I think many muslims don't realize the gift you have in sheikh Hamza. I would be thrilled to claim him if he was Catholic. Thank God for his zeal and clarity.
When Muslims slander him or try and unofficially excommunicate him over a small disagreement, I always shed a tear for their ignorance and stupidity. Please watch his lectures. This man has the Wisodm AND Intelligence of hundreds of Men. Also look up "Jeffrey Lang Purpose of Life" and his "Quran an Atheists Perspective" for an intro into Islam. May God guide us All.

As a Muslim, I believe he’s this way bc he’s a convert and the best of our ummah are the converts and he’s one of a kind. All the Muslims that I’ve personally met who were prior Christians are by far the best human beings I’ve come across.

Someone rules over you, you don't like or trust them so you just roll over and act like he doesn't exist? NO! You should try to influence the situation by speaking the truth to that person with sincerity and piety. Even if it gets you killed or ostracized.

This is a pretty fallacious argument. People aren’t mad that he went to talk with Bush. They’re mad that he joined a committee that in the end did nothing but suggest the operation name of “Infinite Justice” was blasphemous as on Allah is infinite. No other progress of preventing millions of Iraqis was made.
People don’t even suggest that Sheikh Hamza Yusuf is even responsible for any blood shed. He is free from that.
They are making the claim that he cosies up to regime under the guise of “dialog” and “consultations”.

@@oceanflyer7078 I used to be a big fan of Shaikh Hamza at one point. I still admire him but in Islam, we have to always be careful when we taking information from anyone. We need first evaluate if their akida is 100% from Quran and authentic hadith and they strive to understand our deen they way the Shaba (followers) understood during his time. Our imam (hafiz) who is in the USA an Arabic and an English speaker said there are some Muslims speaker out there are very good at speaking and articulating and reciting Quran etc but there are flaws in their akida. Their understanding might not always be 100% authentic. There is a hadith that says Muslim Umma will be divided into 73 sects but only one will be in the ultimate truth. One question we all Muslims must ask ourselves is the speaker we admire or getting our information from is really on the ultimate truth? Where did s/he got his/her Islamic education? May Allah guide us all to the right understanding of our deen and give us all the highest paradise. Peace

A few years after the war began when the anti muslim sentiment became widespread and affected them in the West those muslims finally understood how much of the media is just propaganda/programming so that no one asks questions and that is how truth gets covered up.

@@labessss the west never had the the plot. Even the last just war they were involved in WW2 had it's huge shady sides. Nevermind the Vietnam a d Korean wars...and the many other that followed.
They were desperate, the Kurds and Shiaa, so what do you expect? They would be crushed regardless of who ruled them but at least the west pretends to care and use 'softer' forms of oppression on those they rule, slightly preferable to the brute physical torture they'd be subjected to under say the Russians, Chinese or Arabs. Why do you think the west gets away with so much? Same evil, but they're more sophisticated. Humans can withstand all kinds of horrible things when you give them hope, and the west does this rather well. They sell the American dream ffs and it works. So if you were a Kurd or Shiaa Iraqi, the west is the lesser of two evils, you would be subordinated and oppressed either way, but better to go it without torture and death, just a slow, miserable existence.
I'm a product of that war. I'm talking from experience. I was a child but I remember very clearly a lot of it and saw the consequences it had on people, to this day. Its a perverse situation to be a Shi'aa from the south (marshes) ( and I'm not Kurdish and can't speak for them) and to have to ask the US for help. It says a lot. Looking back though, I see how they also fell for the propaganda. The US was encouraging them to overthrow Saddam and gave the impression the would assist, actually, outright promised support and failed to deliver. The consequences were BRUTAL and absolutely horrific. In fact, many of us from that time have arrhythmia as a result (among many other issues as you can imagine).
Back to my point though, my peoples education was conservative and they were not 'sophisticated' about the world, hence genuinely thinking they can perhaps agree to disagree and work with the Americans, I don't know but that could've influenced that decision too. I think the (Pan) Arabs were less naive. So if the Shiaa were less naive then they could've supported Saddam, but they chose Iran and the US. I'm still trying to work out how and why.
Prophet Mohammad (may the blessing and the salutation of peace continue to shadow over him and over his honorable House) says that which is closely translated and means:
“IF THE INHABITANTS OF HEAVENS AND THE INHABITANTS OF EARTH ALLIED IN SHEDDING A BLOOD OF A BELIEVER, ALLAH WOULD HAVE SURELY THROWN THEM [all] IN THE FIRE [of Hell].” [At-Termithi]

I listen Hamza Yusuf as an intectual who has been exposed to two different cultures I want to learn to how to make easy links between Western/Christian cultures and Muslim cultures that’s all. He doesn’t stand for Muslim interests rather he stands for Western and government interests. He teaches Muslims how to be submissive and not resist the Western domination even though the aggressors and predictors are the Western imperialists. He gaslights the Western aggression victims and never says to the West you are the problem and you need to stop aggressing against Muslims never!

I respect him as scholar, but his opinion on politic can be argued. He missed the context of the political structure in the modern world. His reference to all the hadiths could be applied in absolute monarch ie Brunei, Saudi, Qatar, etc. In democracy, it is the duty of citizen to ask, to debate with the ELECTED LEADERS. Yes, he said he advised Bush, but it is as if he did that just to wash hand, just do it so that when people ask, “I already did my job, give advice.” Throughout history we can see a lot of scholar and leaders really go against cruel, corrupt leaders and some did pay a huge consequence...if his argument is right, then there is no such thing as martyr....because everyone just play safe....advise...then go home and pray, sleep....
