  • How to prevent mosquito bites? In the summer, we all want to spend more time out in the fresh air, take walks in the park, and enjoy the greenery and flowers. But mosquitoes can ruin even the most wonderful vacations. Btw, research has proven that mosquitoes can rapidly learn and remember the smells of hosts, and that’s what makes some people more preferable than others.
Did you know, for example, that mosquitoes just hate the lavender smell? This is an herb that’s super easy to get ahold of. You can also just set small bushels of lavender around your backyard living area. So if you taste especially sweet, here's the list of the recipes for natural fragrances that will scare the mosquitoes away, so you can enjoy the pleasures of summer. Try them instead of reaching for more chemical sprays!
    TIMESTAMPS:
    Citronella 0:34
    Lemongrass 1:01
    Cedar 1:32
    Peppermint 1:55
    Eucalyptus 2:27
    Garlic 2:59
    Lavender 3:29
    Marigolds 3:58
    Basil 4:28
    Catnip 5:00
    Rosemary 5:29
    Neem Oil 6:09
    Sage 6:40
    Floss Flowers 7:02
    Mint 7:35
    #mosquitoes #lifehacks #brightside
    SUMMARY:
    - Citronella is from the lemongrass plant and covers up the smell of carbon dioxide and lactic acid that our bodies give off.
    - Lemongrass is a beautiful ornamental grass that originates from Asia. It works like citronella, but even stronger!
    - This one might come as a surprise - mosquitos hate the smell of cedar!
    - Peppermint is one of the most versatile plants out there. It can be found in an essential oil, teas, candles, and even lotions! To keep mosquitos away, fill a small spray bottle with water, 2 large spoonfuls of witch hazel, then add 10 drops of peppermint oil and shake ‘er up.
    - Like citronella, the powerful smell of eucalyptus interferes with the mosquito’s senses so that it can’t find its food.
    - Just eating garlic interferes with our pheromones and makes us smell different, making it hard for mosquitoes to find us.
    - Plant marigolds around your backyard to repel mosquitos. You could even trim the flowers and put them in a vase on your outdoor table, and mosquitos will leave you in peace.
    - Catnip contains nepetalactone, and scientists say its scent is 10 times stronger than your everyday bug spray.
    - This is another herb that’s good in the kitchen and for repelling mosquitos. Rosemary is super aromatic, which basically means it has a powerful but pleasant scent - and bugs hate it!
    - The most effective way to use sage against mosquitos is to add it to your outdoor fire.
    - Feel free to give the inside of your home protection from mosquitos by hanging dried mint or sprinkling clumps of it around the house or on outside surfaces.

I'm beginning to realize why others seem to have problems with mosquitoes but I never seem to. I use a lot of garlic, basil, sage a little rosemary sometimes and other things to flavor my pasta, toast, pizza and some other foods every few days or more frequently if I've the budget to make good food more often. Even when I don't have much money, I usually season my white meats and eggs for filling and more tasty meals with things like those. Turns out some things I like most, mosquitoes hate most. My preferred diet is mosquito armor?

Marigolds I'm glad made the list. Saw the power of those when at a summer camp had to work in a cement bunker for the power generator after the winter. The cool dark damp space was totally filled with mosquitoes which were quite hungry. As the trip included spring landscaping, had 2 flats of marigold starts. Slid them in the generator bunker and left the door open. 1/2 hour later the space was completely devoid of any mosquitoes. No spray or repellent needed to take care of batteries. replace the coolant and oil, etc in the space. Never seen a space cleared completely in 1/2 hour before without spray. Now I have marigolds, peppermint, and Lavender in my gardens along my roses.

Floss flowers are an annual Perennial flowers are those that continue to grow year after year after remaining dormant throughout the winter. Annuals typically are planted in the spring and summer months, bloom for the season, and then die. Gardeners often supplant perennial gardens with lively, colorful annuals. Annuals are also commonly used as borders and in containers and flower boxes to brighten up the landscape.

Thanks for this information! I use catnip for myself and my horses! I just let it grow all over and pick it whenever the mosquitoes are bad! Catnip also is. GREAT for BLACK FLIES & GNATS!!! All you need to do is crush up a handful and wipe inside your horses ears, face and body wherever gnats bite so bad it can bleed! The horses and dogs love it and so do I! I’m going to learn how to make my own essential oil because it grows prolifically, is free and effective! Maybe you can do a video on how to make your own essential oils! That would be great!

We use window screen. We built a porch and screened it in. We also built a free standing deck; put a pergola over it and screened the whole thing with clear plexi on the top. All expensive; but will last for years of enjoyment.
