I started with a blank center (pentagon shape). I also did four blocks at a time, chain piecing each one, then cutting, then ironing. It seems to go faster this way. I used only scraps. Then I added solid blocks in between. I plan to donate it as a charity quilt! Enjoyed your video!
Hi Patti, Thanks for sharing your comment. Crazy Quilt blocks are so much fun because you can create them so many different ways :) Thanks for watching!
Sounds like it will be gorgeous when you get it finished. Whoever receives it will be very fortunate indeed to be able to wrap up in something made with love by a complete stranger.
Nicely done video 😃
The funny thing (odd,). My grandmother never had all this special rulers and the rotary cutter or cutting boards that spin... Grandmother and all those pioneer quilters did without all those things....and their Quilte were beautiful and are still with us today.....as the lady said money money money. For what can be done with simplicity
Hi Trayne1837, This technique is not meant to replace the techniques our ancestors did. It is simply another version of constructing this block and taking inspiration from the original creators. As quilters today, we have the access to use templates or not, and to use a machine or not. We are fortunate that way. Thank you for commenting and remembering our quilting ancestors. We do appreciate you watching :)
It is still fun to watch anyway Ladies!!
Hi Sharon, Thank you for commenting and watching! :)
I agree. I always learn something. Their tutorials are especially good.

More rulers, more money, money, money, so over all these expensive tools and shipping.
Pat Frontuto You can make your own templates from card stock. I found the ideas very informative, I now have an idea of what to do with some old ties I recently found of my father.
Why can we just sew pieces together and add on around then square it up......no no no,,,,they want money....lol
There are many UA-cam videos that show how to make a crazy quilt sans a template. At first I wanted templates, but, after watching the videos, I now have the knowledge and confidence to make my own. Try rmhitsman's video. Good luck.
Maybe look at these for ideas. You can always make your own templates and get a ruler from walmart. Use your imagination debbie downer.
Pat Frontuto use cardboard and make your own template.
