what will the attorney general do? usually when you buy a used car you are accepting the car as is. You are liable for the state of the car as its bought. when she says she was told it was "inspected", inspected by who? Mechanics dont hold state licenses like say somebody like a plumber would for example. theres no official inspection. She just got played because shes not car knowledgeable unfortunately. Her car would have never qualified under the lemon law either because its been through multiple owners. She just needs to go to another dealership like an actual large, commercial brand dealership & explain that shes upside down and needs to get into a different car. Its gonna be hell for her credit & wallet, but theres literally nothing else she can do unless she somehow sells that car for 24k+ and can get out the loan, which is highly unlikely because the car only KBB for 13k. She just got taken advantage of. Its scummy as hell, but no illegal unfortunately.

State Atterny Generals handle consumer protections and often will go after businesses civilly. It's important that people report businesses that are exhibiting shady business practices so they track bad businesses and they have the authority to shut these businesses down.
Washington State A.G. sued Lue la Roe on behalf of Washington residents and settled to help compensate former consultants here, so its important to report it.

The Tooth fairy/Santa/ Bunny story is every parents right of passage.
I told my kids that Santa only gives to those that still believe. That so long as you believe there will always be gifts under the tree from Santa. This always Santa to move on to the younger baby's as the big kids grow up. This is how you teach giving from the heart without getting recognition.
It allows them to dream, hope and enjoy childhood just a little longer. They have forever to be a grown up and only such a little time to live in the Innocence of childhood.
Don't blink it will fly by before you know it.
I have my son the gift to give and to watch as the smaller children in our family lit up on Chrismas morning. This put a new type of smile on my son's face.

Omg yes Morgan!!!! 100% on blasting social media. Hear me out though- please for the love of God- NEVER TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ANY BUSINESS UNLESS YOU ARE HONEST. Don’t lie and let others suffer because of a misunderstanding. BUT I do believe you write in- and you need a little bit of help honestly. But when I did find out, it made me so thankful for everything my parents did to create that magic for us on the holidays.

Not to advocate for A to lie, but setting boundaries with her mom and lying to them about her life to prevent abuse is ok. you may have reach out to her at a distance until she makes it out. I did and we’re building our relationship back. ❤

    Story 1:
Bank will not get involved in any action against the dealership. If you took the loan out at a credit union, you take a chance at being able to make payment arrangements and not lose the vehicle. If it’s a bank, well then… your vehicle will be repossessed.
If you truly believe you won’t be able to pay on the loan, I would look into a voluntary repossession. Whatever the bank sells the vehicle for, it will go towards the balance of the loan and you will have to pay the rest. Since your vehicles is in shambles, this might literally be selling for parts but it’s better than nothing.
    - your friendly banker

    Story #4
I promise you a “broken” home is a lot better than teaching your children to stay in relationships with people who disrespect them & treat them like dirt so other people can feel comfortable.
I understand the money aspect. But you are showing your children that you don’t deserve love & respect & in turn teaching them that it’s okay to put up with the same thing in the future.
You deserve better & so do your kids.
Even when parents can get along, in my opinion, co parenting & choosing yourself is a lot healthier for everyone. Rather that staying with someone you don’t want to be with.
I hope you can find a way to be able to afford to move out & focus on yourself & your happiness along side your kids one day soon.

Stoey 5: My uber religious mom never allowed me to believe in Santa clause, etc. I got in trouble at school if I didn't play along for other kids who did believe and in some classes my teachers even made me sit aside during holiday themed craft days because they assumed since my mom didn't let me believe in Santa/etc she would be against me participating. It was sad and miserable. I remember wishing more than anything that I could have believed like the other kids and just enjoyed the magic. Your brilliant child might be angry or annoyed in the moment but imo letting them enjoy the magic was a beautiful gift you gave them (especially as they're very analytical and intelligent and sometimes being so brainy can suck the suspension of belief out of a lot of stuff). She will understand eventually and you can implement kind and radical honesty in your explanation to her.

Story 3: i related to this story. i had a best friend that i grew up with. our moms were friends in school and we considered ourselves sisters the whole time growing up. in highschool we both started talking less but it was on both ends. we had seperate things going on in our lives, but we still stayed in touch and would catch up every few months. she had gotten with a guy that is very mentally abusive to her and she fell pregnant with him. tried to leave but he was fighting for custody. (we’re a 50/50 state) she could have gotten partial custody but she didn’t feel like that was an option. she didn’t want to leave the baby with him so she stayed. now she works 5 mins from my house and when i see her we don’t even talk. keeps things simple and professional. it’s so sad because she is a shell of who i knew before. she’s blocked and unadded me along with everyone else in her family other than her mom. her sister and i still talk. however neither of us have met her now 1yr old son. and we’ve talked ab this situation at length. we’ve just had to accept that that is the life she chose and maybe. one day she’ll be able to get out of it. one day things will work themselves out. but we have all exhausted all our efforts into helping her and being a support system through it. however she lets him control her life, but if she ever leaves. i’d welcome her back in a heartbeat . it’s such a hard situation and it’s never settled into being okay. but as life goes on it’s not as big of a toll on me as before.

As far as the licking the socks thing, I imagine this was a fan at one of your shows, and I can say from experience, sometimes you do something silly to make your “audience” laugh. I did that with my dad when he got a Dick Blick catalog, and the page with the colored pencils looked so yummy, and I wanted to make my dad laugh, so I literally licked the page in the catalog with the colored pencils. It worked and I’m notorious in my family for licking the catalog. For those wondering, the page didn’t taste at all like the colors on it. It was not a Willy Wonka wallpaper type catalog, it tasted like paper. Now that he’s gone, it makes me smile to remember the look on his face when I licked that page.

For the daughter who still believes in Santa, I honestly believe full honesty would be the best policy. I'm a parent who never chose to tell these stories, and holidays are still magical. This little girl is smart and her parent knows she will be upset and feel lied to. They need to have a response ready for that. I would just say, "I never set out to lie to you, and didn't even consider these to be lies until recently. Sometimes people get too hung up on traditions to question them in a timely manner, and adults aren't perfect. Sometimes we just go along with stuff because it's what we've always done." For most people, these characters and stories are fun, but I have met people who felt betrayed and hesitant to believe their parents moving forward. Everyone's different.

Story 5: I believe in transparency with my kids too (10,8,6). All still believe in Santa. I choose my wording very carefully. They ask if I believe in Santa, I say I believe in the *magic* of Santa. And one day when they really want to know, I will explain that the magic of Santa (and all mascots) is love which is very real.
My daughter really wanted to know if they were real, so I explained the holiday magic like the leprechaun and tooth fairy was just the love of parents who love her a whole lot. I left Santa out of it because he was the one guy she wasn’t doubting. This year, she decided that that was me trying to throw her off and she adamantly believes again. 😂

On, Santa.. my 5 year old is well aware that Santa and the tooth fairy aren’t real. He still very much enjoys leaving cookies and getting gifts. We presented it as “playing pretend” and it’s fun to pretend. He knows that some kids believe in Santa and that’s fine, he doesn’t ruin it for anyone. He still enjoys holidays and is very excited to lose his first tooth and for the “tooth fairy” to come. I felt like this was better than having to break it to him when he’s older. I remember feeling like I had been deceived and I never wanted to lie to my kids so the very first time he asked me is Santa real I told him the truth!

First story- not sure if it’s a big dealer but I think a lot of big dealers have agreements in the contracts you sign saying issues must be handled with mitigation. Not sure if that’s better or worse when you can’t get a lawyer to represent you but definitely research into the contracts and then on from what the contracts say.

Story 1 probably needs a personal injury lawyer, they work on contingency. If they can’t help you, they’ll tell you who can. There’s also in some states a legal aid society that works pro bono.

Santa: my parents explained at first the mom's writing was better than Santa's. And then it was explained that it's the magic of giving with no expectations of anything. It's the magic of love and giving. And so that's how I'm raising mine now

As a parent and as an adult who has been involved in a lot of charitable activities I believe in the spirit of many different holidays. It’s kind of offensive and a little hurtful to call me manipulative for doing so. Let people have joy and fun! Let them believe in magic!

As someone that works at a car dealership, I hate that OP from story #1 is going through this. BUT overpaying for a decade old Jeep with well over 100K miles is not going to win any lawsuit. I can almost guarantee you that OP signed an “as is” document and that will relinquish a dealership from and liability of that vehicle once it drives off their lot. HOWEVER the warranty fraud situation might give some leverage.

Story 5 reminds me of when i was a kid so much, i once asked santa for a picture of rudolf and didn't tell my parents until Christmas eve (bc I basically already knew at that point i just wanted to see what they would do) and my dad somehow got permission to go to a farm that had like big deer and stuff to take a picture and then printed it and somehow made the nose red and i had it in a frame next to the tree by morning 😂 mind you this was like 2004 or so so i have no idea how he pulled it off

    Regarding the friend story:
I was best friends with a boy from 6th grade all the way through high school. We did everything together despite going to different schools. We spoke on the phone every day and spent nearly every weekend together. Movies, theme parks, camping trips, each other’s proms. We began dating right around graduation. He went to a school about 2 hours away and would come home nearly every weekend. I never went to visit him on campus, my mom wouldn’t allow it. He started complaining that I wasn’t putting as much effort into the relationship. I was torn between pleasing my boyfriend/best friend and my mom. She refused to allow me to travel to him because she was convinced he would corrupt me (aka: take my virginity which of course was the most sacred and important part of me 🙄). She finally convinced me that it was my idea to break up with him. It took 20 years for me to finally realize that he was in the right to ask for more effort and that I was manipulated into thinking he was a terrible bf.
All of that to say, moms have A LOT of pull and influence. I seriously doubt OP did anything to push A away.

Story 5: My oldest is very smart. She figured out that we as parents were Santa when she was very young. She could tell that Santa's handwriting was a lot like mummy's handwriting even though I tried to disguise it. The next year we got her grandad to write Santa's stuff. She then said Santa's handwriting looked like grandad's handwriting and even brought one of her old birthday cards as proof. 🙈 I was proud and disappointed. She said that she would still play along not to ruin it for her younger sibling who still believed in Santa.
I am planning on having a talk with my youngest and telling them that Santa was a real person. Adults keep the memory of his good will toward children alive every year by giving them a gift. It is to help spread love, joy, and kindness. My oldest loved that explanation. I will still continue getting them a Santa gift with the accompanied Santa bag with fruit, protein/vreakfast bar, and a piece of chocolate. They both love it as they can have breakfast in bed and then lazy about now until we are ready to open presents, now they are double digits.

The honest answer about "lying" about Santa, tooth fairy, etc, is because believing in those things is part of the magic of childhood. Even though it's dishonest, it's a time of life they get pure joy and light and a collective cultural experience. They should be able to understand that reasoning as a child and even more when they become an adult. It's innocuous, not a vicious lie. And realistically as an adult, everyone tells white lies. That's life. It doesn't make one a terrible person for telling little fibs for a greater good.
Also maybe some people feel differently, but I don't know I lot of people that felt a lasting distrust or resentment towards their parents after finding out the truth lol we may joke about it, but it's by far not the worst thing a parent can do

Please be careful encouraging an audience to leave false reviews. I’m not sure if it could hurt your case or count as harassment. If people do leave reviews I’d suggest, don’t lie. Say your friend had this experience, don’t make up situations! Just in case it back fires!
But definitely take it to social media. I would do it under the guise of needing help & advice, not bringing down the company. Which you do need.
“Has anyone had experience with “name” dealership? I need help… “ and so on.
    Good luck!

For the person who wrote the story about her friend “A” i’m just gonna flat out say it. You’re super fortunate that you had parents that you could be honest with and if she was so scared to tell her mom there was probably a good reason for it a.k.a. take it for me and my own personal experience, your friend has been abusedand you’re lucky enough to know that she clearly just doesn’t wanna be around you anymore and that’s her choice. It’s no one’s fault but to hear you talk about your friend like she should’ve stood up to her. Mom is just disgusting. You clearly have no idea what it’s like to be afraid of your own parent.

I have some insight on Santa. I have two boys (ages 10 and 7), and this past Christmas we were traveling and I had to be extra creative to keep the magic going. My youngest is identified as gifted, therefore he is way beyond his years. His older brother believed wholeheartedly. Well, this past Christmas they asked for the truth and we told them. There was a lot of crying from out of us, they were disappointed at first asking why we lied. Hours later, they come to us and say, mom and dad, we forgive you and understand all you did was to make us happy! They were super understanding…
This Easter my youngest asked: mom, can we still have an egg hunt? From you instead of the bunny?
So… bottom line is, they will for sure understand why you “lied”. And if they are ready to know the truth, just be open and it will all be ok!

Last Story: Use it as a teaching tool for critical thinking. Let your child discuss their belief and doubts about Santa etc. Let them discover how to detect fabricated stories and how to dig for evidence. Building these skills early will lead to them being less likely to fall for scams, lies, and fraud later in life. It will also help you remain more of a hero in their eyes rather than the villain.
