This combo is so ridiculously power efficient! Especially when you put the cpu in eco mode. I'm getting around 40-60w on spiderman with the gpu and only max 10w power draw on cpu. Runs smoothly at 60fps for a lower power draw than my xbox.
@Vlad-wp4fk I think the minimum recommended wattage is 500 but you could probably get away with a bit less than that even so long as you aren't planning on upgrading anything without switching out the power supply.
I just built my first PC. Basically the same build. Ryzen 5 5600/ RX 6600/ 16 GB DDR4 3600 MHZ/ MSI B550 Pro-VDH WIFI/ 480G SATA SSD/ EVGA 700W 80+ White psu. Got it up and running for just under $700. Then I realized I wanted/needed a better cooler and rgb! Added another $125 Smh. It's great to see this review. I think I made a decent choice

5600g is a PCI Express 3.0 and 5600 is a 4.0. Performance wise will be 10-15 fps lower. as always you can install the bloatware free windows, search for SPECTRE WINDOWS to compensate for the frames, but i want to hear from you what the performance will be, but on sheet that's the case. have a great day mister!
@mrcooshie8436 This is true and who knows if his motherboard was compatible anyways. The only time pcie 4 is somewhat important is on higher end graphics cards rn, down the line when you go to upgrade from a 6600 (assuming you chose to) it might be an issue but not now.

I think RX6600 is still the best budget king. It is the most power efficient (to performance it offers) graphics card to have ever been made running at 100W.
I just upgraded my rig from a ryzen 5 2600x and a rx 570 8 gb to a ryzen 5 5600 and the rx 6600. All things installed on a rog b 450 f gaming and a 500w seasonic PSU. The upgrade was so worthy that I think I've made the best decision ever. Next step for me is to build a new rig with DDR5 memory in a couple of years. maybe 3 or 4 years.... What do you think? Is that a good plan?
I was running Ryzen 5 2060 with GTX1060 6GB for years. Sold my old CPU and GPU for 2200 CZK and paid 8200 CZK for new Ryzen 5 5600 and RX6600. So at the end I only paid 6000 CZK (cca 240EUR) and I have brand new CPU and GPU now, running all the new games again with no problem on high/med settings. I was building a PC for my friend at the same time, so I recommended him Ryzen 5 7600 with RX7800XT, so I hope AM5 socket will last for few years, so he can upgrade in the future like I did now. AMD is nr.1 for me in CPUs and Nvidia prices in my country are nonsense now.

5600X is a great deal today. Thanks to the 5600, the X version has dropped down its price with only 10-20$ overhead. Anyways, both 5600 and 5600X are the best AM4 1080P gaming processors.
Get a aio They make affordable ones I got msi mag core V2 aio , got my cpu 5600 up to 4.75hz Only like 4.4 or etc, with stock cooler . I run 1440p and get 111fps in forza on high to medium settings And over 60fps in all games, mostly 100fps 86 fps etc
It’d be a good idea to upgrade to 2 8GB sticks. You could just buy another 8GB and add to it if you want. Try to find the same brand Ram to pair with it. But 16GB would be good for this build

Dear Danny, I have a question to ask concerning the PSU you have chosen. The RX 6600 according to TechPowerUp has very high "20ms spikes". To be precise, the spikes are measured at 249W which is higher than the RTX 3070. Just to be on the safe side, wouldn't a 650W PSU be a safer choice? Please correct me if I am wrong. I have been reluctant to recommend this GPU for budget gaming builds precisely for this reason.
I used a 650w power supply in this build and in my build guide I have a 750w just for price and availability. 650w is plenty for this GPU and CPU combo
No. All the B550 boards I’ve gotten recently have been compatible with Ryzen 5000 series CPUs. If you’re worried, buy a board that supports BIOS flashback and you won’t need to worry either way

@@Abdullah-oj3hf No need for Gen 4 for casual game, Gen 3 is perfectly fine, but if you insist of having the "great and cheap" Gen 4, just go buy Asrock B550M Pro4, there's no need to worry about "huge difference" at later years. You probably read somewhere that some entry level GPU suffer from Gen 3 bandwidth limitation, that's only true because the entry level GPU that supposedly run on Gen 4x4 installed on Gen 3x4 slot, so yes the performance will drop, if a card needs Gen 4x8 but installed on Gen 3x8, there's little drop (probably around 5 fps avg), any card that use Gen 4x16 will run on Gen 3x16 just fine, even RTX 4090 run fine using Gen 3x16 (see GN video about it), but if one can afford those 4090, surely a price won't be an issue. I personally run my RX6600 on a Gen 3x8 mobo (MSI B450M Gaming Plus).

I have tried Spiderman remastered and elden ring. It runs 35 45 on max settings. But when i set settings to medium i easily get 70+ with no fsr. It can handle all games for next 5 years easily

I have this build and I'm using it for 1440p. At medium/high settings, you can get 100+ FPS on AAA titles.

I also upgraded from 570 to 6600. Fps in Last of Us Part 1 just doubled, from 38-40 to 70-85-90. Crazy upgrade.

There is a game test of the computer on my channel.
Thermal pads to make a lot of difference if you're going to over clock. They can't get all their air out from between the cpu and the fan.

in the UK new most of the RX 6600 cards are still too high. Only found Asrock Radeon RX 6600 Dual at £229 rest brands 269- 289.

They would be basically the same performance. With either of those setups, you’d be GPU limited

I would upgrade your power supply. You’re getting a little close to your power supply’s limits with those components. 550-600w sounds like a safe bet.

I’m not sure of the exact performance uplift, but the 5600G is only PCIe 3.0, while the 5600 is 4.0. That alone is worth choosing the 5600.
The G is integrated graphics, no need for a gpu. Also runs like a 5500. No G needs card. 5600X needs card and runs higher.
