Criterion has given us all the Showa Era Godzilla films, Mill Creek continues giving us Ultraman, and now Arrow is giving us all the Gamera films. My fellow Kaiju fans, we are blessed.
Need a King Kong boxset.
@@livingcorpse5664 Need a King Kong Box set, a Daimajin Boxset, a Super Sentai Boxset, a Harryhausen Boxset etc. Plus Mill Creek also released Mothra on Blu-ray as well as The H-Man/Battle in Outer Space, we also have Gappa out on Blu-ray, so it leaves me wondering who will get the rights to some of the other classic Kaiju films: Rodan, Frankenstein vs Baragon, War of the Gargantuas, Atragon, Space Amoeba, Matango, Varan etc. Only time will tell.
We are in the best timeline.
@@kaiju115 as far as I've heard Criterion owns the rights to some of the classic Toho films you mentioned. Hopefully blurays soon!

Missed this limited edition when it came out, but I now have both the showa era and heisei trilogy that Arrow released on blu-ray. Loved the releases. 2-3 dubs on each film, beautifully remastered in HD widescreen including the American releases of Gammera the Invincible and War of the Monsters, and tons of great bonus content with beautiful packaging and artwork. Arrow really out did themselves with this release. Now I just need to finish watching them. Just finished Gamera vs. Viras. But it takes time when your watching 3 different versions of each film, plus listening to the audio commentary on each movie, and watching all the bonus features. But I've really enjoyed it. Also really enjoyed the 72-minute cut of Gamera vs. Viras. So much nicer not having to watch 18 minutes of stock footage from the previous movies. And Arrow also made a great trailer here of their Gamera releases.

I'd rather see Gamera in his own film series, than witness him in the shadow of Godzilla. Because let's face it, if he were in the Monsterverse, that's where he'd always be; in Godzilla's shadow, constantly compared against the Big G like Kong always is.
That would be cool but sadly he would easily be beaten by Godzilla and Kong and the others

It's just meant to imply when the heisei gamera trilogy was around godzilla was "dead" in Japan. Don't look too much into it

I pre ordered this on Amazon awhile back and now on release day I've gotten no word on when it'll ship. Is the release date actually different now?

Unlike the Criterion Godzilla set this one has ALL the dubs. The classic AIP ones, the Sandy Frank ones and the ADV dubs for the 90s Gamera trilogy. Even has the HD premiere of the English language version of the first movie.
