Just installed mine today on my LR4, those cap bolts are T30 torx. I just let my panel hang from the top clips to access the 10mm nuts... then lost a nut into the hatch, had to fish it out with a magnet. Easy vid to follow, thanks.

I just love the best use of space in the Discovery. So much room. Well thought out. My 5th Gen 4Runner was great...but I love everything about the Rover.

I think this is a better ladder than than the one the goes on the passenger side that’s available. I have that one and there’s no way to really secure it. Mines fell off two or three times from use. This one bolts on securely and frees up vision better, as you turn around to back up it’s directly behind you.

I agree 100%. I like the look of this one as well.

Did you have any gap on the bottom side between the handle housing and the tailgate? I have seen other videos that do and mine does but can’t tell with yours. I sealed my with a little butyl tape, but wonder if a gap on the bottom is good to let any water out that gets in from up top? What are your thoughts? Is yours still keeping water out nice with just the foam?

So far so good. Looking back I would prob add some thicker foam and some silicone...but no leaks to date. I do have the gap between the ladder foot plate and the gate. Looks like an area suseptable for water to get in, but none so far.

Awesome! Also, who makes your mud flaps? Thanks.

Thanks. Got the flaps off of ebay. Just generic plastic flaps.

How's the weather sealing holding up? Thanks for the step by step!

Still holding up good with no leaks! If I had to do it again, I'd probably add an extra layer of seal or add a bit of silicone just for good measure.

thanks for doing that, looking at this roof rack and ladder too. Nice n sturdy when you're getting up there? Also, weird question - how much height do it add to on the roof (the rack)? I've got quite a low garage

Its a Frontrunner Slimline II. I'd say it adds an inch or two above the stock roof bars. I'll have to measure.

This ladder looks better and easier to install than the damn factory one... Do you have more content of the LR3?

You went from a 2011 4Runner to the '06 LR3? I'm considering moving from an '06 GX470 that has 175K miles to an '05 LR3, original owner, that has 105K. Thoughts?
    Any regrets?

No regrets. I bought mine from a friend. After riding in it and realizing how superior it was to my 2011 4Runner (even though it was 5 years older than the 4Runner), I fell in love. Love to easily adjust the ride height with software. 360 visability is amazing. I'm 6'4 so it has a ton of head room even in the 3rd row. Seats not only fold down by grabbing one lever on the top of the seat with one hand...but they also can be pushed flat into the floor making a giant cargo area that you can comfortably sleep in. Heck even the windshield wipers go back to resting position if you turn off the car mid wipe. You can also turn the ignition on as you are driving and it will reset all electronics/etc. Its well worth it in my opinion.
