Honestly when it comes to chandeliers, I wish they would make them dragable height like columns. Just lower them to where you want. It'd be so much nicer and easier getting nice appearances.
James being able to build complex builds before the new features ever existed, and then there is me, who can't even build mildly interesting builds WITH all the new tools😂
You can practice making the builds look interesting without the new features first because it's often the fundamentals that do the trick. Or casually dab a few features in as you go, play around with it, figure out how stuff works. I recommend looking up some of his videos on this channel, and on other simmer's channels, for tips on building and terrain editing. The main thing is learning ways to roof with multiple pieces to get a cohesive look plus playing around with different shapes for buildings and rooms. Also learning what kind of layouts work well for your goals. You can also study house plans and practice using photos of houses/buildings as inspiration, they do that too, but don't get too discouraged. James has been building Sim houses for longer than the Sims 4 has existed. Most simmers who have a lot of build videos were building regularly for years even if Sims 4 was their first version of the Sims so they've had a ton of practice. It's literally just gaining experience over time! You could absolutely build something you'll be proud of one day if you build as often as you're comfortable with. None of these simmers started out where they are right now; they all began more or less where you did.😊
DEFINITELY agree with what j.stanley said and would also like to tack on the youtuber Sahm and Bean! She has a whole bunch of videos breaking down different building styles as well as basics for building and landscaping that I've found really really useful!!

I'm so glad to see that you went back to this house to update it! I've got a lot of builds in my legacy save that have these old building techniques but I am far too intimidated to go back and fix them 😅
I get the challenge of only using the two packs, but i feel like part of the point of doing it years later is that now you have access to resources (other packs) that can really test your creativity. Atleast thats how i see it. It would have been so cool to see what he could do with all the packs on.
These BG + one pack builds are bread and butter for people who don't have a lot of packs, especially given that the Gallery doesn't allow you to filter out packs. Just fixing the old builds without adding new packs means that they're still functional, and you can add items from packs you do own if you want to, rather than vice versa where every house with a fake built-in shower showing up as needing a $40 expansion when an alternative without the University shower exists and works.
Damn..., I remember in the old days how many tricks I have to learn just to build an optimal and beautiful house.. And seeing this, I feel nostalgic about my houses in my previous laptop (Sadly got corrupted)... I love the old foundation trick btw xD..

I love these kinds of videos !! Please do more, I used your first build for oasis springs in sims 4 when I got the game !! A lot of memories for my sims. I would also love to see you use all the packs and see what you come up with for this build too
Yes! I like that he decided to redo this first with Base game and Get Together but I'd also love to see a second version of this build with all of the packs, especially the greenhouse kit. And I know Deli did a revision of his very first TheSimSupply build a while ago but I also want to see James redo it with everything that we have now (or even just base game if that's his inclination but we have so many packs that would be perfect for those desert vibes.)
Tip: If you enable the Better BuildBuy Deletion Protection, none of the things would get deleted when you tried to do the greenhouse walls. (Another tip: When you have BBB you should always turn on/off Moveobjects through the BBB filters)

It turned out great! I don’t think the pond will function, the sign needs to be placed in deep enough water for it to work and you need to stock the pond or get the prestock sign from debug

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure if you just put the greenhouse on a platform just one step higher, you can change the wall height without affecting the rest of the build
It would have to be a level higher, and then you can drag it down to ground level. But it means to go inside or see the greenhouse you’d have to be viewing the second floor of the house
I can't believe James would destroy the sims supply's vision like that.
