Favorite Gamera films will always be the Heisei of course though, absolute masterpieces. And although Gamera 3 is definitely the most badass design, Gamera 2 will always be slightly more my favorite. He has a sharper design closer to 3, but still has the more lighthearted look that fits his character and how he acts in 2. Basically the Gamera 1 design but without that overly large head and just added things that make the design look so much better. Plus he had that Wicked Mana Beam at the end. I was so happy when the first Gamera SHMA announced was Gamera 2, honestly couldn't have chosen a better one imo. Gamera 3 will always be the most badass with his headsculpt and shell looking so cool, but I always thought it was so weird that they suddenly made him chunkier and made his legs less defined and more tree stumpy but you rarely notice it in the film because of how well it's shot
Good point, most of the scenes were at night so getting a good look at Gamera's legs were damn near impossible. His change from Gamera 2 to Gamera 3 was super drastic though, and kind of jarring. I agree with you that his 96 look was like a perfect blend, but 99 fit the darker aesthetic and tone of the movie.
I remember watching the Hesiei Gamera movies way back in the early days of UA-cam when people were able to upload movie's in parts. Man, those were the days. Gamera 3 was my favorite!
My favorite showa Gamera movie is Gamera vs Barugon. My favorite Gamera movies are the Heisei movies and Gamera The Brave. The worst Gamera movies are Gamera Super Monster and Gamera The Giant Monster. I dislike Gamera The Giant Monster because it is a cheap and dumb rip off of Godzilla 1954.
Gamera vs Jiger always stood out to me because of how formidable Jiger was. Definitely one of Gameras toughest challenges, but I'll always have a soft spot for Gamera vs Guiron and Gamera vs Viras both because next to thr Heisei movies they're what I grew up with but also they're just so much fun to watch for their absolute absurdity
@@ScorpioCesar It's unfortunate. Knowing that Gamera gets to have the treatment before he does and the Blu-Rays that do exists has the most annoying region locks for anyone living outside the US.
I've not yet seen any of these film's and I was hoping to see a preview before deciding whether or not to buy the boxset's The showa era boxset isn't as easily available as the heisei era boxset & to be honest £50 is quite expensive for film's that I've not yet seen
Couldn't show a preview without the danger of the video getting flagged or taken down. My love for Gamera stems mainly from the Heisei trilogy and Gamera the Brave was pretty fun, not really a big fan of the showa ones but they're still entertaining.

Gamera Heisei Trilogy. One of the rare movie trilogy where it gets better with each passing entry.
Favorite Gamera suit design? Gamera 2 Attack of Legion. I have the DVDs but I may need to pick up this Blu-Ray set.

Viras and Guiron have definitely stood the test of time are probably the most iconic of the Gamera villains next to Gyaos
