We are still waiting for essential elements present in all the other sims games that are missing: - Being able to cuddle your partner in bed and not just sleep - Being able to read a book lying on your bed! - Very poor romantic interactions in this opus - Thieves
OMG SAME! 😂 Glad I wasn’t the only one! Like no shade to people who only have Base Game, but there are sooooo many good Mid Century items in other packs it would have felt so incomplete!
I love how this build is actually mid century with the obnoxious colors and decorations. When I do midcentury it's definitely a more contemporary take on it. I also appreciate the wall lights in every room because my family's house is midcentury and all of our bedroom's have a single super dim wall light
I have to say, watching that granny flat being decorated I was suddenly very excited that people are going to start making guest rooms in their builds for overnight stays in Growing Together. Stick Kyle into the poolhouse!
I love this house- I think I would be able to live there for at least three weeks before I started hating the mid century stuff, which is pretty impressive
the super *dark* closed off kitchen is so true. I live in my grandparents' house they bought in the early 1960s, and we still have the original really dark red oak upper and lower cabinets. they're so ugly but i kinda love them lol
We are still waiting for essential elements present in all the other sims games that are missing: - Being able to cuddle your partner in bed and not just sleep - Being able to read a book lying on your bed! - Very poor romantic interactions in this opus - Thieves
We need all of that and I miss the kissing on the bed animation before woohoo and they added where you can sit on the ground but u can’t do anything while sitting on the ground . I miss cops and burglars and the food animation needs to be redone .And I wish we had carpool instead of teleporting straight to work .
I love how the shell's shape is interesting but not crazy, if you know what I mean. I'm not a member but I'll definitely use it as a base for a community outdoor pool, with the part in the back as a supply storage
I feel like this was such a classic James build. Absolute chaos, slightly maniacal laughing, and then somewhere near the middle it just magically comes together. It blows my mind every time hahaha.
I love the Desert Lux sliding door, but as I painfully learned in my own gameplay, the game treats it as an archway and random townies will constantly enter your home through it unless you have a locked fence 😩😩 Can't have nice things...
I would probably only use that in a fenced in backyard purely because I don’t trust townies. It doesn’t surprise me that they constantly enter your home given that they constantly enter your conversations uninvited. (Not that I’m ok with it, I’m just not surprised). I wonder if it still happens if you use the “set as front door” option on a different door. 🤔
I LOVE mid century design (not for my own home - but in concept and to look at builds and decor in that style) so this build is just HITTING right. I LOVE that kitchen and living room? The wood paneling and the stone??? So good!
That was like stepping into my step-grandad's house. I have only one note, and that is avocado bathroom sets. Or that unsettling beige colour that makes the bathroom look constantly dirty, but I don't know if the sims had an unsettling beige bathroom, whereas it definitely has a full avocado set.
I love this build so so much. Hope it ends up on the gallery eventually! And a members only shell challenge is very intriguing! Can't wait to find our more!!!!
I really loved this video James! Your speed builds are great, but I actually like the shell build video better. It's nice to hear your thought process in real time because it helps uninspired builders like me learn. I also really love how you occasionally have this sly little laugh that kinda says "haha, gotch' ya little bugger" whenever you figure out a clever way to use an item or area. Hope to see more of these :)
Those jungle adventure windows are absolutely perfect for a mid century home. I always find myself using them to create breezeways for my mid century builds.
It reminds me of a 70s home that I see on the renovation HGTV channel lol like after 20 years it’ll be rundown with water damage since the floor was dipped in and they opened up all the walls and leveled everything out lol
The house that I grew up in was built in the late 1940’s. The whole back wall of the living room was made up of window panes, very similar to what you did in this living room (ours were more rectangular though). Spot on! My brother rode his ride-on tractor through them once, coming down the little hill in our small backyard. He broke the windows, but didn’t get a scratch on himself!
you sir are a genius. I lern so much from watching you. I get so many ideas for how to improve my own builds. you do things I would never have thought of. Amazing!
You did a fantastic job on this. Really faithful to the period in terms of style and layout. It can be hard to restrain yourself with midcentury and you did!
This reminds me so much of my grandparents home. I think they moved into it in the 60s and it did not change at all over the decades 😆 This was a fun build, I like when you focus on a specific theme/era!
My dad lived in one of these type for 30 years and rarely changed anything. The basement was the only updated space. Very contemporary. Upstairs had wood paneling and green carpets in every room. Kitchen was very dark with a dimmer switch for the light, linoleum floors, built in wall oven, and sliding screen doors that led to a patio from the kitchen. The bathroom was bright blue. Even the toilet and shower/tub was blue.
love midecentury style, and there are so many packs that work with it! love the risks that you took with this build. just wondering -- does the murphy bed in the granny flat have a couch or no? it seemed like in the buy mode catalog there was a couch but also a couchless murphy bed option.
I do understand why many folks want u to stick to base game, but using cc just makes the builds and videos more dynamic. We get to see your creativity come out more, because you have more options. I personally find it more inspiring. I don't have all of the content, but it puts ideas in my head and I find it fun to "shop" around for similar items. Love your builds!
i love this build so much. so many creators don't know what mid century really is but you always do. it should look dingy, brown, and cheap. it SHOULD smell like cigarettes lol.
I can't be alone in not being able to end a James' video without getting my 'Have an awesome day!' from him, am I? 😂 You're indeed spoiling us with vids lately James, & I love it!! 👏
I love this build! it was so fun watching you obviously enjoy building this lot. one suggestion: maybe put some curtains on the sliding glass doors in main bedroom for privacy. you could use some of the ones that are open but look like they might close. thanks for another fantastic video James! ❤
Oh my god, that shelf bit just gave me flashbacks to my grandparents’ house. They had the exact same piece between the kitchen and living room. I remember some jars falling right into my grandmother’s chair. Quite a dangerous place to have a chair, actually.
1:37 into video James : I already give up on base game, I'm out! Me: Laughin my ass off thinkin, yep this is gonna be a fun video! I wasn't disappointed! ❤️ Great house, I'd live there
Loving the color scheme inside!! Never really like mid century but it's well done here. Already have some ideas for my shell challenge entry hehe let's goooo
I LOVE this. I had some health challenges recently and have binging your videos to help get through it. I have a neighborhood in my game where all I have is unique architectural builds and this is TOTALLY going in. ❤️ Can't wait to play with it!
Super cool build! After you got going with the mid-century vibe I forgot it was a shell challenge! Just looks like a fun themed build. A true build master!
When I think mid century homes my brain automatically thinks of Thunderbirds and how beautiful the original Tracy Island house was. A two story mid centurey open plan home, pool room, shooting range, bar room, reading room, atomic kitchen and lush pool with a outside round house guest stay.... and all the 'other' underground features like personal airport and secret rescue stuff. 🤣 I'd love to see someone recreate that in the sims!
The only pack I didn't have for this house was Get Famous, and it seems like a lot of items were used from that pack. So even though I've never really wanted that pack, I just bought it so I can download this house. DANG IT JAMES
James you should use this house for your growing together rags to riches! It’s like a 60-70s sitcom house! They could renovate and update it as they make money and there’s room for a couple generations! You could make it a little more run down for the let’s play
My grandmas house built in the mid century style has about a foot or more overhang on all sides so the bigger overhang on the side was totally accurate. Same with my grandfathers
I would be interested in seeing James create a mid-century family to live in this home when growing together comes out, even though we all know he hates CAS lol
the relief when he said he wasn't just gonna use basegame 😅

me having only 1 pack

Yes!!!!
Mid-century vs. mid-century modern
Have you seen Deli's midcentury? It's what made me fall in love with her builds!
@@lin80085 yes! I love her build style so much. She’s kinda the reason that I use a more contemporary approach when I build midcentury
His chuckle of mischief gets me every time lol 😂
Yes! Me too. It totally makes my day 🤣
I was curious if there was a supercut of all his mischievous giggles.
I have to say, watching that granny flat being decorated I was suddenly very excited that people are going to start making guest rooms in their builds for overnight stays in Growing Together. Stick Kyle into the poolhouse!
Just don’t give Kyle a grill. He is apparently prone to starting fires. 😂
I love this house- I think I would be able to live there for at least three weeks before I started hating the mid century stuff, which is pretty impressive

There's a coziness to that kind of room tbh, my grandparents's house was the same way.
@@sleepythemis its a very cosy grandparent kinda room, like a hug
does anyone find it nice when deli and james upload at the same time? my mornings are blessed
I also love how the time zones are different so they post right when I wake up and I have something to watch with my breakfast

I really like the little chuckles to himself, especially the ones around the living room wall sconces.
Honestly, this got to be one of your best builds. Totally vibing.
I was gonna say the same thing! This is one of my favorite builds, I'm going to have to pop this into my world so I can visit it!
How did you download it?
@@littlesciencemdgallery
this video made me so happy. you can feel how James actually enjoys just vibing and decorating, and its contagious 😍
I love how the shell's shape is interesting but not crazy, if you know what I mean. I'm not a member but I'll definitely use it as a base for a community outdoor pool, with the part in the back as a supply storage
Thank you for releasing a video almost every day! That's commitment, and we like it 👏
You are contributing to my wellness 😆
I can't describe the effect that James' videos have.. Like always sunny, save place I can come whenever I need 🤲🏻
I’m feeling so spoiled by James lately! 🙌🏼 looking forward to becoming a member soon when I have more money 💚

hearing the little giggles and excitement after choosing the worst swatch yet perfect mid century swatch is killing me
This build was so "uncanny valley" for me. It looked strangely similar to the house I grew up in. 10/10
70s decor is my favorite I love this build. All the greens, oranges and wood EVERYWHERE 😭 you nailed it
I really love this build, leaning hard into the mid century aesthetic was super fun!
You did a fantastic job on this. Really faithful to the period in terms of style and layout. It can be hard to restrain yourself with midcentury and you did!
I love how excited James gets when he builds lol, it truly brings me so much joy

Those Get Together columns carry this whole game on their back😂😂
that kitchen gives me sims 3 vibes i cant explain it
This floor plan and interior design reminds me SO MUCH of my friend's childhood home haha. 90s mid-century modern haha
love midecentury style, and there are so many packs that work with it! love the risks that you took with this build. just wondering -- does the murphy bed in the granny flat have a couch or no? it seemed like in the buy mode catalog there was a couch but also a couchless murphy bed option.
Yeah, I noticed the one he placed doesn't have a couch. I suspect he was thinking the couch folds out (and bed?) Brain hiccup!
I kind of love this. It reminds me of my grandma's house which definitely had those mid-century vibes.
This is for some reason one of my fave builds youve done recently. I love it!!

I REALLY hope this is on the gallery,I love this house
I love that you van do funky roofs, because in real life it wouldn't work because of rain puddling and leaking. So cool to see it in the sims!
It's crazy how much about architecture I'm learning because of you!
Actually one of my favorite builds I've seen in a while
As a German, I learned so much about mid century architecture from this video. Thx! (houses don't look like that over here *at all*)
Love it! Nice to see different style builds. Great mid century vibes.
That kitchen and living area is actually gorgeous. What a great build!
Loving the frequent uploads!! Thanks James ❤

I love how James laughs at his choices as he builds. It makes me smile! Thanks James!😊
Will this be uploaded to the gallery? It's inspired me to convert an entire neighborhood into a mid-century one.
I don't know why but I love making mid-century homes in Sims 4. The retro-modern look is just so fun to play around with.
I love this build! it was so fun watching you obviously enjoy building this lot. one suggestion: maybe put some curtains on the sliding glass doors in main bedroom for privacy. you could use some of the ones that are open but look like they might close. thanks for another fantastic video James! ❤
I don’t think I have seen anything more mid century then this! This is amazing!
Oh my god, that shelf bit just gave me flashbacks to my grandparents’ house. They had the exact same piece between the kitchen and living room. I remember some jars falling right into my grandmother’s chair. Quite a dangerous place to have a chair, actually.

Really enjoyed this build! The interior looks lovely, works very well 😄❤
This looks exactly like one of those old houses on HGTV that they're renovating. Good job!
This came out great and I can tell you enjoyed decorating it
Love the background! You have some really cool stuff on the shelves 😊

I can definitely see a TV show being shot in a house like this. Like Wanda Vision sitcom kind of thing.
Absolutely love this house. And love the idea of member shell builds, although I expect I'd struggle to match your creativity.
This house is amazing! Watching Sean Connery's Bond films as a child has left a permanent mark on my taste in interior design.
My grandmas house built in the mid century style has about a foot or more overhang on all sides so the bigger overhang on the side was totally accurate. Same with my grandfathers
Would have really liked a walk-through for this fantastic build
i wish this was on the gallery i absolutely love this build!
Love this house James! Great job!!🤩🥰🤩🥰
it’s giving sims 3 sunset valley and I’m absolutely here for it
James I literally just completed my own shell challenge and it’s also mid century and soo similar! I love it ☺️

I LOVE houses like this for some reason 😫
I LOVE this house. Can’t wait to download it when I actually own all of the packs in it lol
Between James & Deli we're getting almost daily content lately and it feels like a gift
This house gives me 70s vibes and I'm here for it 😊

whoa i lived in a mid century house like this in arizona as a child, this is crazy! the layout is so similar
Thanks James , now i miss my childhood, this is spot on.👏
