The wood I used is basswood, and I buy it in 1x1x6 inch blanks. I simply cut the 6-inch blank down into several 2" sections using a handsaw.

I think it's amazing to see the different carving styles of wood carvers. Some are really aggressive at taking wood off, and some are more conservative. I think I will be a little aggressive at it, I still have to learn to take it slow😁. Patients is a vertue, especaily in whittling.
