While you’re taking the driving test (road/highway) you must obey these rules. •Make stop completely to all entrences to roads including yeld signs. •Must obey “on&exit” ramp posted speed limits and signs •Must safely stop at stop lights. If light turns yellow before truck crosses white paint stop lane, then you have run a red light. •No right turns on red light •Watch for double turn lane > go to propper lane. •Must maintain the flow of the traffic, and get up to speed as to not impede traffic. VERY IMPORTANT!!!! Must stay within 5mph of speed limit always when safe to do so. • Must look door mirrors every 5-8 seconds. • left turn one lane into 2 lanes - Do not enter into the right lane. Make the turn from the designated lane(use left lane) Right turn one lane into 2 lanes - do not enter into the left lane. This rule it’s considered illegal in some states and it only applies for class A drivers but you still got to change the lane asap after the turn.
Most instructors aren't that strict when you do your test, basically check your fluids, tires, mirrors and look for puddles and continue walking around your truck then get in your truck and drive around, usually 5min, just so they know you can handle the truck and are safe. Not too stressful...
Hello does anybody gets anxiety attacks while driving??? If so please let me know how you manage to handle them and keep on trucking! Thanks in advance
Hello everyone! I am a Videographer. This was a project i was working on a few years ago. I don't know anything about trucking! I was just hoping this would help others as the guy in the video is very knowledgeable o this subject. I am sure there are others out there who are just as or more knowledgeable on this subject as well! please if you are one of those, help the public by commenting and pointing out the rights and wrongs! Thanks everyone! I keep getting feedback that this has helped lots of people so keep it up!
1986 it was so much simpler to get a class B in AZ I trained through the bus school systems and just had to prove I could do the safety inspection of the vehicle.
Who made these rules? I just want to be a bus driver, in L.A I've seen bus drivers hit hanging tree branches, park in red zones, side swipe poles, parked cars, drive over curbs, 2lane switch in front of other cars and this asshole wants to make sure you know what a U bolt is. What's next build a bus out of Noah's ark?
+Loops P If you cant see it you still have to tell them its there.. This is why you do your walk around the rig the same way, not missing something and saying... Its there and you cant see it. or its under there but there is a cover over it. I was hit with a cover over my gas tank, I forgot to say the straps, but did say the cover is there and we cant see that under the safety cover. I was marked a point or that.
great video it may seem like a bunch of work but after a few of them u do all of this naturally also remember if u skip the pre trip inspection and something happens you are solely liable even if u don't own the truck you don't want to hurt or kill someone over a few minutes of your time once u get in the seat it's on you and 1 bad accident can ruin your career
I went to a 2 week CDL. I had 2hours of driving, my inspection exam I was able to passed bc my instructor was at the DMV so we didn’t had any instructors. I recommend everyone to look into 3-4month CDL school before signing for short courses. After $1500 you’d end up with a paper script n nothing else.
He does mention tire pressure as inflation to 95 lbs. *3:55. You do not get to have a cheat sheet with you during your inspection. Make sure to view your inspection list in your book, instructor or internet.
I'd like to see you go to work in the morning and do this inspection test before you start your job and then you tell me what your boss tells you. Funny how they want you to take this inspection test but when it's time to go to work all this goes out the window.
Your boss be like dude lay off the drugs and get to work 🤣 oh and he forget to check and see if the trasmission pan bolts were at the right specifications on tightness lol
The thing that really sucks about this test is that it is verbal only. You don't get a check off list, you have to remember everything and go through it pointing where you are talking about. This is bull shit because no body really does this everytime they drive out in the real wolrd,
how come i never see anyone check tire pressure with a guage ? the bus driver does this evertime he starts the bus or just in the morning or once a week or just for the test and his lic.
i drive a 19ft flatbed KW with a forklift on the rear, its classified as a class c and ive been driving it for 4 years. i dont have to do any of this. however we also have a 23ft flatbed KW tandem that is the exact same in every way except that it is a tandem. it is classified as a class b. my boss wants me to get my class b so we can fire our current class b driver, but this looks like a pain in the ass...
This is for Class B with passenger endorsement. I know because I drive stretch limousines and this is the test required for me to carry more than 9 passengers.
I love this video just for the fact that i have a white color of this exact bus 22 passenger Chevrolet C4500 duramax 6.6 litre turbo diesel which is much better, smoother and very powerful compare to the Ford shuttle bus
I had failed my first pre trip and the sac Dmv guy was so cool and showed a 15 min inspection to pass next time, so I learned his way just to go to the next appointment with a diff tester from the same Dmv and she told me that was wrong and failed me, pissed me off. I have one more attempt left and if I fail I have to start from scratch.
The joker, go drive a school bus like I do, you'll get a class b cdl that way, or dump truck, transit bus, motorcoach, single unit flatbed (Not a trailer), etc... many jobs will get you that license, but buses give you that free training, none others I've seen will.
+Loops P you can have a class b and haul anything more then 26000 as long as it's not a trailer behind you anything with a trailer is class a. I'm obtaining a class b to drive a mixer that weighs 72000 fully loaded but maybe the rules differ from state to state

i went through class A school. i failed the maneuvers test at the dds, but that was because we were using a longer tractor than we were practicing with. is there any difference in the pre trip and airbrakes for a class B?
To pass this test I'll wait until Tesla make an electric truck.... I know wonder what are they going to ask in an electric vehicle that only needs tire change and and brake pads replacement lol

I think a heavy duty diesel technician should be explaining this not this guy 😂

you'd still need to know stuff like brakes, stuff in engine area, etc. though right?
Hello does anybody gets anxiety attacks while driving??? If so please let me know how you manage to handle them and keep on trucking! Thanks in advance
What's the written part
Good question.
Thanks for taking the time and effort to post this! In combination with several other videos I'm watching, this makes a great addition!

4/32 =1/8 🤦♂️
This is wat I wuz thinkin. WTH?????? Who says 4/32 when its very simply stated as 1/eight
so on a trash truck how do you check the brake pads and linings? when you can't see them I fail twice because of it and they don't explain why???
+Terry Johnson They should be telling you why you fail each time. if they dont then ask for a DMV manager to tell you why, its there job.
+Loops P If you cant see it you still have to tell them its there.. This is why you do your walk around the rig the same way, not missing something and saying... Its there and you cant see it. or its under there but there is a cover over it.

Thank you 8 students watched your video at our Limo Shop and all passed the pre-trip!!
Very cool!

You forgot to check the battery man 😂
I think ALL drivers should check the tires and so forth and let the company know to pass inspections and to prevent accidents.
So are we testing to be a mechanic? Like what the fuck...
If u are going drive class a or b u must know some basics on ur rig.
Is the Class B license necessary for a 27 ft bobtail penske truck, with air brakes?
I went to a 2 week CDL. I had 2hours of driving, my inspection exam I was able to passed bc my instructor was at the DMV so we didn’t had any instructors. Antonio Z. Going into a 10 class 5 weekend class b course are you suggesting its not a good idea I dropped 2k for the class?
One thing you forgot to mention is to check the shocks for any fluid leaks.
Does anyone know if this Pre-trip inspection in video is similar or same for Class C Passenger?? Thanks!
There is no road test for a class C license, so no pre trip. Just gotta pass the written exams.
so how exactly would you check the interior wall of the inner duelie completely?
So nervous to even try hated school that's why I'm in my situation lol

I do a thorough inspection of my dump truck at least once a week. Your truck and boss will thank you.

@@rrb396 But do you do it before every trip like you are supposed too?? lol
Your boss be like dude lay off the drugs and get to work 🤣 oh and he forget to check and see if the trasmission pan bolts were at the right specifications on tightness lol
can i bring a checklist of my own? to the test?
Exhaust manifold? Fan. Sorry none of this is in state test
You will need to bring your own vehicle or borrow from your company, friend, etc...
good to know thnaks for the info brian ferrini :)
borrowing from company requires someone from the job to escort me there in the vehicle, yes?
+Brian Ferrini (BCFfilms) There are some rental places that let you rent one for the time of your test to do the driver part. we have one here in Cali
is it true that you need to form an LLC if you're in California and get a class B?
I am sorry but I wish my test was inspected by this guy and his company.
Hi , does anybody knows if you really do have to open the hood for a class b bus passenger endors. must schools here in nyc say you dont have to ...
jowy landd no you don't,but you will have to ponit where the part would be located
Thank you so much Brian for the info....I didn't know I needed to know so many stuff in order to drive one of those...
This looks more like a 6 month maintainace inspection.

Which class do i need to drive commercial 18 wheeler a or c
King Jay Class A
Yes. most Likely highway patrol or state troopers or dmv. You must be able to recognize each part.
i drive a 19ft flatbed KW with a forklift on the rear, its classified as a class c and ive been driving it for 4 years. i dont have to do any of this. however we also have a 23ft flatbed KW tandem that is the exact same in every way except that it is a tandem. it is classified as a class b. my boss wants me to get my class b so we can fire our current class b driver, but this looks like a pain in the ass...
4/32 is 2/16 and that is 1/8th kind of weird
How do you know that?
First time doing an inspection and trying to be an instructor at the same time?
Those lug nuts are for looks only those are not the lug nuts that hold the wheel on that's pretty funny
does anyone know if the DMV allows you take a Penske truck to the class b test with air brakes?
I was told yes double check never hurts
You must inspect the basics on whatever vehicle you were driving so yes it could be different depending on your vehicle
U can bring notes???
a few thousand dollars in dot tickets will change how detailed you do your pre trip
Do I have to know all the car parts or will the DMV instructor will be checking this?
This is for Class B with passenger endorsement. I know because I drive stretch limousines and this is the test required for me to carry more than 9 passengers.
If you have a drum you don’t have a rotor
will you able to have a checklist at the test?
Is the class B test the same as for class A? i FIND THE CLASS A test intence but through
Where do you get a copy of the items that are looked for. Most likely a DMV/DOT list
I love this video just for the fact that i have a white color of this exact bus 22 passenger Chevrolet C4500 duramax 6.6 litre turbo diesel which is much better, smoother and very powerful compare to the Ford shuttle bus
Where do you get the check list
Anyone know how up to date this video is?
those arent lug nuts theyre just a cover for the actual lug nut
I hope to get a class B license ,just a little nervous ,not extremely good at test taking , gotta better myself tough & do it .
Did you ever get it ?
Yo???
In a NYS CDL Roadtest you dont have to check under the hood.
you got to be a darn mechanic to pass the class b test?
Lol just have to be able to do a pre trip safety inspect. Its the last line of defense
Can i just pay someone for a class b license.
I here ya brother

I thought the test was going to be you driving, like the operator’s license, not all of this!
yes you have to do this and remember everything to pass your license.
+Brian Ferrini (BCFfilms) They will let you use the pre~check list and nothing more. But doing this they will want you to know everything.
I would practice before your test. That way you know what to look for.
Great video! I can't wait to get my b license.
Did you ever get your class b?
make sure to check out part 2
How long would a post-trip inspection take from driving into the parking lot to punching out for the shift?

I did not pass two times already, damm it
+Gio Brembi The best thing is always do it the same way every time and ask a friend to help.
