New intro on this video looks great its cool to see a montage of all those guitars. Cool to see you doing some smaller guitar related mods as well as the full builds!
Great explainer Gio, many people are afraid to make the simpler mods and this demystifies yours! I made a tidy bit of extra pocket money with things like this, adding phantom power to MIDI pedalboards, extra footswitches inside the housing of multieffects instead of having them externally in a small pedal, all the same principles. And love the new intro!
Awesome explanation, definitely will do this mod, I have everything to do so, even the same attenuator, thanks. By doing this, the extension SP will still work under this config?, I run my ac15 with another speaker connected to extension SP in the back of the amp, will this speaker be attenuated too?
Thanks for the kind comment, I’m glad the video helped. That’s a great question because I don’t use the ext speaker but the ext speaker out won’t be attenuated by doing this mod that just places the attenuator in between the amp and cab speaker. If you follow the wiring trail from the amp to the ext speaker you will see that they are separate from the cab speaker. Hope that helps 👍
Well done Gio. Very neat job and a simple walk thru on how to accomplish the task. If you you got out to gig you would have no need for an attenuator (sez tha man with a rig taller than himself) being the rock n roll rebel you are. You would get all your "loud" out on stage!! 🤣🤣 So when does your next tour kick off?
🤣🤣 I can get my ‘loud’ out on the patio outside too, my closest neighbour is about a kilometre away! I would love to gig, but I don’t anyone looking for a seriously mediocre guitarist 🤣🤣
Nice, neat workaround. You now need to get the power soak mounted into the chassis 😬 how do you find the Bugera?I have toyed in the past with attenuation for mine; it’s so loud it’s unusable outside of a band situation so it’s just a spider farm in the garage at the mo which is a shame as it sounds incredible and I’d love to be able to demo builds with it
Thanks Jamie, the Bugera actually seems great. My favourite sound and where I spend the majority of the time is around 75% vol because I like to plug straight into the amp and get drive without pedals so this mod has proved invaluable. It still play reasonably loud (for home use) because I have no neighbours, probably somewhere around 90-95db so I’m sure it helps that I’m not attenuating a 100 watt amp by 90%. I tend to need to re EQ when it’s plugged in but that’s normal too.
@@TornelliGuitars thanks Gio, that’s really interesting and helpful, Being mid-60s, mine has no master volume so natural drive is out of the question in pretty much any conceivable situation 😂 I might see if I can find one to have a play with and see what it does to the tone and whether it’s viable.
I've only done this with audio circuits, but could you use an open/closed circuit type jack that would maintain the connection between amp and speaker until it's plugged into, interrupting the connection? It's a great mod but I'd be more comfortable if I could eliminate the danger of anyone ever unknowingly powering up the amp with no load.
What was the diameter of the drill bit that you used to drill the hole for the 1/4” jacks? I have the same Puretone jacks and I’m wondering if I need a longer jack as the lower wooden panel on the AC15 is thicker than the length of the jack. Thanks for posting this! Can’t wait to complete this mod.
Hi Evan, I’m not familiar with doing this on a stereo amp however I believe the JC40 is solid state so attenuating it wouldn’t have the same result as attenuating a valve amp.
Good idea, thanks. The spade connector way is great so you don't end-up cooking the wires or the speakers coil by mistake.👍😊
Thanks for the kind comment 👍

Thanks Tom, this was just a quick vid that I thought some people may find useful so normal service will be resumed soon!😂

Thanks Owen, I thought it may be one of those vids that comes in useful for people from time to time. Thanks for the comment on the intro too!👍
Awesome ! Im wanting to do this using a Jhs and a Vox Pathfinder 15.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a kind comment!👍

thanks for the update, i will share later how it went - me doing this mod
nice walk through Gio.
Thanks Bill!👍

@@TornelliGuitars Get you a lipo emergency battery, a converter and a granny cart and go out busking!!! Bring your builds for live demo's!!
Awesome video. A nice departure from the standard build videos!! New audience😀 ✌️🤍
Thanks my friend, yes it was a bit of a departure, who knows it may be of some help to others and yes maybe even a few more viewers!😀

Thanks I think I used a 22mm forstner bit for mine.👍
Thank you! I’ll be trying this soon. 👍
Why would you want a Vox amp to be quieter! Crank that thing! Only joking, nice simple mod. I've got a Vox AC15 as well and I love it.
🤣 only quiet when my wife is home!
