GOD bless you brother. glad to see you are enjoying yourself. i'm an old woman who knows NOTHING about mechanics, but i'm really captivated by our little project here. the internet is so amazing, half the fun is reading the comments of people who been there, done that. we're gonna get this thing done yet! Merry Christmas to all!
@Beauty for Ashes I'm w/you! lol I have NO clue about mechanics but I'm enjoying watching Mark fix this 🚜!!! Who else do we know that can STILL look good w/a unibrow?✌💕🎄 We're behind ya Mark! We're going to watch you put this together!
Thank you for sharing your persistence. I think that ability to stick to a project, to carry on when others might throw up their hands in defeat, is a large part of the awesome Carriker character.
All your effort is not in vain I am finally learning auto mechanics! Every success, twist, turn and mistake adds to my understanding of how my car works. I sincerely thank you. MERRY CHRISTMAS MARK. 💞🤗
I’m from big ranch in Oklahoma and it has always amazed me how naturally it was for my dad and brother to fix everything from tractors, cars, build barns. It’s freaking amazing how you all know this stuff. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas! Old tractors can be a pain in the ass. But, like you said, no farmer, no problem. The little tab you lifted up in the end of the starter was to put oil in so the bearing will stay lubricated. All old stuff was made that way. They used solid bearings with a swirl intention for the oil. They didn't have many sealed, roller bearings back in the day. The cotton looking stuff in the home was to hold oil, so, it kinda dripped in. The old steam engines were covered with them..requjring daily oiling. Give the Mrs. and the kids a hug for me! Mark, you're great!
All I want to know is are you able to control the pain? If you can, then you can own each day. Of course, I’m sending a lot of love to you and to those who love you.
I love your reminder - this IS supposed to be fun! I am enjoying this vicarious project. I’ll add my “2 cents” to the gofundme when I get paid. Thanks Mark!
Do a live stream w/other folks who know about tractors! Or a "day on the ranch w/Mark" for those few who DO know to help! I'd gladly pay $100 to come out & help if I knew! Hang in there Mark, we got ya!💓💕 #🚜GitErDone#
Merry Christmas Mark. This is my first UA-cam comment ever. I found your channel through your brother. I have a 8N too. A few years older than yours. Mine was my wife's Grandpa's tractor and it's also the same as what my grandpa had. It's good to see you getting dirty in the shop even though you're not feeling well. I'm praying for you, your bride, your beautiful kids, your family, and if course... the 8N. When you get it running, plan a 8N country cruise. I'd consider hauling mine down from Wisconsin to join you.
If you think about Mark if it was easy and you got it running over night you wouldn't enjoy it as much. So take your time and enjoy it. Have fun with it. 😊
@@beirnefarm8988 same here I have a 47 and a 52 8N. The 47 is a low serial number for the 8N and the 52 is all original parts even the original Marvel carburetor.
@@timvatter2559 my 860 is a 57 my dad bought new. I'm not sure what year the 8n is but it has the front mount distributor. It is at the farm in PA and I'm in FL for the winter. (That age thing again) MERRY Christmas!
Hi Mark those are the kind of spark plugs that don't have one of those Gap guard cardboard rings on them they just float around in the box and make their own Gap or close the gap lol😊😎
Hi Mark I loved the still shots at the end! Glad you aren't stressing about the extra work. I to am enjoying these tractor videos. I like watching you work through things as you go. What an inspiration in so many ways! I'm praying for you and your family. Merry Christmas and God bless you!
7:22 I think those are called oil filler wick caps. Before bearings were sealed, they used to have a cotton wick that was against the mating surface and that little cap had to be filled with a little bit of oil to keep the bearings lubricated! You're dad knows exactly what those are for!
Hey Mark! Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 🔔🍻... My dad said he thinks those little “door thingies” are use to add oil. They looked like what you’d find on oil furnaces
Hey humble homie. Wtg your Still Making progress. Shes gonna needa thorough gone through. Been sitting for a couple minutes... Way to go deep....full respect!

We love you very much . Hoping you enjoying your family and holidays. God bless keep your faith. See you for our fam meetup on the other side one day. Xoxo
I like the cute little doors. Checking to see the squirrel is running fast enough? Are the doors where you put in a match and light the pilot light? (Stupid attempt at humor.)
Matk, find a old wooden parts box. Save all the old parts to rob from later on. Your knuckles look great.... no blood!!! lol You'll be concrete farming in the neighborhood in no time. Looks good .. how are ya feeling? w.w.
I watch your brothers videos as often as I can and ran across yours since I subbed a while back. Just wanted to let you know that I am praying for you and your family. You and your brother have great content and are such great wholesome guys. Thank you for sharing and I will continue to pray for miracles to reign down for you and your family and for God to touch your lives like never before.
Mark loved your method for gapping spark plug looks good. Classic with old tractors. Now having collected 12 tractors of my own. Merry Christmas 🎄 to you and your family.

One the first day of Christmas my friend Mark gave to me...One Broken Starter in a Ford 8N!
I don’t know crap about a tractor but I love watching these and I’m learning a couple things 👍🏼
Christmas Day watching Mark work on his tractor. A normal Texas Christmas.

Merry Christmas From Dallas. My family and I have been praying for you. If you need anything let me know.
the little doors are oil ports to lubricate the bearings underneath.
I was really hoping that's what they are. That's what I've been using them for, on several different things!
From one Marco to another.....¡FELIZ NAVIDAD, FELICES FIESTAS! Que tengas un prosperos año!
Merry Christmas. !
Merry Christmas!
Mark you're cuter than a puppy!👍👍👍🙏🙏🎄🎄🎄🍾🍾👍💖💖💯💯🐸🐸

In case it hasn't been said yet.....those little doors are for putting a couple drops of oil into the bearings.
Merry Christmas Mark and Family! You remind of Dad, he could fix anything.
the little doors are oilers for the bearings
Merry Christmas!! Luv this old tractor! It reminds me of the one grandpa had on the farm in the 60's.
That old Ford is just about bullet proof, and will be just fine.. keep on keepin on..
Oh well its what I call trial and error or a learning process . We are learning as we go. You will get it I'M sure. Merry Christmas and God Bless!!!
You have so much patience and don't swear under your breath, how do you do that 😂😂😂

The little spring caps on the generator and distributor are for oiling the bearings.
yep, you beat me to it
We are showing our age by knowing what those are!
Tim Vatter Yes Tim, we are, I'm in my 60s. Both my tractors have the oiler doors.

Exactly. “Custom Gap”. Or “Natural Gap”. Just never go with the “Carried by USPS Gap”
Merry Christmas blessings
It's a minor setback. No worries ! I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Grab a magnet, a beer and a whole lot of luck..... patience works also
Maybe you could reach in the hole with a magnet to retrieve the parts? The extension kind of magnet.
I spy a tiny mid 90’s impala :). Or one stunning caprice.
@@mcarriker5 yes it's a 1995 Impala SS that I have owned since 1998. It's the dark cherry metallic.
