What a nightmare. A van smashed into a bus on Burton Road outside Crust Cob due to the new road layout. It was 1 way so you looked left now it's left and right. No signs at all.
This is a fresh scandal. Peoples homes are falling into despair and people are struggling to eat and pay bills, all this from a labour council. When I cycled up and down there Tim, I saw no other bikes.
@@timawells the delivery cyclist are a menace, all riding around on home made electric mountain bikes that zoom around on paths and up and down the moor at far more than 15mph. @@richardburns1287 I nearly had one hit me on High St Richard, I was filming from the central reservation just off the road and off the tram track. What he was doing there is another question?
@timawells they ride anywhere Tim, they congregate in that doorway opposite McDonald's, I've seen their bikes dumped on that central reservation you were stood on. I have to say it, if they were white working class, they would be clamped down on, not turned a blind eye to.
in all my 70 my years i have never seen a project the council was involved that was not a white elephant disaster ,every one failed and demolished and replaced with another carbuncle paid for by taxpayers
The crossings are somewhat necessary as it can be very difficult to cross around there normally. Not an issue now with the Zebra crossings. Personally I would have gone with puffin crossings, but that probably wouldn't work due to the cycle lane. But the big question, which of the three lanes does Banaman use for his mobility scooter? :)
Absolutely correct Tim an absolute shambles of the city now , going back to the 80s when I was a kid It was a beautiful place and you couldn’t get it from the market even to bottom of fargate in a day. It was fantastic - all a world economic forum initiative to get everybody out of the cars and onto cycles. When I go through shalesmoor , I’ve said exactly the same thing there’s about 20 traffic lights in about 100 yards cycle lanes what no one use it it’s an absolute joke.
You said they are going to have green areas where the roundabout is and tanter street ?if it's anything like they have near the courts in terms of height then this will prove to be very dangerous most of all at the crossing points where the public and bike riders go through plus any drivers coming out woll have blocked views ie unable to see what is coming .
I used to work on Queens Street with buses to Campo Lane very straightforward but all this is a horror they are completely mad living in cloud cuckoo land out of touch with reality 😢
I used to go to croft e youth centre to the gym then it got taken over by a operatic society and I also use to clean the windows of the small corner bakery and Weston tower it was so easy to drive and park but typical labour and liberal council anti car and it's just horrible to drive around there and the city centre and how many cyclists do you see and it had a nice atmosphere but now it's just bland
I worked across from there for 15 years Christopher. If I needed to park my car I could park on Hollis croft, then double yellows came in and pushed us further an further over the hill.
When the pandemic was on the f*ckwits in the Town Hall narrowed Shalesmoor down to 1 lane from time to time for cyclists to use the inside lane, bollards everywhere.Result massive traffic tailbacks and zero cyclists.

Hi Tim. Great video as always. But what a mess they have made there with all that. Think it's going to be dangerous really. As you say in the video can be very easily grid locked now round there. Just more money wasted on something that could have beem put to better use in the city.
Hi Simon its making it less safe for road bikers as cars can't pass now they have narrowed the rd. Also the Grey to Green will obstruct views. Best Tim
Het is even wennen. Naar uiteindelijk gaat het echt werken. Maar ik geniet optimaal van zo’n zuur filmpje. Maak er meer van!

As a road bike cyclist i will still use the road as cycle paths are not fit for purpose especially a road bike
