Nice ranking of your favorite 5 Petra albums Steve. Mine would be a little different but More Power To Ya is my #1 as well. They were in their prime starting with that album and Never Say Die with Greg X. Volz all the way through to Wake Up Call with John Schlitt. I really do love the s/t album as well as Come and Join Us of the 70’s as that’s when I discovered them as a kid. I’ve also come to appreciate their Washes Whiter Than… for its softer poppier side as well. I didn’t much care for it when I was younger. My tastes have changed quite a bit in my older years haha. All that to say, Petra was one of the first Christian Rock bands I discovered and still love to this day.
Interesting video and merch! I'm surprised you included the debut and Back to the Street. Ranking the Petra albums is hard with the few eras they went through. For me the easiest way to do a top 5 or 10 of the 16 original material albums is to rank the 70s to the end of the Greg Volz era 1985. Then do the remaining to 2003. From 1974 to 1985, my top 5 would be More Power to Ya, Not of This World, Come and Join Us, Never Say Die and Beat the System. After 1985 it would be On Fire, Unseen Power, Beyond Belief, Wake-Up Call and This Means War. Unseen Power and Beyond Belief is real close so it would depend on my mood. The funny thing is the word "shall" is mentioned in a Hard Rock song, I Am On The Rock. Just sounds odd to me. Also, the chorus to that same song is very close to Pour Some Sugar by Def Leppard. Every time I hear that Petra song it reminds me of the Def Leppard song, probably where back in 1988 to current the stupid song is heard everywhere on radio and video! If you ever decide to digitize that 1979 concert and if you get permission I wouldn't mind having the files for those songs unless Boones, Girder or Roxx would like to put them on an official CD. Did you all the Girder reissues of the Petra CDs and LPs from 1974-1993? I know you showed a lot of them on previous videos. I sold off my older versions and opted for the Girder reissues. Petra is one of my top 5 all time favorite bands along with Stryper, Saint, Impellitteri, and Rez. Here is a bit of Petra trivia: As Greg was exiting in 1985/86 and when John joined in early 1986 there was talks of releasing a live album with John on vocals but that never happened. I think the reason was if they released 2 live albums or an album with 2 singers it would be confusing for the fans.
Cool story on getting the autographs. Not sure that album would be in my top list though. 😁 Do you have the Beyond Belief movie they did? Beat the System was the first Christian cd I ever bought. Seems it was one of the first couple released by then. 🎉

Man what a story on the Self Titled! We barely pulled it off!
