I like the gray background as it’s so neutral. Especially good with those gorgeous deep burgundy type colors. I bet the gray would work with almost any color family. Thanks for another relaxing video. ❤️
I was so, so disappointed in the Rouge Noir. I'm still searching for a deep, deep, deep red that looks black with a red undertone. Anna, as you know, I only use ORLY products but, they really are sloooow drying. Partly my fault because I was using way too much, yet even now, that you've taught me to do two thin coats have made a HUGE difference it is still a long drying process. Thanks for another great vid and, the dark grey background looked the best to me. As far as MSL's spitting problem, I think you need to put up the clear plexiglass between him and the nails. 🤣 Just kidding, MSL. (Anna, I'm really not. 😷) All joking aside, thank you guys so very much for all the education and fun. You make my day when there's a new video. Oh, and thank you for the mention. That is so sweet of you guys. - Hugs as always.
If you can find it (on amazon or poshmark maybe??), there was a Sally Hansen Lacquer Shine color named Glossy that is my favorite of all time. It looks like the deepest red shimmer in the bottle but it goes on practically black - only in very bright light do you see a little red shimmer. Vampiest color ever 😉
Anna, I have a lot of these little kiko polishes (039 vintage red is SO unique and beautiful) and you taught me today that the black cap could be removed. And indeed it is more confortable 😁 thank you!!
Wow, this is my first time watching your video and i found it super useful & detail! Keep up the good works! 👏 And yeah, revlon vixen won my heart here XD🏆 (tho all colours here are so beautiful too T-T) Thank you for the comparison~
I love comparison videos! Thank you! Polish oops’s on the skin bug me, too. I clean up each nail after I paint it, while the polish is wet. Unfortunately, I am not as talented as you are and almost always touch the skin. I do find it amazing at how much easier it is to paint in the lines with the nice flat paddle brushes. The paddle brushes can even work for small nails. You can turn them on their side. I have wide load nails, so don’t have narrow nails.
I was getting worried that didn't Mr. Salon Life spit on his nails even once this time, but the ending saved my evening! 😂😁 Thanks for another interesting video! I just love dark and vampy shades like these! 🖤❤🖤
Wow, I had Vixen back in the '90s (I was a broke college kid, and could NOT afford Chanel), and it didn't have that brush back then. Glad they've updated it!
These are so great. I have a 25 year old bottle of Vixen.😂 I miss the Revlon Vixen lipstick. That was my fave around 1995. I bought Dark Lava last year after watching you paint it. It's time for me to replace Vixen.
My ultimate video, my absolute favorites! Almost black dark reds! The only one missing is Dior Nuit 1947. With it's barely detectable shimmer only in certain lights.
Hi! I know this message is kinda late but I remember that I requested you to find a dupe for Chanel vamp. Yesterday I was able to try Chanel Vamp at Ulta then when I got home I found the perfect/exact dupe on my collection, it is the OPI Sleigh ride for two which also have that slight shimmer. I am so happy.
Love this type of color! I actually have an ancient bottle of Revlon Vixen (from a million years ago) and it must have some ingredient in it that’s no longer used because when it dried on the swatch stick, it has a grey powdery residue. Same thing happened with a few other old polishes. So I’m gonna take it to the hazardous waste station 😬 and get a new bottle! Orly After Hours is a burgundy wine shade that provides a similar look. ☮️💟
I love these dark reds. I literally just received CND Vinylux Dark Lava today! My first CND polish @ your recommendation. (You should add these to your Amazon store) ❣️❣️
Thank you for another great video…. I find them so therapeutic 😁 Could I ask which of the Essie base coats you recommend for normal nails or is it just a case of preference ? There are so many to choose from😩
Hi N M! Thank you for your kind words! Personally I don't find that there is a huge difference between them. I like the Smooth-e because it dries matte so you can tell when it's dry, but all of them are nice to be honest.
I got a Revlon shimmery burgundy that I’ve hoped is a Vamp dupe, but now that I actually see Vamp I’m not so sure. It’s called Revlon Divine, I’m pretty sure it’s a bit brighter/browner (there’s like no purple in it, Vamp has more comparatively) than Vamp. Maybe in low light it’s harder to tell.
I’m excited, I have Model Clicks and Vixen! But still want the Chanel polishes 🤪 Essie Gel Couture polishes never dry all the way for me! I feel like they dry, but are always soft to the touch. Quite frustrating!
Uma Thurman was wearing a different color , famously in 1994 95 Madonna couldn’t find a dark color red like this and her stylist mixed two colors together … Chanel found out and bottled it (vamp) and it was sold out in days after for about 1 year … everyone copied Chanel after that ! And made that color … I know this because I lived these times Play by Play . My friends were dying for that color .
I have to do a wear test! We just received Vixen so I'm not sure. I think I prefer Revlon Vixen because of the brush to be honest. Essie new brushes are good but Revlons are a bit better. And with colors like this you don't want to make mistakes.
Hi Joanne! After a quick yougoogliemooglie search I was only able to find an article from fivezero.ca stating that Mac had discontinued their laquer brand, this was from 2016. Any reviews of the product or purchase all seem to cease as of 2016 on Walmart.com....thezoereport.com published a blog in Sept 2021 showing MAC had done beauty a collab with artist Rosalia, part of this collection was 6 nail laquers. On The MAC website these laquers and nail adds can be found here. www.maccosmetics.com/products/13855/products/makeup/nails/lacquer Hope that helps. - MSL
so Vamp has a slight shimmer? i could have sworn it was a creme years ago. it was a favorite of one of my clients. could they have changed the formula?
Hi Laura! Yes, Vamp has a slight shimmer and Rouge Noir doesn't. I always thought they were the same polish just with different name for US/European market but they are different.
I like the gray background as it’s so neutral. Especially good with those gorgeous deep burgundy type colors. I bet the gray would work with almost any color family. Thanks for another relaxing video. ❤️

I like Essie wicked. That is so sweet of you to donate colors for this video!
Love the burgundy nail polishes.
These very very dark reds are some of my favorite shades. And in my opinion they work well on men too, specially the Rouge Noir!

I love your assistant so much he makes me crack up!! 😭😭♥♥♥
Morgan Taylor's Black Cherry Berry is also a very good dupe, I wear it a lot.
I loved this video- even the background experimentation. I think black was best to show the true color differences of the polish.
Yay! I have the Essie and the Revlon. I’m all set! Love these types of videos from you!!♥️
Thank you Susan! 🥰
Chanel Vamp was my first Chanel polish purchase, this video is right up my alley ❤️ sending love from Philly 💗
Thank you Devin! Sending love from Costa Brava ❤️🌊
Love the comparisons and the black and white backdrop 😵👌 made such a big difference to see differences. 👏🏻
I like the grey or white background the best. Great video once again!
Thank you Nykka3! ❤️

So do I 😅. It still has the $3.93 Walgreens price tag. Now I'm curious what the current price is...
@@sheelfjohnson If you look on Amazon, they're $3.97! Inflation-proof! 😂❤️
Wow have you used the old bottle recently?
@@nykka3 I have, and it seems fine!😄
@@mothralovesyou Haha! I don't know, that extra 4 pennies might put me over budget 😁❤
This is my go to color. I enjoyed see8ng the subtle differences.
I laughed about you playing with the different backgrounds 😄😂
We have too much fun sometimes! 🤣🥳
Really enjoyed seeing the differences with the black background.
My ultimate video, my absolute favorites! Almost black dark reds! The only one missing is Dior Nuit 1947. With it's barely detectable shimmer only in certain lights.
Yes!!! How could I not show it? I showed it in Part 1 :) ua-cam.com/video/rPEnLajA57s/v-deo.html
I love love love this type of shade 😍
If its possible, I am hoping the time stamps will come back. They really help me go back and fort to the video when deciding what color to purchase.
Yes! I will add them! Got a little lazy 🤭
Revlon vixen was one of the very first polishes I owned and I loved it. I might have used the entire bottle 😂
I choose Revlon too, very nice color.

I really like the Revlon Vixen

What about black cherry from revlon ? I love this video
Vamp is the PERFECT color ❤️❤️❤️

Great advice. Thank you for always taking the time to reply.
I'm thinking as well of Shellac 'Spike', which should exist in Vinylux. It's more on the lines of the 'purple-based one', but it has shimmer! 😀
Ahhhhh…. Yeah! I have to look at it! I don’t think Spike exists in Vinylux
Nails Inc Victoria is the exxxxxact same shade as Rouge Noir! I'm surprised you didn't get it yet

How would you compare revlon vixen to Essie wicked with regards to formula and longevity?

Can you plz explain to us the difference in application between the 1st and 2nd coats??? Do you “float” the 2nd coat and what exactly does that mean??
I will make a quick video tomorrow :)

We’re any of those nitrocellulose free?
None, only Dazzle Dry to our knowledge (as a system).
