I was able to understand the air brakes better by your video example. I passed my air brakes test today. Got my permit and did a career change! Looking forward to practicing and getting my full license because of this great video! thank you!
That’s it super awesome! Congrats! Thank you for your time in watching my video. I Wish you nothing but the best and success. :)
Thanks for taking the time and doing this video. Step by step with everything. Much respect to you.
Best video yet! I needed a refresher, due to being off work because of covid. This helped me remember everything that I've learned but felt I'd forgotten.
Thank you!
DONE PERFECTLY. Just had class today. You did it exactly how my instructor did earlier today. Was looking for videos to study. PERFECT. Downloaded and subscribed. Gonna use this to study for my test. Thank you Brother.
Thanks bro for your help. Happy new year! 🙏🏽
Hello there, I see a few people that are wanting to correct me in the video again I was still learning at this stage and had not gone through this the test yet. Yes the psi ranges are a bit off but if you read the handbook it will explain the correct ranges:
Spring Brakes:
Tractor and straight truck spring brakes will come fully on when air pressure drops to a range of 20 to 45 psi (typically 20 to 30 psi)
Light/Buzzer:
The low pressure warning signal (buzzer, light, or flag) will generally activate when the air pressure falls between 55-75 psi, but may activate at a higher pressure (80-85 psi) if specified by the manufacturer.
Static:
Time for one minute. The air pressure should not drop more than:
* 2 psi for single vehicles.
* 3 psi for a combination of 2 vehicles.
* 5 psi for a combination of 3 or more vehicles.
* Important: The maximum air loss rate for a combination of 2 or more vehicles is 2 psi if the towed vehicles are not equipped with air brakes
THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE POSITIVE COMMENTS AND NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS THOUGHT THIS RANDOM VIDEO WOULD HIT 11k VIEWS
I THANK EVERYONE FOR THEIR TIME:)
Thanks brother! I work for DHL (Indy SER) as well, I am currently on the dock, but we are getting ready to move up to full-time. I have my permit and am getting ready to take my cdl test, these have really helped, especially since our new manager is not allowing permit driver to drive the straight trucks for practice. If you have a full pre trip inspection video, that would be awesome! Stay safe out there and thanks again!
Thanks for explaining the 3 points of contact! I haven’t did my test yet but this helps a lot!
I passed my CDL test yesterday. This video was invaluable to me and I really appreciate you posting it!!!

You’re very welcome super happy to have helped people with this video, thank you for your time. And congratulations.

Yes it helps. I drive for performance and they all have automatic trucks. Nobody is teaching me how to do these air break teats in an automatic, which sucks. Thank you.
Nice video man. I'm about to take it in a new international rollback and this is the closest looking cab I've seen. Great job at explaining and showing also. Appreciate it

Gracias! I learned a lot today 😉
During the initial safe start when you check your air gauges in Arizona you have to build your Governor up to cut out and talked about it before you even start your air brake test
I don’t think there’s a specific order, but you’re right it’s recommended for sure.
According to cdl study guide it says 3 psi
Thank you!!! #DHL #TTN
Great guy! so helpful! Thank you!
Rommy Outdoors watched some coaches’ videos. You are better than them. You are genius!
This video is actually really good, just hope you can remake the video and correct the PSI 2 vs 3. Also would help if you would have done an actual service brake test, otherwise you did a great job explaining throughout the video - very clear and explanatory. Thank you
Thank you for your time, I was a complete nub at the time of this recording done freestyle nothing was planned out just took my GoPro and started recording. I’m super grateful to have gotten so much good feed back and never thought I’d get this many views.
@@rommyoutdoors9360 WELL keep on making videos and everyday someone new is watching. Appreciate your time.
Thx man
Great video but I would take chocks from the wheels after the pop out test that way I do the emergency brake and the service break without the chocks
erick dominguez thanks 🙏 the actual test has no order as long at the items and things are mentioned and enough information is said about it .. instructor will check the box ✅
Do I have to do the 2 psi and the 3 psi together or only one?
Thanks for that video,my brother

I have a question regarding the air compressor test. When building the presser back up once it reaches 80 and the 45 sec count start do I still hit the gas to build it to 130 or let it build by itself ? Thank you !
Do the full pre trip inspection next, please. Focus on engine parts.
Very nice but i have a question, at the end why put the truck in gear to check if the brake holds while the wheels are blocked? Wouldn't you take that off first then check if it holds?🤔
Yes you’re right, for the last 2 brake test you would want to removed the chocks.
liked the video bro do you have a pre-trip video ? I work for DHL and no information for the pre-trip on a DHL Straight truck available online
I have all the links on the video, you can print a pre trip check list and watch a better video than mine. Hope this works thank you for your time cheers 🍻
I self thought myself from online UA-cam videos and websites about 3 days then, payed someone to let me borrow their class b tow truck and passed my test with that.
I don't have my CDL but I drove a straight truck all I needed was a DOT card now I am go for my CDL Class B for a automatic truck with the air break because I drove a straight truck for a job before for about 4 months now I am going for my CDL Class B for a automatic truck
Question do you know if there are any CDL training schools around full class B or do I have to get my CDL learner's permit first
when doing applied test when do you give air pressure reading to examiner before you put your foot on the brake or after?
As you press the brake you’ll call out that pressure, as you release the brake you can confirm that you have not lost psi
Rommy Navarro wow i didn’t notice this comment. so sorry about it my dad is sharing an account with me
Your right it is 3psi not 2
Do you get to pic if you want to drive automatic or manual at the dmv ?
Are you in park when checking airbrake psi or neutral whole time
Should be in neutral until you do your last two brake test “parking brake” “service brake”
Forgot to mention if you still have your foot on the service brake before the static test or do you keep it on still?
At 3:43 you do a safe start with your foot on the brakes, at what point do you remove your foot from the service brakes I’m only asking because I’m new to this and I wanna know before I take my test thank you
@@aaronfregoso8845 yeah you can remove your foot from the break after safe start
I’m having trouble with explaining the governor cut in and out, you’re supposed to let the instructor know when it cuts in as well as when it cuts out right?
Yes cut in, is “compression test” to make sure you’re tanks are always getting replaced with air, ...... cut out is knowing your tanks are not overfilled per manufacture suggestion. Typically 130psi max.
@@assmuncher4074 well good luck my friend! Let me know when you pass, you got this!!
Did you have to parallel park or dock park during test?
@@rommyoutdoors9360 thanks! I take test tomorrow.. I’ve watched your video 50 times ...lol
@@1micYT good luck brother you got this! And thanks your your time in watching my video!
Isn’t the static test tested with the key left on the ignition on for one min without pressing in the parking brake? 6:17
All break test should be done with the key in electronics on and engine off. Except for the service breaks test.
Correct, we are looking at our needles and listening for leaks in the tanks and lines. What throws me off is you pressing just the parking brake in.
Parking brake and service brake test are done before test air leaks applied??
To be honest I’m not sure there’s a specific order, although I would do static and applied first …. But as long at you check all the boxes on the exam I believe you should be fine
You need to check your heat and defrost with the engine running not off
You might be right, or might be wrong. My instructor passed me. There’s lots of dmv instructors that won’t even let you turn on the truck while doing the In can inspection, so there’s not right or wrong.
Any tips on how I can get a class b truck rented for a dps road test coming up got clp nd dont need further training

@@rommyoutdoors9360 thanks for posting this video. . Really help me out.
For a B class for static air break leakage test is 2 psi with in 1 min I thought it was 3
Test Air Leakage Rate
There are 3 tests as follows:
Static Leakage Test
With a basically fully-charged air system (within the effective operating range for the compressor), turn off the engine, release all brakes, and let the system settle (air gauge needle stops moving). Time for 1 minute. The air pressure should not drop more than:
• 2 psi for single vehicles.
• 3 psi for a combination of 2 vehicles.
• 5 psi for a combination of 3 or more vehicles.
Important: The maximum air loss rate for a com- bination of 2 or more vehicles is 2 psi if the towed vehicles are not equipped with air brakes.
An air loss greater than those listed above, indicate a problem in the braking system and repairs are needed before operating the vehicle.

Can you test on a automatic truck for cdl b ??
@@rommyoutdoors9360 do you have to test on a standard transmission or can you test with a automatic transmission when you do the driving test
@@Javier-5150 you test on what ever you want to get certified in. I tested in a automatic so I can only drive auto, if you test in manual you can drive both.

You forgot to mention the abs light going on and off
Actually……. If you pay attention. @2:20 i do mention it, not verbally but if you can read then I cover that part. 😉 thanks
Looks like you forgot to test the first part of the brake test going down to 90 psi before you shut the truck off making sure they truck is building up air properly.
Whats up my guy, there’s actually no specific order to do this in cab test, and it’s called a compression test if you look again at 8:58.
@@rommyoutdoors9360 the instructor here in Indiana wouldn't let me proceed until I did that part actually and it failed me.
@@austinrunion463 sorry to hear that, maybe Indiana has strict instructors, i passed perfectly in California with a cool younger instructor.

10:42 confused ,,, why is so important to face the vehicle when exit
dfy goh it’s all for safety reasons.. if you get a strict instructor they will automatic fail you. Besides its good practice and etiquette
@@rommyoutdoors9360 i understand for safety reason ,,, is it because you may forget to break on and truck may roll
dfy goh no that should never happen.... it’s more common sense .. imagine you climb a latter onto a roof..? You wouldn’t climb back down it facing outward.
Did I miss the “Cut in”???
Sorry, I’m a school bus driver and we have to do a cut-in and cut-out air governor test, we use the cut in term when the air governor starts building up air, it has to activate at no less than 85psi. I got a test for a non-school bus vehicle next week and they want us to lean the COLA method which is completely different.
@@mr.gonzalez1991 yes Bus psi ranges are different than straight truck, but all in all same process.
