances. This works, but it's limiting. In general, Pentatonix is as good live as they are in their official releases, but that's musically; there are a few of their official videos that have important video effects that can't be duplicated live. The most obvious one is "Imagine," but several others spring to mind. Also, if you only react to live performances you can't react to any "Behind the Scenes" or "Making of" videos. Another strategy is to pause the video frequently. This is probably a good idea (be sure to rewind a bit whenever you do this), but the definition of "frequent" is subjective so I don't recommend it as your only protection. What seems to work best is to slightly mask the video, combined with frequent pauses. Some people put a translucent "PENTATONIX" or "COPYRIGHT" over the video; others put what appears to be a window with raindrops on it over the video. Remember, the pentaholics are here to see your reaction, not the video - we've seen the video numerous times already. We only need to be able to see enough of it to be sure what exactly you're reacting to, in real time.
Yeah, I've learned there are all sorts of things I can do but people will always complain if you don't do react videos the way they want you too haha. If I pause too much, people will complain. If I don't pause at all but talk through certain parts, they complain. It's a mixed bag lol. I need to try slapping my name or brand across the music video and just decrease the opacity or something. Maybe that'll work. I'll figure something out! I appreciate the tips and tricks. :) I always love the reminder that people are trying to see the reactor, not the video, when watching reactions. And I need to remember that. I'll try to incorporate that attitude going forward! Pentaholics haha.. Love that word.
@@TheBlackSpeed That should work just fine. To the best of my knowledge, the standard is that people shouldn't be able to have the same experience watching your reaction video that they would watching the official video for themselves. (Note: I do have two very strong preferences. For me, it ruins the experience when a reactor talks over the singing - I have to choose which to listen to, and I can't hear either the reactor or the music properly. And I saw one reaction channel where they protected against copyright violation by deleting a few seconds of the video (and associated music) at random times - that was EXCEEDINGLY annoying; please don't do that, ever. I can handle pauses, especially if you try to time them well; I can't handle incomplete musical phrases.) Why is it just the video, not the audio? You didn't ask, which is good because I don't know the answer. Apparently there's some kind of vagary in copyright law because videos hadn't been invented when "fair use" was written into law, but that sounds backward to me, so I just don't know.
So, I tried testing out various things for this Twenty One Pilots video I'm doing (surprise) and NOTHING worked. The overlay on the video, changing the size, changing the opacity. I couldn't get a single thing to work. The BEST that happened is a minute of copyrighted material got shaved off but it was still 3 minutes of copyright. Yeah, I'm at a loss. -shrug- I just continue to dispute it and hope I get it approved, or it falls off after the 30 days. Shit is a joke. And one thing you said haha I won't ever pause it repeatedly nor delete. At the end of the day, I still need exposure to this channel so fi it means I can post it (but not make money off of it) I'm fine with that for NOW. At some point, though, that'll have to stop. But then that's where people's support comes in but that's a way's down the road (hopefully). There ARE some videos where they are hella aggressive about it where it's blocked GLOBALLY. Like I can't post it period. THAT stuff irritates me and I'll never understand.
There was a group in the 2000’s called ‘bond’. They are an Australian/British string quartet that specialises in classical crossover and synth-pop music, so they play electric violin, viola, cello and bass. It’s pretty amazing.
Some people blur the video, or place words over it - we can see the video in other ways, we just enjoy the reactions. Kevin is a musical genius. He's so intelligent, he composes, arranges, he's just amazing. I love the joy you radiated watching these!
It doesn't always work, I've tried. It's getting either more sophisticated, or music labels are getting more ass. I don't know which. I may have to try putting words over it though, I can give it a shot! And absolutely, I had a great time watching it!
BEST REACTION TO KEVIN'S 5TH Your enjoyment gave me goosebumps, especially you being a Black man and being so proud of brothers doing this kind of mindblowing stuff. Kevin is amazing.
Thank you so very much for reacting to this video. This video does not nearly have all of the views and reactions that it should. Have you reacted to his video down by Marian Hill
Love seeing you so happy for great music, that much joy is really infectious & that’s the best!!🔥🔥💥 thank you, my’ansum (Cornish endearment), love from Annie, in Cornwall,UK🙂🌸
Each one of these amazing people are so talented! What happened to me, LOL! They all do their own work and I just can't believe how talented they are, it's crazy. I love Kevin's "Down" performance. I also think you would like Scott Hoying performing "I Should Tell Ya Momma On You" it's insane. Here's the link if you are interested.
Matt's been learning drums - when we saw then for Christmas 2023, he had moved up to a full rock/jazz drum kit. The conductor/dancer is Lil Buck: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lil_Buck
Scott is being a bit inaccurate with his story in the beginning. Reality is that their collaborator Ben Bram, who was helping Scott put together the group (he was the one who knew Avi), was at a friend’s engagement party where someone showed him Kevin’s video, which was going viral at the time. The video info said that he was at Yale, and Ben knew some of the Whiffenpoofs (Yale’s legendary acapella group) from when they were on The Sing-Off in season two, so he contacted one of them to get Kevin’s phone number. At that point, Kevin had already decided to give music a try and had already given up on going to medical school the following fall. Soon after PTX had auditioned for TSO and were told they had made it on the show, Kevin was contacted by a Christian group who needed a cellist for a short tour they were planning for October and early November 2011. That slotted in perfectly between the end of the TSO taping and the live shows in late November/early December. In the talk he gave where he told that story, he said he thought the timing was providential.
God was probably tired when he gave out talents and emptied the bucket on Kevin. Kevin speaks 6 languages including Mandarin fluently, has played the saxophone and cello in Carnegie Hall as a teenager and since joining PTX, sings beautifully. He sings higher than Mitch n. Kirstin. He also writes and composes music .
Hahaha this comment made me laugh. I think you're spot-on. It's crazy he range even surpasses them. He is definitely, without a doubt or close second, the most talented member of this group.
Have you done the dance of the sugar plum fairy?? Soo good no lyrics The make all music with their mouths and feet on this one Like they ARE the music Crazy
I've tried everything lol. Depending on the artist, and depending on if UA-cam took its medicine that day, they still flag me lol. Trust me, I try a lot of things before I upload. We'll get there. I'll give that a shot on the next video.
I know how haha. I've tried that, several times, several different ways. It doesn't work, their detection still picks up on it depending on the song (what it depends on, no idea).
Hands down the best reaction to Kevin’s Fifth EVER. ⭐️ 🔥 ⭐️🔥
Woooo well that is high praise.

I saw them in August too - and you are so right - the chemistry between them is off the charts!
Kevin always gets a spotlight segment in their concerts, ever since they first started touring. It’s actually designed to give the rest of the group a break backstage mid-concert as well as highlight his talents.
I figured logistically that was the reason haha as well as just showcasing his amazing abilities. Makes sense!
I attended this tour in NC - not this specific show, but the same tour/set list, etc. This was amazing. That dancing conductor? That's Lil Buck.
That guy has some serious MOVES!
Is he normally a conductor? If so, I need to find more of him!
Lil Buck? I shall remember him now, he was dope.
Wow! I need to go back and watch more of them! Much love ❤️ Sue
That first one was in Kentucky where Kevin grew up The 2nd video was from the Hollywood
Bowl in California
It is so fun to see the dancers and Matt and Kevin put on an amazing show Classical music and beatboxing Wow!
Not nearly enough people have watched this, but so happy that people recommended it to you. Kevin deserves all the love!
I do as many recommendations as I can these days, if my time allows it haha. I'll have to do more soon!
That 2nd video looked like it was from the PTX performance at the Hollywood Bowl... ❤❤❤
We went crazy in the Bowl! My first PTX concert and it was amazing! KO’d

Kevin's parents are Nigerian.😊 He produced & directed Kevin's 5th. An original piece.😍
Yup I know. :) The man is beyond impressive!

Such fun to share Pentatonix with you!
I saw this live last August. No words necessary!❤

Great reaction by the way!
Thank you. :) I'm glad you enjoyed it and hope you'll sub and stick around for more!
When I saw them this past September Kevin and Matt did Kevin's 5th. Less the dancers, none the less is was incredible.
Loved it! Loved your reaction ❤
