I don’t believe in god, but thank god that this particular set has been captured on audiovisual - and edited to perfection - so that future generations may glimpse through a window in time and awe at what great music played live can sound like.
This brings so much good memories...Saw them twice : in 98 in Toulouse, and in 2009 in Marseille. Without Massive Attack, the music scene would have been so different...They are simply above "Trip Hop", "Cold Electro Wave" or some others categories...One of the bands that really changed my life for sure...
Massive Attack was a reference in the music industry...But the last album "Heligoland" didn't match "Mezzanine" for sure. It was not bad at all, but not striking though...I am wondering if the band will ever record an other album in the future...
+Oumayma Garess Oh really ! Cheers for the information ! I am living in the South, I will check if there is any planned date in Marseille. Tricky should be part of this new album if I remember a short subject I saw on TV 2 years ago mentionning that he will record with the band. Looking forward to hearing the stuff then !

To watch 3D Del Naja explode during Atlas Air by DANCING no less was truly blissful. Usually subdued and calm, this ending to the show gave me the chills.

In July 2010 Massive Attack where in the position they could sound any way they wanted to. They where truly genre transcending and progressive with tunes that evolved gently into one another. It starts out with some hardcore techno, then some progressive rock with The Leather Nuns haunting Desolation Avenue from 1985 in the outro. Beautiful trip-hop soulsong Safe from harm ends in a jam session with salutations to Sonic Youth and Rage against the machine. Traditional rhythm and harmonies from the middle east with laid back toasting follows. The last song, enter a hammond organ with disteffect, has a Doors vibe to it. You only wait for Jim Morrison to step up to the mike. The song evolves into progressive rock electronica, not unlike todays Floating Points. It´s amazing. How wide can a span of inspiration be? And yet, it has such a light touch to it.
just brilliant...massive attack: you arrived into my life when i was pregnant with my second son and from then on you have become part of his life...i saw you in Melbourne AUS on yr first tour - such a small crowd but we surely danced all night and appreciated the luxury of having you to ourselves that cold night - and now you are being played by my musician lad to all his friends at their parties. this is definitely one of the BEST concerts ever. love from down under in the antipodes!
I believe we will remember massive attack in 40 years, like we remember now the great band of yesterday. We will remember this epicness, those great songs and artists.
