Somewhere I heard Kirsty in an old interview say that she went with Scott to the airport to meet Kevin. She said they were worried he wouldn’t like them cuz he was from Yale and they were only 19. She said he was so funny and kind that they all hit it off right away. Kevin has said hearing the trio sing blew him away at their talent Truly a match made in heaven ❤
I was at one of the shows where he was ill, so he wasn't even on the stage, he was playing live, but from a second location, and he still got two wild standing ovations. Matt took the dancing part with Cost and Mayer. Also, you heard strings started the fifth before he started playing. At the concert, on the big screens, they showed recorded Kevin playing all the parts. He's incredible.
Kevin and Matt suit each other. Incredible energy between them. Have streamed other concerts where they take over while the other three take a break. All fantastic!
This was simply amazing. His talent and his energy are beyond compare. His parents were there. I can just imagine, both of them beaming with pride hearing all of those people chanting Kevin Kevin Kevin. They probably floated home.
This section of their Christmas concert is truly amazing. Kevin overflowing with talent 🤗. Looking back, PTX concerts have gone a long way. And some people may disagree but i think Matt's contribution in terms of what he can do as a performer is a significant part of that change. I salute also the thousands of PTX fans that stayed true and embraced that change. Thanks D. I think understanding classical music makes one appreciative of all other types of music. Oh, and yes, ive heard somewhere that Scott like paid half of Kevin's airfare to Texas, I believe, and said it was the best investment he'd done in his life.
I agree with you; I am a Matt fan. He has brought some wonderful energy and skill to the band. Different from the previous guy but much more upbeat. I like it.
THIS is entertainment! Skillful, thought through and innovative entertainment! From Scotts fun and engaging intro, Kevins absurd talent, Matt's energy and skills and the dancers. This is using everything you got, blurring lines, to get the best out there you can. Impressive!
The part of the story Scotty left out was that Kevin could not afford the airfare, so Scotty's mom and dad paid for half of it, so he could fly out. This group has been family from the jump and they all have such wonderful supportive families, so awesome!! Kevin's talent is mind blowing, just mind blowing! ❤
Their little segments, weather it's the sing alongs or the opening they did for over the river or this one, are just so good. Them two together is just something extra magical. They fuel each others creativity and energy in such a clear way!
@@hernameispekka_Rebecca they r coming to Australia in march should b a awesome night I wonder what Kevin and Matt come up with whatever it is with b excellent
The part Scott left out was that he actually paid for the plane ticket that brought Kevin out to LA for the Sing-Off. He calls it the best money he ever spent.
THIS WAS AWESOME. I have never seen this and OMG. He could have his own Vegas show. SO ENTERTAINING! Loved it. Thank you Kevin for being so talented. Thx for reaction or I would probably have missed it. ✌❤😎
Kevin and Avi were the two magic ingredients that turned this high school Trio into Pentatonix. That formula, using three vocalists, a bass singer and a vocal percussionist has been a major reason why Pentatonix is so successful, but it isn't the only reason. All seven of these individuals (Scott, Mitch, Kirstin, Kevin, Avi, Matt and let's not forget Ben Bram, the sixth and silent member who is their producer)... all of them have such passion for music and for performing. They also very clearly love each other as a family. Scott is a natural leader and an excellent Frontman. I'm sure they all had a hand in crafting shows to fully entertain the audience, but choosing to highlight Kevin and his unique talents was an absolute NO-BRAINER. They have all truly learned how to be World-class performers and we are lucky that we can go back via UA-cam videos and follow the progress they have made. Choir nerds becoming superstars and living their wildest dreams. So proud of them.
I did not know most of this. I feel like a horrible Pentaholic LOL. It's like Pentatonix was meant to be. Almost like a creation or gift from God. Especially finding out how they found each other. Oh, Kevin. You were their first blessing. God bless you all.
@ellen s you should look up some of Kevin interviews with podcast or people speaking about faith. The timeline in the sing off audition and show and another commitment he had lined up so well, he could not deny that this what God wanted him to do.
As awed as I am by Kevin and his talent and skill, I would still *LOVE* to see and hear a collaboration with him and 2Cellos someday. I imagine fire extinguishers would be a necessary safety measure...just in case. Sure to be an explosive 💥performance.
Hey D...this was a fantastic video...really like these "off-beat" ones that aren't part of their own videos. Guess what, I have another one of those to recommend that just came out...check out a cute video that tests their ancestry called "Pentatonix Family Holiday History / 2 Lies & A Leaf"
We saw them in Hartford in December! He is amazing!! The entire concert was absolutely fantastic! If you ever get a chance to see them live, you have to go! You will not be disappointed!!!
Kevin might be an advanced human from the future sent back to show us our potential. Or Kevin could be the DaVinci of our time. Kevin is such a true genius and a musical genius. He has so many talents in him I can't believe he hasn't self-combusted. Can play multiple instruments, sing, beatbox, write, compose, speaks multiple languages, perfect pitch, as if that wasn't enough, he was pre-med at Yale. He is also a humble and wonderful human. Maybe when he is done making music, he can cure cancer and broker world peace.
I feel so inadequate LMAO!!! Kevin you freak of nature!! Cello now my favorite instrument!!! Can't say what I'm thinkin but it starts with "Holy ____!!!!!!! Loved that!
Kevin mother has always told him to be extraordinary and uncommon. Be so good in whatever you do that people cannot live with out you basically. I think he has checked both boxes a million times over!!
My mom, sister, & niece where at the show in N.C. but Kevin had c19 and had to perform backstage I thought this was it until I got further in the video. My sister and them where in 9th row of the crowd of that tiktok they put out in Greensboro

Please react to Kevin's videos from his UA-cam channel. Everything on it is great. Please react to Kevin's Performance Videos for "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" and "Sign Of The Times".
This is an example of pure pentatonix song development. They sing a song that we know (and probably love) as it is, then add in PTX magic to take us with them to a new place.
Freakin' gifted, both internally and externally. First of all, born with perfect pitch. Second of all, born with perfect parents, both of whom were in the medical field. Dad was a psychiatrist. And I forget mom's occupation in the field. They made sure that they nurtured and developed his talents from both worlds - musically and medically. They obviously supported his choice of music over medicine. And it has paid off royally. Hence, their son has three Grammys under his belt, and a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Kevin is also fluent in Mandarin. He spent some of his college semesters in China. There’s a video somewhere on YT showing PTX on the Chinese version of the Sing Off. He amazed the audience and judges with how well he spoke.
You know who I blame for Kevin's celloboxing and this whole insane composition? The dude, Christopher O'Reilly (I had to look him up), who presented the show when Kevin was 17 & he was performing at Carnegie Hall in 2005, and after hearing that he was at Yale (and had been accepted at literally all the other top colleges too) and played Cello & Sax... declared him an overachiever and his "punishment" was to make him do something stupid. And since he had his side talent of beatboxing, that something stupid was to beatbox Beethoven's Fifth on the fly. And 17 years later we have this masterpiece! I think he likely planted that seed that grew to become this.
I need more musicians reacting to this video. I'd like to hear their break down and discussion of the complexity involved. Amen for his gifts and a giant AMEN for him walking in his gifts and not backing away to go down a "safer" career.
I saw the concert in Greensboro when Kevin was in isolation off stage. He showed no symptoms of being sick. We didn't see the dance bit but his performance was every bit as intense and impressive.
I was at that concert and because he was isolated and didn't look sick we assumed he tested positive for Covid. Either way, they integrated him perfectly into the show. Best night of my life!
@@janp3331 They did an excellent job and it was a wonderful concert. We didn't get an off-mic song because Kevin couldn't go off mic but it was fun hearing That's Christmas to Me.
For the next two concerts when Kirstin was isolated, and actually sick, they had to make a few other adjustments. They rigged the wheel but what else could they do?
Great performance and great reaction! If you haven’t done their original, Misbehavin, please do their live performance from the Honda stage on iheart radio. IMO it is one of their best. Thank! 💕💕

Check out Kevin as a young teenager playing Sax at Carnegie Hall in 2005!
He calls his electric cello - Mr. Carter.
Does he really! That's so fun. I know his regular one is Beyonce.
I was at the Nashville show and my jaw hung open the whole time!!!
Fun fact- Kevin's mother and Kirstie's mother are extremely good friends.

Absolutely agree about Matt. He brings a level of stage presence and showmanship that take their shows to another level.
