- DK Engineering gave me the opportunity to have a closer look around this epic Mercedes Benz W140 S600L Estate conversion by Falcon Design Germany. It doesn't get any better than a V12 Estate car, and this one could be yours! Auction ends August 7th on Carhuna:

This much effort to make this, and yet they left a carpenter's hinge exposed, looking like you made it with plywood.
I thought too, these hinges remind me more of an attic than an S class
If you go to the effort of making an S Class estate, I would use something other than brass wood hinges on the rear floor well cover and side pods. Lovely motor, I am being picky!

I can’t believe that this pre-facelift model is from 96. W140 first generation production was ended in 94. This vehicle mechanical odometer on dashboard is from 91-92. Later it was an electronic. So, maybe this particular vehicle was converted to estate in 96?
I think you are correct about the age, I think I was misinformed but only realised when it was too late to edit
The switchgear is post-facelift (the prefacelift had different icons on the heated seat buttons) except for the climate control and interior mirror switch. The facelift lost the electric interior mirror adjustment which this one has.

There were quite a Lot of similar Cars built in Germany. For Instance VW Scirocco Wagon (SciWaGo as a Wordplay on Dr.Schiwago)

Its cool, but a shame its not a proper estate with fold down seats. Those wood hinges in the boot to!
This is because there is a gas tank between the luggage compartment and the back seat.

It looks absolutely beautiful, but without fold down seats it is just a ridiculous exercise. The whole point of an estate car is to have the option of having enormous long luggage space if needed. What this has is just a tall trunk (or "boot").

looks kind of like one of the s73s Sultan had. im not a huge w140 guy I prefer any other s class. now Sultan had a bunch of premerger cars all yellow with red gutz- , there's 1 or 2 pics of his r129's and s124's they probably weren't ones that got looked after they are probably with the 100's of rotting s classes. I want to do a c126 widebody shooting brakes full amg'd out with just really a carbon estate roof and c pillar. the full open f/r windows must stay it wouldn't be hard to do. what do you think. we need a singer style premerger tribute builder!!!!!

Looks reminiscent of a rover 400 estate from the same era, the engine should feel like new if it's only done around 60 thousand miles!
Not a fan of the witdth of the c-pillar. Makes it look just like a sedan with a wagon boot slapped on.. Looked better in black. Cool with a V12 wagon though! 👌
It’s the rake angle and the width. Most wagon’s have a near vertical c pillar.

Not in white, not with that jade green interior colour and the rear hatch is smaller than on a C class. But yes, W140 600 very much
there is 1 single pic of a blue AMG kitted, with blue pentas 126 estate at speed but its got to be a fake because I've looked everywhere and cant find a word about it. have you seen that picture?

This is awesome, but that head unit is so out of place. You'd think they could have found a better modern one or put in a Becker unit. Any idea how much this sold for? I didn't see the sales price when I went to the linked page.

Rear styling is neat but the boot is tiny and looks like the rear seats don't fold, making it a disappointment as a load lugger.
That SnotWood®️ is just about as disgusting as anyone could make it, 11/10!! :)
maybe the glass is taken from a w210 boot, but that looks like custom or heavely modded metal as a w210 boot does not fit those lights like that, it curves around rounded lights.

Those who know their Mercedes will always recognize the beauty of the W140 was always due to their boxy angular design.
The curved rear end A pillar (presumably following the curved design style of the 210 , :- think headlights here) was never going to work with the W140…

Mercedes-Benz of the 70s and 80s were 10 times better engineered than those in the 90s. It seems they traded quality for quantity. My Father drove S-class Mercedes and they were built like tanks. His 1987 420SEL had 375,000 miles on it after he drove it for 10 years.

Someone did one using the 124 rear and it didn’t look right
I’m surprised at that age it’s bout rusted away . The saloon version of that were terrible for rotting.

The back is round.. doenst fit to the rest of the car which is more boxy

It is kind of a unicorn but it is still very noticable that it is a conversion. The thick c-pillar from W140 sticks out and makes it look like an "unnatural" estate. The estate part might be 75% blended in to the car but the remaining 25% makes it look like a botch job. The craftsmanship might be on point but the car itself is an abomination. The W140 is beatiful, this is not.
As an w140 owner... I think this thing is ugly af.. Glad they've never produced this.
At the time this would have been considered one of the ugliest cars ever and that's why it's so rare now.

I love Benz cars, but this is one of the worst mods that I have ever seen. White wheels on white exterior, green interior as if a 3 year old picked the color, white grille doesn't suit either and not to mention the shitty speaker enclosures in the boot. The 140 is a legend and this car doesn't do it any justice.

the stupidest car conversion I've ever seen. They made a station wagon without rebuilding the back seat and moving the fuel tank under the floor. Who needs a station wagon if they can't fold the back seats down. There's not even a ski slot in the seat. Complete nonsense because compared to the normal W140 the difference is that you can put your suitcase upright instead of just flat, but you can't put more suitcases in. Someone will immediately say that the S-Class isn't for carrying things, maybe that's why Mercedes didn't make the S-Class station wagon? In addition, the C-pillar is fucked up, it's definitely too thick for the whole body of the car. The boot lid gives the impression of a conversion from the C-Class, it's so small next to the body of the back.
Maybe I need to buy a W140 and do it properly!
