      But I must say , I definitely think they are sharper than the lab blues. The lab blues tug at my skin and these slice the hair smooth and clean. Again every person has different preferences though.

      Abhi K. I got 8 shaves out of one 7 o clock blade ....9 rupees for 8 shaves ...definitely better than 2.7 rupees for one shave with wilkinson sword

    My go to blade is the Gillette silver blue. But I finally tried one of these tonight and it was brilliant!!! Might be my new favorite, depending on consistency.

    These blades are my fav, although the gillette permasharp (green) blades are a bit smoother than these but less sharper. As of today in India Gillette Super Platinum are the best and sharpest blades

    I have a very tough beard and the Lab Blues tug on my beard while the Super Platinums don't. I definitely find them to be sharper than Lab Blue blades. GSB is the best blade for me in more aggressive razors and Feather's in mild razors.

    In order of priority .. (from a face and head shaver)
    1. Gillette 7 o'clock super platinum.
    2. Gillette Wilkison Sword
    3. Gillette 7 o'clock permasharp stainless.

    I really like these blades, these are easily available in India, I use these in my Merkur 37c, but get only 3-4 comfortable shaves, I have a very thick dense and tough beard and I shave daily with Merkur 37c razor and these blades.

      @@jonhawkins2374 Greens are available but not that smooth and sharp, I have tried yellow ones also those are good but not like these ones these are the best and high end blades by Gillette, for me these are better than Astras and Feathers Personas are not available in INDIA and I have not tried.

    I am not certain if anyone mentioned or not but have you tried the Gillette Platinum in the blue packaging? They look similar to the Silver Blue. They are both made in Russia. I found them to be as sharp or sharper than the 7 O'Clock Platinum but much smoother.

    I just ordered some in a variety pack. 7 o'clock, platinum and two other kinds of Gillette, my dad likes them. I liked the Asian blades i got with a really crappy safety razor online. anyway, have a great day, and I'm glad your video was an honest review..

    Hi Nick! I am going through and catching up on all your shave videos. One is better than the one before it! You're pure, clean and fun entertainment around the undeniably masculine ritual of shaving. I think you look very handsome wearing a mustache. However, in the end I am glad you shaved it off as well as the November beard. Sorry to disagree with your wife, my final answer is you look awesomely handsome clean shaven (and I have a feeling you know that!). One thing I wanted to suggest or ask is, did you ever think about expanding to include haircuts among your videos? You have the perfect hair, haircut and looks for it. It's a natural outgrowth of the shaving videos. I'm sure you'd be a natural at it too! Please let me know if I can provide any encouragement for the haircut videos ;-) Thanks for the awesome work and thank you for being so dedicated to it! It is greatly appreciated!

    Good blades..in India these are 100 are for $7.50 and most expensive Indian DE blades.

  • @Debraj1978
    @Debraj1978 2 роки тому

    In India, we get other cheaper blades as well, almost 1/5th th price of "Super platinum", even from same Gillette (Permasharp). But such cheaper blades can be used just once and cannot be reused. It looses its sharpness after 1 shave. On the other hand, I have used the "Super platinum" 4 times (for each blade) and it works fine.

    How many shaves would these last till you need to pop in a new one. And between this and the green Gillete 7'oclock super stainless which would you recommend? Thanks and great reviews btw. Your's is probably the only review available on Gilettes :) which is the only decent blade available in India.

    • @KINGMJ1990
      @KINGMJ1990 5 років тому

      You have to try all the blades to see which one suits you best. I use Gillette Wilkinson Sword ( India and China), 7 o clock platinum and super platinum. Super Platinum works best for me. You can use a blade for 3 shaves if you are a regular shaver. Otherwise you can use a new one every time you shave, if you shave casually once a week or so. All these blades are dirt cheap anyway.

    Great review nick! Yep +1 for a test using GSBs (Gillette Silver Blue) . Lots of love out there for them. I'm still cruising sites for a fair price on them. I haven't tried these personally but hear they have a nice balance of smoothness and sharpness.

    Hi Nick,
    I'm from India and interchangeably use this blade and the Astra SP. I have a feeling that both blades are same, just manufactured under different brands for different markets. Even the name of the two blades are same "Super Platinum". Both give me exact same shaves. Can you do a Astra SP vs Gillette Black comparison, specially putting the two edges under a lens and measuring the thickness of blade? I'm so curious to get some scientific data to prove what I feel.

    • @truegamer_007
      @truegamer_007 5 років тому +2

      I disagree, I've used both and they're very different. Astra is smoother but less sharp though I think it lasts longer. Gillette black is the only blade I've used till now which feels close to the feather in terms of sharpness but for much cheaper.

    • @ivermec-tin666
      @ivermec-tin666 4 роки тому

      Rohit, Astra was originally a Czechoslovakian blade brand made in Czechoslovakia. It was purchased, and is now made in Russia. 7 O'Clock was originally a separate brand. I do not recall it's original country. It was purchased by Gillette, and AFAIK all of the blades labeled 7 O'Clock are manufactured in India.

    Hey Nick. I noticed you set up the razor and kinda took your time after applying the lather to your face. If I don't immediately jump into shaving after applying lather, the last quadrant doesn't dissipate, but it does dry out quite a bit (almost chalky), even if I make sure to add plenty of water when building the lather. Does this ever happen to you? Am I doing something wrong?

    • @Angelwrites
      @Angelwrites 8 років тому

      this is caused by quality of soap and quality of lather.

    I much prefer the Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharp Edge (Yellow pack). My favorite Gillette blade is the Gillette Silver Blue. There's also the Gillette Super Stainless (Green pack). Gillette/Proctor & Gamble also owns The Art of Shaving shops, and P&G of course, owns the venerable Old Spice brand. Now if only they would announce they're reissuing all their classic stainless steel DE razors in a limited series, made in the USA with the original specs.
    I really can't tell how good a blade is for me until I finish the XTG 2nd pass on my neck. I then have to repeat a modified XTG during the touch-ups. A smooth blade will leave me with little irritation. I've yet to have a close, nick free shave on the neck with the Gillette 7 O'Clock black. I can avoid the nicks only if I'm willing to give up a BBS shave for the neck with the Gillette Blacks.
    Nick, I'd eventually like to see you try the Personna Medical Prep blade. Have you ever tried the Old Spice lime of shaving creams in tubes that are made in India? There's lime, regular and musk. The Old Spice Musk aftershave that's only produced in India for P&G my Rubicon is excellent.

    hey Nick great videos love learning about wet shaving / de shaving de shaving. I'm fairly new in to the Hobby and haven't ordered a sampler blade pack yet. right now I'm just trying to get the hang of things. I'm currently using a 1964 Gillette Tech and some blades I got at the local Walmart ( Gillette Platinum Plus de blades) which I'm sure a lot of people that are getting into the hobby first buy because that's all that is available unfortunately.
    so what my question is if you could get time to do a blade review on the Gillette Platinum Plus blades from Walgreens or Walmart. so we can hear the opinion of someone with more experience and de shaving thanks again Nick hope you have a good week!

    Gillette's don't work for me , Black , blue and the whole damn rainbow. Wilkinson and persona drag and pull. I go with Astra , Polsilver and Shark The Derby premium are coated and last longer. The Treet Carbon is a great blade and has been around forever.

    I got 100 gillette 7 o'clock super platinum double edge safety razor blades of 7.05 US Dollars from a store near my home. Online products are too expensive.

      I live in India🇮🇳
      I didn't bargain🙄
      I just asked the shopkeeper that, "what's the price🤔of these Gillette 7 o'clock super platinum double edge safety razor blades"?
      He replied, "100 blades are for 7.05 US dollar".

      @@charlessamuel8243 Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you haggled. In the USA, we don't even know how to haggle. When an item is priced aggressively (lower than typical or usual in the big shops) we would call that bargain pricing. It just means a good value for the money.
      It makes sense that these should be less expensive in India. The supply lines should be shorter (fewer middle men), less shipping and distribution costs. At that price they are cheaper than Astra SP's.

    Gillette India has overtaken Wilkinson India. So there is only one Company left, that dominates 90-95 % of the global shaving blade market. Sad story. More competition please.

    I think the lab blues are garbage imo. The writing on the lab blues as well is quite off putting its smeared and alot of times just like two letters. So for an extra 2 dollars would i pay to have my blades double wrapped and clear lettering that looks professional yes all day everday. 2 extra dollars over a hundred blades is nothing

    • @KingofWisdom

      In my experience, the Labs suck. My one hundred pack is 90% duds, it seems. They're not smooth at all. Rough and irritating, like a blade that's way too dull. They don't shave closely either. I've used Feathers, so I know how close a sharp blade shaves, and the Labs are nothing like Feathers. Labs are garbage.
