Line 5 is a critical issue for the states of WI as well as MI. Narrowing the discussion to only the sections running under Mackinaw is not the only place an environmental disaster with horrific consequences can occur. Disaster could strike anyplace along the entire pipeline. I sit and watch how petroleum companies feed the ever increasing demand on oils while little is being done to end its use all together. It is a self feeding cycle that needs to be broken once and for all. Line 5 is only one pipeline. They are all over the Midwest. Politicians keep letting these lines be built across communities and tribal lands which like my fellow native Americans, I vehemently oppose. Why are these companies immune to state governments who want it to stop. Why hasn’t Line 5 been shutdown. It seems contradictory the we can legislate the lifetime operation of nuclear power plants; but, not big oil. It really sickens me to see the damage caused, especially in 2010. I doubt that the people forced to leave because of the Line 6b were not only compensated for their loss, but the pain and suffering and what was done to the petroleum company?
It's not a matter of if, it's when. They won't do anything unless forced. They can easily afford to replace it, they just don't want to affect their profits. All environmental disasters result in no criminal charges, there's no incentive to fix it until it breaks.
Oh you mean the same pipeline that Enbridge has been trying to replace for years, but the government has repeatedly said no to? And have pushed the project out for years
Let him shut that pipe off. Cut your gas off. And let's see how much you complain then. It's needed to keep your cities running. Do it on solar and see how well your city does....thats what I thought. Shut it
If it ever messes up all individuals in charge shouldn't hesitate to already be prepared to give all over your life savings to the people that's affected spending top dollar to hospitalized repair all properties boat's car's sentimental values, animal care medications billions of dollars if any kind of death happens If this can't be done ASAP shut it down it will take years for mother nature to heal but for anything that breathes should be handled ASAP no questions asked no one should be left in the heat the cold homeless carless or lose an animal or love one
That’s not an issue and is hyped up due to Hollywoods dramatization of Chernobyl. Nuclear is actually incredibly eco friendly, the trade off is nuclear waste. Plus our technology is so much more advanced than it was 40 years ago. We should actually invest more into that type of energy.

This is one of the most biased scare tactic story I have seen in a long time
What a scare tactic story.
Shut all pipelines down now.Dont allow them to reopen until new ones are installed .

At some point the line will need to be changed. This is a disaster waiting to happen.
why the scary music in the beginning
Nice try but you missed half of the pipeline. What about the rest of the thumb you only started at Linwood?
Shut it down. I am happy with higher oil and gas prices.
Then allow the improved tunnel to be built. Stop dragging your feet and stalling. Karen is turning into a dramatic eco warrior than a reporter.

Then there is the Nuclear power plants sitting on the shore lines

Shut it down
Get ready for something to happen folks.
