I visit NYC every year and I typically feel safe and fine. Also I for the first time just tried my dirty water hotdog and had Billys Cart and want to thank you for putting up these reviews. Had it on Thursday and it was delicious.

Those crime stats amazed me. I know punishment for crimes is very strict in the Arabian Countries. Hefty punishment is a good deterrent to preventing crime. Time to wake up North American !!
That South African woman was beautiful. However, I always have my guard up whenever a pretty woman approaches me. Hopefully she wasn’t trying to prove to you that pickpockets exists in Manhattan too. Lol.

I've been visiting NYC for 40 yrs and I've never felt threatened. Like everywhere else, you just have to check your six. It's a wonderful city and I think about getting back there often.

I think if you're a tourist and you are traveling anywhere, whether domestically in the U.S. or abroad you cannot show your naivety, fear, or anything like that. I love going to NOLA and have never once felt unsafe even walking around the French Quarter at night by myself. However, my brother in law went there with his wife and refused to go out to Bourbon street at night, because he was scared. I told him, just use your common sense and if something seems sketchy then it is sketchy.
Many years ago I had a group of gypsy kids in Paris (young kids) come up to me and present a book to "sign". They tried to use that as cover to use a small blade to cut and steal things off me. Really, it's actually heartbreaking.

Chris, in my experience, I leave all jewelry at home when I travel abroad. I don't take a wallet either, I keep my cash in a zipped pocket that is difficult to see on my pants. Fortunately, one doesn't have to carry much cash today, just one or two credit cards to get around. Great video. Stay well.

Years ago. It’s more dangerous than in 2019 but it is still safer than most major cities.

It was worse during the pandemic and coming back from the pandemic. I would say it's getting better.

Just remember they aren't reporting a lot of crime today because its not worth the cops' time to arrest people who just get turned back out in an hour.
The major contrast between the crime numbers in Paris/Barcelona vs NYC is that a HUGE percentage of the crime in Paris/Barcelona is pickpocketing.

Memphis TN is currently at the top of crime list from minor to homicide every day.
I've traveled the country, work out of Memphis, it's bad. The only trouble I ever had in NY was at Hunts Point

The cup ,and balls trick is one of the oldest tricks in the book ,cup and bal'game, also known as the 'shell' game, first started around 2,000 years ago,very old trick..i used to perform that trick for fun when i was younger..,and yes some bad people "scammers" are taking advantage of people the truth is you Can NOT Beat the Shell Game...

Excellent vid. My home city of Manchester in the UK has horrible statistics, however I feel totally safe walking around at night. Trust me, every continent, country, city, town & village has it's fair share of idiots. But don't let people with political agendas spoil your travel plans.

Love hot dog reviews, one bite of the dog, everyone knows the rules. however, numbers are numbers and do not tell the whole story.. i am an old nyc dude. and yes was victim of a crime in the 80´s.
it is sad to see how the city looks now because i remember the city in the late 70´s, 80´s and how it took giuliani and his administration policies to really make nyc a great city. his 8 years plus 12 years of Bloomberg´s policies really had a transformative effect. that is 20 years of common sense policies. not politics, but common sense approach to life and running a big city. the rest and the now is history.

According to the fiscal policy institute, during 2020-2022 NY lost 2400 millionaires while it gained 17500. It also found that most who left was because of covid issues and being able to work remotely. The majority of those leaving NY were middle class and has more to do with the rising cost of living here.
And, anyone can Google the report and see the stats for themselves. Also anecdotally, I work in high end residential. I can tell you for a fact that business is booming.
