As a kid in the late 70s I saw motocross races with mystical names like Maico's, and CCM's, And remember the sounds and smells fondly, this was a real trip back in time for me, many thanks again!
I raced 250 expert class in mid 70’s through 1982 and a buddy of mine bought the 1981 Maico…looked just
like that. It was the meanest, gnarliest, scariest dirt bike I had ever ridden and wish I would have purchased myself one.
Well spotted . . . that was actually put in as a test to make sure my You Tuber's know their 125's from their 250's and you have passed with flying colours . . well done!
Right out of the gate the 81 Maico 490, think I wet myself. Listen to that wonderful hollow ping of that big ass 2 stroke. What an awesome, awesome bike. Kudos to the CZ and Husky 430.

Keith Sage Hi Keith that #86 machine is Rod Spry’s 580 CCM which is based around the original B50 BSA engine which Rod has upgraded. Rod is also one of the UK’s top classic bike builder and restorers.

Thought they were evil handling and always broken. Friends love them but I thought they just didn't know any better. One of them still has their old Maico. SMART MAN!
