Willie is a real country legend who has been singing & writing songs for over 7 decades. In the 50's he wrote a lot of hit songs for other artists such as "Funny How Time Slips Away", "Hello Walls", "Pretty Paper" & "Crazy". Some of his hit songs are "Blue Skies", "On the Road Again", "To All The Girls I've Loved Before", "Pancho & Lefty", "Good Hearted Woman", "Remember Me", If You've Got The Money I've Got the Time", "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain" etc. Willie was also part of the Highwaymen along with Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson & Johnny Cash.
Willie is a powerhouse. His songwriting is so fantastic and he has written many songs recorded by others. He is in his 90s now and still performing at such a high standard. He is a national treasure. Thanks for the great reaction. 👏👏🥰
The lady on the piano is Willie's sister, Bobbie. She passed away in 2022 at the age of 91. Will will be 91 on April 29, 2024. He has a unique cadence to his singing. Check out Willie's version of "Don't Let The Old Man In", "Old Friends" a duo with Roger Miller, "Ride Me Back Home". His great duet with Ray Charles "Seven Spanish Angels" and "The Last Cowboy Song". Willie is a great guitarist. This song was written by Wayne Carson, Johnny Christopher, and Mark James.
Willie Nelson has a HUGE catalog of songs, to list the ones you should listen to would take more time and space than I have here. Just do a search for Willie Nelson songs and pick out one that sounds interesting to you.
Willie is the best. He is one of my top 5 favorite male vocalists since the early 70s. Top notch writer. If you have not watched a youtube piece on Trigger, (the name of his guitar). Listen to Angel Flying too Close to the Ground and he and Ray Charles singing 7 Spanish Angels.
Willie Nelson is the Prince of Austin, Texas. A good-hearted marijuana-smoking, gay folks-loving, farmer helping good ol' boy. His renditions of many songs are classics: Georgia Om My Mind, Stardust, Crazy, On the Road Again, Mommas Don't Let Your Sons Grow Up to Be Cowboys, Luckenbach Texas, etc.
I had the privilege of watching Willie Nelson in concert at the Covelli Center in Youngstown, Ohio in 2009. Two local radio hosts of a Blues radio program introduced him to the audience. This must have inspired him that night. Nelson played all of his hit songs, but he also sang and played guitar solos on several Blues songs as well. He had his acoustic guitar electrified by hooking up a microphone on the bottom of it, and was connected to the arena’s state-of-the-art stereo sound system. Nelson played some blistering guitar solos on his electrified acoustic guitar (yes, the same guitar that you saw in the TV performance here). He made that instrumental growl like a grizzly bear!!! I never imagined that Willie Nelson could play a guitar that amazingly good. It is no surprise to me, based on his concert performances, why Willie Nelson was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
I have this CD with this song on it and it also has angels flying too close to the ground... Pancho and lefty... Nothing I can do about it now... On the road again.... But I think my favorite is Nothing I can do about it now because it kind of relates to everyone's life.
I've never been much of a country music fan but Willie is an exception to me. He sings and plays with depth and compassion and his music has a deep message.
He is a song writer. He has even written songs for other artists. Check out Patsy Kline's "Crazy", Furlong Young's "Hello Walls", George Jones' "Yesterday's Wine" and Whalen Jennings' " Good Hearted Woman". All written by Willie. Then go back and check out more of his own recordings. He is a lifelong legend in Country Music
It excites me to be able to listen to someone else gush about Willie and Trigger (his guitar) Another good one would be Crazy or maybe Angel Flying to Close to the Ground. Anything by Willie will be wonderful!! ❤
Michael, please react to Elvis singing "Funny how time slips away". Willie Nelson wrote this song but Elvis blew it out of the park! Phenomenal rendition.
Hello young one, I see your signature Hellman's jar behind you lol. Willie Nelson was known as one of the Outlaws, he actually did a lot for farmers with his Farm Aid concerts, even though he himself had trouble with the IRS, he understood the importance of how much we need farmers. He was part of the Highwaymen with Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson. He played himself on the cartoon King of the Hill, so did Randy Travis and Tom Petty, Tom played a character called Lucky, he was married to Hank's niece Luanne. Love, Granny (not Michael's real granny)
This song was written by Christopher, James and Carson in 1970 and was first released by Branda Lee in 1972. Elvis did a cover of it, so did Willie Nelson and - later - the Pet Shop Boys. Fun-fact: David Hasselhoff did also a cover! :)
Willie is 90, still touring & has a new album coming out next month. Famous for being able to out-smoke Snoop Dog. LOL My favorite by him is 'Angel flying too close to the ground'. ''On the road again' is a spunkier huge hit for him too. I also love the song/video he did with Toby Keith called 'Beer for my horses'. Fabulous video for it. Willie is a legend & was also in a great group called 'The Highwaymen' comprised of Willie, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings & Kris Kristofferson. All legends & they often played shows together singing their own songs & each other's, as well. They had a cool song/video called 'The Highwayman' (not men).
I know he did a collaboration with Ray Charles... This might have been the song that they sang together.... The title of cd or album however you want to put it... Is Ray Charles and friends.... If you ever find it pick it up it is one of the best. C d's I have ever listened to
Late last year my niece and her boyfriend went to see Willie Nelson when he was here in The area... She wanted me to go with her and she had the tickets they were not inexpensive for her I don't know how she got them but she got some good tickets... Anyway I had to be at work too early the next morning so I could not go... But I now wish I had called in and told him I was not going to be there and went anyway.
Love the Music Video of Elvis Presley singing this to, his wife Priscilla ♥️, I just saw WILLIE NELSON, on Saturday night April 20 th. Was invited, bought me a T-Shirt…Willie has been around for decades.👍
Anything by Willie is great, one of my favorites is Angels flying to close to the ground, also the only person to out smoke Snoop Dogg, great reaction.
Willie is always laid-back. It's because of the weed. You should watch I'll Never Smoke Weed With Willie Again by Toby Keith. Love Willie, though. His voice is what the Angels will sound like when you get to Heaven.
Willie still has a ranch in Texas, and is a Texas treasure. Prolific song writer, smokes weed still, beloved by Country industry. So much history he has lived. yeah I am a huge fan.
He started out singing rock and roll, but his career wasn't going anywhere, so he went country. The rest is History. And at 90 years old, he is still doing concerts and singing. God Bless him, he's one of the greats.
This was many years ago. Take a deep dive listening to him on your own (not reacting) He named his guitar Trigger. He still plays the same guitar, man it's scap wood today. But, he's had so many hit songs I'm surprized when others haven't heard of him. PS he wrote "Crazy" for Patsy Cllne way back in 1961. Today he's 90 years old and still touring. PS his sons sound identical to him, it's uncanny.
Have to listen to On the Road Again. Side note if you went to his trailer on the road you would get a contact high on weed he is a great weed protector
Willie was born April 29, 1933. In 15 days from now (as I'm writing this), he will turn 91. He won the GRAMMY for Best Country Album for 'A Beautiful Time' at the 2023 GRAMMYs. He was up for another Best Country Album GRAMMY in the February 2024 contest (with his "Bluegrass" album), but he didn't win. In 1982, Willie won a GRAMMY for his version of THIS song. It was written by Wayne Carson, Johnny Christopher, and Mark James. Then it was released by Gwen McCrae (as "You Were Always on My Mind") in March 1972. Brenda Lee's version was released three months later, in June 1972. The song is generally considered a "crossover," because it has charted in both "country & western" and "pop" categories. Elvis Presley's recording was the first commercially successful version of the song. I've loved Willie's music since I was little (I was born in 1949). Thanks for your beautiful reaction. 😀
Watch his amazing guitar work and his songwriting peers sitting in awe as he performs Funny How Time Slips Away (perhaps his best for this song) live: ua-cam.com/video/iZaZqx9v3dU/v-deo.html
I like that he's paying attention to what's happening politically and appreciate when he reacts to current events. It's not nonsense. I enjoy the music reactions, too, though.
Willie has this unique talent. His voice, let's be honest, isn't that great. Its gravelly and rough, but I have yet to hear him sing a song that you couldn't just feel the emotion of the song, no matter the song, no matter the emotion, he feels the song and it come out that way. I love listening to Willie Nelson sing.

Willy's been singing for so meny decades that he doesnt hsve to be over the top because he knows how to be the best with ease. Like watching a master archer barely work even though you know it takes massive strength to pull back that bow
Hos wikipedia entry for rhe songs hes wtiteen is listen with separate subtabs by alphabet, because hes written so many, just a simply list would heve been too difficult to navigate.
Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain. Ya gotta hear it.

His guitar’s name is “Trigger”,
That is Willie Nelson’s sister at the piano wearing a hat.

When Bobbie died...well, you know. She was kind of the heart of the band for decades.
He made a really fun video with the late Toby Keith called Whiskey For Men And Beer For My Horses. It's like a mini police show.
Don't miss it.
Willie Nelson has a HUGE catalog of songs, to list the ones you should listen to would take more time and space than I have here. Just do a search for Willie Nelson songs and pick out one that sounds interesting to you.

Love Willie

Willie has so many great songs that it's hard to choose, but you really should hear Blue Eyes Cryin' In The Rain
Have to check out him singing with Ray Charles “seven Spanish Angeles”.
I've never been much of a country music fan but Willie is an exception to me. He sings and plays with depth and compassion and his music has a deep message.

SEVEN SPANISH ANGELS WAS ALSO AWESOME 👌
Yes! A beautiful duet with the late, great, Ray Charles.

For unknown reason, I never cared for Willie Nelson until about 5, 6 years ago. Now im a fan for sure.
W8llie Nelson and Dolly Parton are the heart and soul of country music. Both solid gold.
Willie still has a ranch in Texas, and is a Texas treasure. Prolific song writer, smokes weed still, beloved by Country industry. So much history he has lived. yeah I am a huge fan.

This is the greatest song written about regret in my opinion.
Pancho and Lefty is a really good one by Willie and Merle Haggard.

If you want a real treat watch " never get stoned with Willie again" his span is fantastic
That is Willie's sister playing the piano
Willie is a TX legend. Jazz phrasing to country music. He’s awesome!
Who is he???! Why, the Red Headed Stranger, of course!😂
Have to listen to On the Road Again. Side note if you went to his trailer on the road you would get a contact high on weed he is a great weed protector
First time hearing Willie Nelson? Has this guy lived under a rock all of his life?
The piano player is Willie's sister Bobbie...she passed a few years ago.
This is only half the song, though. You might like to listen to the studio version. 😊
Willie was born April 29, 1933. In 15 days from now (as I'm writing this), he will turn 91. He won the GRAMMY for Best Country Album for 'A Beautiful Time' at the 2023 GRAMMYs. Beautiful. SO happy my 16 yo daughter will get to see him live next month
I got to see Willie in concert and had backstage passes. Great concert.
Willie Nelson wrote Crazy sung by Patsy Cline. Hugh hit.
I'm loving your reactions and comments to Willie Nelson singing ( You Were Always on My Mind)!!
His sister Bobby plays the piano. She has retired. You need to watch Willie and Julio Iglesias do a duet.
I have been to a lot of Willie concerts and back in the day he did two hours straight. He can’t do that but the concerts are still worth it.
glad you liked it!
First song I ever heard Willie sing was "Kissin & Pissin out behind the Barn" on an afternoon country music TV show about '64 !
Wild had such a unique voice and so many great songs❤❤❤
He's a legend!
First concert I ever seen love willie ❤️
He is our Texas treasure.
Such a soothing voice and song..
One of the favourites of my mom🎶🎤💜
He's 89 yrs old, i think. I am old, and it's awesome that you're learning ❤
Is one of my favorite artists his son is following in his goot steps!
The "guy" playing the piano wearing a hat was Willie's sister, who recently passed. I don't think he's playing trigger. Only one hole.
Please react to Elvis singing this song live. It really is on another level. Thank you Michael.
Oh yeah he is laid back. As soft as a "puff of smoke".
Brother that is his sister 😂 0:17
"Whiskey River" is Willie Nelson's panacea blitzkrieg.

Elvis Presley and Brenda Lee each covered this song in 1972, ten years before Willie Nelson. All good, but different styles!
That is sister Bobbie on the piano
How does someone not know willie,am soooo old😂
I'm loving your channel, and I only just found it yesterday! But please.. I gotta know.. what's up with the mayonnaise behind you on the couch!!??
I have no idea what you’re talking about 😅
@@michaelwduffyyou should react to Toby Keith's I'll Never Smoke Weed With Willie Again. It's great.
😂😂😂
Seriously, Dude ? A music reviewer who doesn't know who Willie Nelson is ? God give me strength !!
That’s Willie’s sister on piano
Spend less time on political nonsense and pay attention to people like Willie. He is one of the greats. Explore and learn and enjoy.
I like that he's paying attention to what's happening politically and appreciate when he reacts to current events. It's not nonsense. I enjoy the music reactions, too, though.
Elvis does an amazing version of this song. I’d be interested in your comparison of the two.
That's his sister on the piano. She passed away not to long ago.
You should hear Eivis,s version of this song!
The one on the piano is actually his sister you died last year I believe. She has been there with him I think since the beginning or close to it.
...and now his guitar, Trigger, is a tattered mess...and worth millions...
Watxh brooks dunn,i believe!
Looking at the 2 of you, you could be his son, y’all look a lot like relatives
Try the Pet Shop Boys version
Willie has this unique talent. His voice, let's be honest, isn't that great.
