      I recall at a diner I can get a hammburger, fries and soda for .90 cents. A whole pizza for $1.25. Some places I have seen $1.00 a slice based a whole pie cut into 16 pcs.

    The sausage looked good. Old ladies like that used to keep all us knuckle heads in line back in the day lol. Sucks that a $100 bill feels like the new $20. Look forward to the next video.

    I've done San Gennaro many times back in the 1980s and 1990s. Some nights it was so packed you used to have to squeeze your way through the crowds. For me sweet sausage with pepper and onion, Zeppole at least. Now the last San Gennaro I did was in Las Vegas. That one I had some calamari that was done perfectly. Then watched the Rat Pack players doing Sinatra and Dean Martin. Good times.

    I am across the river and have not been to SG since 2002. I enjoy watching UA-cam of people filming and I pay attention to the pricing. You are the only one mentioning the pricing which is very interesting and over priced.

    Great tour. You know your San San Gennaro, Brother! Unfortunately the last time I was at the San Gennaro Festival, it was when my friend and I had our nice bikes stolen at South Street Sea Port about 7 years ago and we had to walk back to the PATH train to get back to Jersey and we passed through the San Gennaro Festival and had a nice Italian meal at Lombardi's, which I think is one of the oldest pizzeria's in NYC. It was a depressing walk back home but at least we had a good meal along the way and made the best of it. What's funny is that on the morning before we left to ride from NJ over the George Washington Bridge over to South Street Sea Port, I remember watching a You Tube video on bike locks. Then when my friend locked our bikes at South Street Sea Port with his lock, I knew that the lock was noy theft proof, but for some reason my mind went blank. Laterally I had a brain fart. I felt like I was day dreaming or sleep walking, because I knew that the lock was garbage, but I said nothing. And the bikes were stolen.

    Some food vendors have to charge what they charge say the $15 for sausage is because they have to pay so much money for rent ,It's like when you go to fairs/ Carnivals They charge $7 for a slice of pizza or $9 for a hotdog it's usually because they're paying 8k a week rent

  • @fatsdulange
    @fatsdulange 9 місяців тому +4

    I'd pay $10 for a sausage, onions, peppers sandwich in a heartbeat. Like you said, it ain't Costco. Wife and I were in a little podunk town in 'gods' country Kentucky last weekend. Little festival that draws hundreds a day. Got a chicken and shrimp w/rice meal. $30 !! Chicken was supposed to be jerk seasoned. Shrimp, garlic and black pepper. Couldn't taste either. Both needed salt just for some taste. And rice? Forget about it. Bland!!! But what you gonna do when in a festival? Hindsight being 20/20 I'll know better next time to set a personal limit and walk when they ask for more than. Them and another vendor had no pricing posted. Never again.

    Man, you're doing the right channel. I couldn't eat all that and then go in for lunch. The sausage and peppers looked really good, I haven't had one in a long time. I've tried wood-fired no-flop NYC pizza, but as a born-and-raised Midwest guy, I feel like you do about deep-dish Geno's East Chicago pie that's 4" thick homemade sausage that's a piece the size of the pizza and fresh mozzarella cheese. Good videos!

    Hi Chris,Sorry About The Old Pastry, I Have Got Old Pastry's Too .Looks Like They Have More Then What They Will Sell. Still A Very Good Tour Of The Feast. There Is One Thing I Wish The Venders Would Do And That Is If You Want To Sell ALL OF YOUR FOOD ITEMS LOWER THE PRICE SO MOST PEOPLE CAN BUY. They Would Have Lines Way Down The Street. I See Lots Of Food Cooking [MEAT] But Thousands Of People Walking By . I Wonder How Much Waste There Is. After They Cook The Meat Or Donut, Or Pastry It's Only Good For A Little While. It Seems They Pass On The Cost Of Their Waste To The Few People That Are Buying. Just Saying.

    Normally I would say don't low-ball a vendor, b/c they're just trying to make a living, but since the pastry was inferior, it was okay. Thanks for the video!

      I use to work in NYC financia area. Just before 9/11, there was a pizza place that sold $1.00 slice which was big. Sabrett dogs were about $1.00. about 10 years later, the dog raised up and price, many had the Sabrett umbrell and many were not Sabrett dogs. In Newark, NJ there is a dog called JJ Hot Dogs. Through the years I would enjoy watching the price go up. It started at $2.85 for 3, today $8.00 for 3. My wife and I would order 6 dogs and 2 cans of soda for under $8.00. I understand inflation and wages, however my wife cooks Sabrett dogs at home and just as good.
