Definitely. All the mechanical pieces are brilliant - large water storage, copper pipe heating, the wood stove. The bed mechanism. It's an extremely well-designed van. Swiss engineering ;)
I've watched many van builds, even by engineers. This is one of the best, if not hands down the best van build on UA-cam. This couple is so talented. This engineer is worth his weight in gold. He has thought out every feature completely. He is innovative, artistic, and mastered every concept, from weight balancing to weight of materials, composite materials, optimal build layout, tech must have gadgets like the Kombi sensor, and even ensuring that lower quality fuels don't impact his engine. Truly an incredible man. I'd love to siphon his brain database into mine and have all this knowledge. Watched this video multiple times. Good video work, and exceptional van build. Bravo once again! You continue to inspire, impress, and teach.
I love the build, but can I say that doing this is easier if you have the means to do it.....nost people do not have that luxury.....most people could afford to do this if on a fixed income and pay as u go.....im not at all knocking him or his build.....i think it's fabulous....i just I had the money to do i quickly and get on my way....but for me, its a little at a time which prolly gonna take me 2 years to do.....but this is the life I want....to just be free and not be under the thumb of utilities or landlord or anything of that nature.....luckily I can go to work in any state at anytime!
Ingrid Cabrera it would be cool if it was like a lamps shade curtain that’s got a tie system when you pull it lets go and is your shower curtain and opposite pull turns into chandelier or lamp shade or maybe pops into a little cubbie built into the roof. It might have to be a tiny shower curtain
We love the hidden book storage area, the shower, the pulling out bed and the fact that they shipped their van from Switzerland + they seem like a really sweet couple :)
Their license plate plus their heavy accents ;) are both Swiss so that's where they started their journey, I assume. If you look at the pictures of when they were working on the van build, the outdoor area also looks like it could be in Swiss climate.
They have a really nice setup. I like the map on the wall; how their bed slides up to a couch. The drawers/cut out not only reduces weight, things can breath. Sweet!!!!
wow, i like how they thanked their friends that helped them with the build. They gave them a huge thanks by name and I dont ever remember seeing youtubers give that much thanks! It’s nice to see
Daenerys not all theres alot of prejudice people in switzerland Gfs father is from Italy her mother native swiss I've been told stories (she moved to Germany at 2 lived there until 8 and moved back to Switzerland after) about her or others being treated like shit for not being pure blood swiss aswell as people being outright dick heads for the sake of it so it's just like every country just romanticized more than most Oh and I forgot to add before someone gets salty i said alot of bit all or most of There are plenty of good and nice swiss people
I pay $600 a month for a condo that’s too small that I’ll never own with an air conditioner that breaks down every summer and a heater that breaks down every winter. The pipes burst in the complex at least twice a year due to age. The complex floods when it rains just a little too long or a little too quickly. I watch videos like this and tell my neighbors “one day I’m gonna take the dog and build a van and explore somewhere new every weekend and it’ll be my home” and they look at me and say “you’re crazy”. Then I think about how much I pay for a condo that’s too small that I’ll never own with an ac that breaks down every summer and a heater that breaks down every winter in a complex where the pipes burst twice a year and the grounds flood whenever it rains a little too long or a little too quickly and how everyone happily pays their fees every month and joke back at them “yea, I sure am crazy.”
Jojo_is_a_GO If you think $600 is expensive for a condo you have no idea how bad it is out there. My apartment goes for $965 a month for 1 bedroom in California. And I’m sure your condo has more room than a Wan.
I liked Jojo's comment because he's not just talking about the amount of rent; he's talking about the fact that he pays rent and the amount of problems the condo has that he has to deal with. My grandmother would say when she lived in the south, "I'm not going to pay you and kiss your a&% too."
After watching a lot of mini house/van-military vehicle conversions and a bike with a tent, I realize that the smaller your home is the more love and life it holds in.
The layout of this van is brilliant, as is the actual craftsmanship. Everything feels spacious - comfy seating, big table, massive bed, proper kitchen, shower, plus a wood-burning stove. And tonnes of packing space at the back. I also LOVE that nothing is fiddly and cumbersome to set up. The table is just one simple slide. The bed is just one simple slide. Such a clever design. For a Sprinter-sized van, this is definitely the best one I've seen.
Nice setup. I got a little concerned however when I noticed at 8:00 how you seem to have cut the drivers seat into the counter top. If you get rear ended and your full body weight gets pressed into the seat and the headrest, seems like there's a good chance you'll hit your neck into the protruding part of the counter top. Might consider cutting that part out for safety.
He is an Engineer but that doesn't means this was all his ideas! He must have seen millions of video and read thousands of blogs before designing/building it!
Agreed very well done! Those older 4x4 sprinters are amazing. We imported a DOKA 4x4 from Germany to Canada. Build a camper body for it, loving it. Super efficient and capable truck .
Finally one van with the extra wood removed, I always wonder why they don't remove the extra wood from anything and remove the weight as much as possible, but now I finally get the ones that do that and yes of course they are Swiss :D
I wish safe and lovely travels to you two. Thank you for saying at the end “you should do it. You can do it.” Not many people say that in their Skoolie videos. Thank you very much
His idea of locking the car in reverse is just one way in which he proves in a humble way just how brilliant he is. He thought of every thing to keep them save. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.
This is extraordinary! I'm in a 17' trailer and they have more space than I do!!! Really excellent job! I hope he goes on to design a new and better generation of RVs. The standard RVs do not use space well at all. Well done.
This is the most perfectly practical vans I have ever seen on the internet. That cozy homely feel, i have seen no where else. And that Map on the wall looks perfect. Beautiful couple with well deserved vehicle.
You folks are awesome. You come across so genuine, humble and sincere. You obviously put quite a bit of thought into the design of your van and the functionality of it is amazing. The stove, the water, the propane, the storage and especially the shower are quite impressive. It's great that you are in a position where you can afford to travel and see different parts of the world in an upclose and personal way, that is the best way. I think if more people could afford to live that way for a few years, they would do so ASAP. I hope you are still traveling and enjoying the world and the many experiences it has to offer. Please exercise caution though. I have traveled a good deal and have had excellent experiences but there is danger out there so don't be too trusting all the time and think about every invitation and situation. With that said..............Happy Trails !! God bless. 👍🏼

Great build! So much detail. You can really see all the love that went into this van. I love seeing the ways van dwellers in other countries have discovered to solved little problems! The heat distribution system with the pipe at the head of the bed and little copper pipe was a great idea.
Easy to do it for the camera. The first few days of the journey can be difficult when you spend practically 24/7 with each other. You just want to push your partner off the cliff sometimes. Once you get over the hurdle, and talk more about what's work or not, and... give each other tons of space and alone time when necessary, you become companions and all can be really rewarding
Van life is awesome but like everything in life it has downsides. Don’t wanne sound negative but I think it’d fair to mention that van life can get pretty lonely - sure you met a lot of people on the road but most connections will stay shallow it’s hard to emotionally invest in new people if you are always on the go. Also it’s a very privileged lifestyle which contradicts the self proclaimed image of most Vaners who see themselves as minimalists. Nothing wrong with that but I wish people would be more aware of it
What a sweethearts, and smarty-pants. At the end it brought tears to my eyes. I'm a US immigrant, and as a child hiked and skied the Swiss alps. But what got me was when they said how it made them sad listening to people telling them this was their dream. They're right, but realistically, not all of us can follow our dreams like that though. I'm stuck in a hospital bed for most of my days, and have six hospitalizations a year. Yet I'm slowly making my dream come true, even test drove a Ram Promaster City and LOVED it. So I can take my hospital bed with me, and venture 30 minutes away, into the desert...but who knows what my own van adventures will ultimately bring. I just don't think I'm meant to be stuck for five more years at home, in bed 20 hours a day.
Mexico has some of the nicest people and best foods, I went to the Yucatan area and everyone said the same thing to me... and I asked them the same thing... it was always people too scared to go trying to scare others into not going. I hope to be able to do something like what y'all are doing in some fashion eventually once me and my girl finish College (University). Rock on y'all!
Easily one of the best van conversions I’ve seen because they take advantage of using the space they have; most vans don’t have a shower, some don’t even have a toilet, this has both without taking any extra space. Even the bed is genius: a couch AND a bed. They saved so much space and made it so much more comfy than other van conversions. I also loved their accents ‘wan’😂.
This is the best thought out concept I have seen by far. And the best build I have seen. I love that it’s not so crowded like other van builds. Awesome job you guys!!!

Fabulous! I think this the very best van I have seen😄 you really have thought of everything. I love the Saab reverse gear lock, so sensible. Safe and happy travels!
Considering is a self built, I think this van is very good. The kitchen layout is very original and you can notice lots of good design details eg. the drawers, the sliding tables or the bed. Congratulations to the Papapitufo team!
The absolute best layout of any Van ive seen ever !!!! Definitely gonna be flowing this exact build to a tee they have everything and then some even a shower and fireplace!!!❤❤❤

I think this may be the most well engineered build I have encountered, what do you think?
Agreed.
They have a super nice set up.
i would concur with you sir
Definitely. All the mechanical pieces are brilliant - large water storage, copper pipe heating, the wood stove. The bed mechanism. It's an extremely well-designed van. Swiss engineering ;)
Yep. Best one yet.
I was touched by the extra detail that Andres put into the van for her.
me too! the propane feet thing so sweet
Yeah :) cute couple

I think she was touched also.

That van is planned out so well that I´m kind of miffed that they don´t have a nicer shower curtain system.
Thanks for posting because you said everything I was trying to formulate in my head. I'm getting old, lol.
Yep, they truly did make great use of that space. Even by UK/European standards that's not "big" as those sorts of vans go!
It's a nice van but it's only a 5/10. I have seen so many better designs. Still nice tho.
Nice! My shower is a hula hoop with a curtain and I stand in a tiny baby pool. Then put it all away. 5 min set up, 5 min take down!
Yeah, the hula-hoop setup is great - especially with one of those recirculating portable shower pumps and a heater stuck into the bucket of water.
FearlessMetv JoPaddy Art & Entertainment lol thats actually an amazing idea haha
Only issue i can see with shower inside like that is moisture build up very quickly all over the van every time you take a shower.
Wouldn't an exhaust fan solve that?
Genius! Love how he made little touches to comfort his lady! Precious couple.
We love the hidden book storage area, the shower, the pulling out bed and the fact that they shipped their van from Switzerland + they seem like a really sweet couple :)
They shipped it from Germany and did the works in Swiss.
Their license plate plus their heavy accents ;) are both Swiss so that's where they started their journey, I assume. If you look at the pictures of when they were working on the van build, the outdoor area also looks like it could be in Swiss climate.
I was admiring the latch system for the book storage. Very nice design
I have seen hundreds of van design, this is the best design ever, it's a perfect size vehicle, and has everything you need
Agree. Have been gathering info for over a year now & this is my favorite so far.
I never thought I’d see a van with a “fireplace” inside!!
I like how he says "van" and his accent and his voice is very calming. cute couple all in all with their papa smurf van
Wan
I love the name of the van!
THEY FIT A SHOWER IN THERE?! These two are geniuses. So well designed.
Berke Beidler the Swiss are known euphemistically as "better Germans" for a reason you know 😉
Well they’re engineers, they probably had a multi-dimensional portal in there or some shit.
Shower, meh. The full wall map of the world is awesome. Also love the tiny wood stove.
thats what a enginner is lol.
Look up the channel Travel with Jaz, he also was able to fit a full shower inside a sprinter van! He even made it into a full bathroom!
They have a really nice setup. I like the map on the wall; how their bed slides up to a couch. The drawers/cut out not only reduces weight, things can breath. Sweet!!!!
The way their bed slide out, i'm in love. #goals
This is by far one of the most practical and livable Van's I have seen! Amazing design

@Dixie Ten Broeck it never says in the video. I haven't found any more in later videos either.
It looks like there just slits cut for leaning the seat back. Probably keeps it straighter when driving.
Wow! This must be the more functional van I've seen! The design is awesome

That's what happens when you have an engineer designing their own van. They come up with really interesting and innovative features.
He is an Engineer but that doesn't means this was all his ideas! He must have seen millions of video and read thousands of blogs before designing/building it!
My dentist used to be an engineer! He tackles dental issues with great imagination and know-how!

Such a lovely couple. They look really happy. In fact, everyone who lives in a van looks really happy. Time to hit the road, methinks.
indeed. A simple life. Not the rat race
A lot of them are selling the image of happiness

I absolutely love how you decorated your van. I absolutely love the color scheme. Blue is my favorite color. A very calming, relaxing color scheme. I love how you put maps into your decor. You put it all so well together, even storage. Beautiful.💖💖💖
sehr schöner Ausbau. Mit Hirn und Verstand - Bravo.
I saw a lot of Van videos but this is amazing. Good inspiration for me. Just I need to access driver seat easily
By far the most beautiful vansion I have ever seen♡It's amazing. I can't wait to build mine.
And please be safe out there.
Yo these ppl are so much love..!! She got watery-eyed when thanking friends, saying that will always always stay.❤

Your lightweight drawer design is a genius idea.

Thats what they are still for.......
Lol not at all.
Not only the best designed van i've seen, but also the prettiest!
WHAT A CHARMING COUPLE!!
I think you just found the Bat-van. Absolutely amazing design and some serious skills involved. Nice vid too!
It's always amazing to me when van life ticks all the boxes for me. Bathroom, shower, bed, water, food, and climate control. What a great build.

First time seeing a fold down and pull out bed like this. Very good.

I like how the wood stove exhaust vent goes right through Saudi Arabia on your map...
