Welcome to the second video in the "Whittle a Chess Set" series! I'll show you how, step-by-step, you can take a simple piece of wood and carve it into a simple (but awesome-looking) rook.

The wood I used is basswood, and I buy it in 1x1x6 inch blanks. I simply cut the 6-inch blank down into several 1.5" sections using a handsaw.

I think your on to something with the Chess pieces. For a beginner they are pretty simple shapes to carve & a real confidence builder and for someone who is more skilled they are just plain good practice. Good series :)
