Actually I think there was one of the spooky episodes that got topical because there was a werewolf with hair on his face and the jokes kept coming, "Hey, you can't into Disneyland like that." And it is kind of dated but I totally get it and I love that gag a lot! I too had to encounter weird reactions to stuff and heard about them, but not at Disneyland, it was another theme park, so chuckles about hair and features is fun in The Monkees while pointing it out to a supernatural character very casually.
You could see the chemistry between Davy and Micky right away, on the audition tapes. And you could see how the other applicants didn't have it. You can't teach something like that---it's either there or it's not. With Davy & Micky (and Mike & Peter), it was there.
There's the old joke that the top 5 hit drummers at any given time in the '60s were all Hal Blaine. He and The Wrecking Crew played on sooo many hit singles it's ridiculous.
I was very young when their show came on, but...I was thinking they were already a group before the show came on. Good to hear everything from Mickey....very interesting! I was a little girl, but had a crush on Davey...good memories.
Love Micky but he's full of it when he says The Beach Boys didn't play on any of their records. They played on a lot of them, some with the Wrecking Crew augmenting them and some without the Wrecking Crew. Most of the biggest Beach Boys hits you know feature all of the boys playing on them.
@@dantefloressq true but then the next year they played everything on Wild Honey and Smiley Smile, stripped down records to be sure. The point is they could play and really only stopped because they were touring while Brian stayed home and recorded the backing tracks without them. And then on the elaborate productions like Good Vibrations and Pet Sounds. To be fair no 60s rock band could have played most of that stuff.
"Take the last train" everytime we reconnect with our unstoppable and always an "am is" actor/musician. Stay safe everyone!
It's October, 2021. Saw the surviving members - Micky and Mike in Ft Lauderdale. Their voices are still strong! Always a fan.

nothing new here, but, Micky comes off intelligently and a great interview, The interviewer even lets Micky talk without interrupting

Oh geez
Calm the F down
Its WELL known that the Wrecking Crew played the records. Of course not all, but a lot
Dolenz was speaking in generalities
From what i read it was Pet Sounds where the boys stopped playing in the records, except Carl Wilson still contributed guitar sometimes.
