I love this, and just happen to have an unbleached version of the paper I was going to use for hand journal making. Have you ever used velvet or silk/satin in crazy quilting? I just wondered how the different materials would work together. Thank you for a terrific video :) I have saved it for future reference and subscribed.
Thanks for the sub! 💙💙💙. I appreciate the support ☀️I have never used true velvet or 100% silk in a quilt. I did run across a really old quilt once, and the silk fabrics had worn away in many places. So it seems that the silk was not as durable as the cotton. When I was a kid I had a crazy quilt that did have velvet and satin in it. My favorite, but it got lost in a move. ☀️
@ thank you for that. It seems like it would be fun to mix a match, but I think for my first one I'll keep it safe lol. -I hate that yours got lost in the move. I bet it as a child that would've been fun to feel all the different textures and see all the colors... who am I kidding? As an adult I would like the textures and colors😁👍🏼
My first time to find your channel. Very pretty block. The moving of the camera was hard for me, but the building of the block was a learning experience so I continued watching. I liked that you didn't just go around the block in order. I wasn't sure if that would work but I see that it does, so now I won't be shy about trying that. LOL
Nice tutorial; love your fabrics! Perhaps it's already been suggested (I didn't read all of the comments), but if you cut your original piece of paper fmdown to 8 1/2" then BEFORE you rip off the paper, you can square up your block using the paper side of your square instead of fussing over whether you've got 8 1/2" on any side...just trim the fabric to match the edg of the paper and THEN rip off the paper.
Thanks for your kind comments! I find that the newsprint paper tends to shrink up a little bit, the more it gets stitched. So it doesn't quite stay the original size. To get the exact size consistently I always trim from the front of the fabric. This also allows for fussy cutting exactly where I want to cut (the dragonfly corner for example). Have a great day! ☀️
@@sunbeamfabricart- I totally get it now. I use a heavier weight paper so I haven't had that issue (yet), but I totally understand your logic now. Again, nice tutorial!

@@sunbeamfabricart keep up the good work! We need people like you who are generous with their time and skills. Going to use the technique to make some Christmas stockings.
I am a retired nursery school teacher and we went to our local news paper and asked for their “end of the roll”paper! They can’t run right to the end of it and just threw it out! It was perfect and we just cut the size we needed for the children. This might save you some money! 🥰
I appreciate your video but you really can do this blocks without paper. I know it because it’s how I make them. Just sew the fabrics and measure with a square ruler until you get to the size you want.
@ If you just place the square ruler on top of the block after you press every piece you add, you see how much you still need to add. On another hand, if you need the paper, why don’t you just cut the paper the size of the block you want to obtain ? Why draw a line and struggle to see if you cover up to the line or not ? Really ! Cut the paper the size of your desired block and follow that. Best wishes to you !

Cuando se decide hacer un tutorial, lo más recomendable es conseguir quién sostenga la camara y grabe el tutorial, o conseguir un trípode o cualquier elemento que la sostenga. Es muy bueno el tutorial, pero el vídeo no lo es.
I so very much agree. This is hard to watch. I know cost is always a factor so it is hard if you arent able to afford it we the viewers appreciate it
Its awesome...such beautiful colors. Im making one
❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏
🥰❤️😀
Thanks Rachel! 💛💛💛
Definitely need to use a tripod for your camera
Sorry, i suffer from sea sickness and tried, but couldn't watch. Forwarded to the end and it is a beautiful block.
Sorry to hear that!! One of my early videos. Much better now. Try this one! Crazy Quilt! | Old Sheets | Scraps and Stash! | Use Scraps | STASHBUSTER PROJECTS | Quilt in a day

@@sunbeamfabricart so much better. Thank you so much for the videos. I hope you didn't take my comment as criticism, but I have troubles on a rocking chair. Lol. Crazy, I used to love roller coasters and all the others.
Catching up on some of your older videos. Your voice is very soothing and the music is not jarring. New subscriber!!
That’s great! ☀️💕
Was just trying to work out if you were a talented one handed quilter and then you mentioned holding the camera 🫣beautifully demonstrated
Thank you! I don't often film one-handed any longer, now that I have a good tripod. ☀️
I wish I could watch but I’m getting motion sickness
Thanks for trying! 💛💛💛. I filmed that one back in November 2022 when I was just getting started! I definitely have a tripod now! 🤣😇. You might enjoy one of my newer videos: ua-cam.com/video/-qDZosRPlS4/v-deo.html
Why do a handheld when you have a tripod to hold the camera steady? One minute or less for an effective intro; yours is more than three minutes.
Thanks for your comment.☀️
Видно что вам не очень удобно одной рукой работать другой снимать процесс .Но огромное вам👏👍💐 спасибо это то что мне нужно было.Скажите пожалуйста если нет таких цветных тканей 😕 , какие можно использовать?
Thank you! Please use the fabric that brings you joy!
Please record with sound louder. We can always turn it down but not up.
Sure thing! 💛
Loved the technique but I started feeling sea sick! Your explanations were great, but the camera moving was distracting. Thanks for the ideas.
Noted! You're quite welcome! This was made before I purchased a tripod! I appreciate your kind comment.
@@sunbeamfabricart keep up the good work! We need people like you who are generous with their time and skills. Going to use the technique to make some Christmas stockings.
@@davinawoods8319 Oh how fun! Thank you so much!
❤ your idea, but the one hand camera was making me ill
Thanks! ☀️ working on that!
A tripod would make your video less wonky, like the paper piece idea
Noted! Thanks for tuning in! Have a great day.
I am a retired nursery school teacher and we went to our local news paper and asked for their “end of the roll”paper! They can’t run right to the end of it and just threw it out!
It was perfect and we just cut the size we needed for the children.
This might save you some money! 🥰
Great tip!☀️🌸
Are you holding a camera while you're trying to sew with one hand
Yes! Have a great day! ☀️
The camera motion makes me dizzy! Great tutorial, though.
Noted, and working on it. Thanks for watching.
Where is your other hand?
I'll check on that. :-). Thanks for watching!
Keep the camera still.
Thanks for the feedback.
Why would you make a crazy quilt on paper it can't be washed?
Hi Debbie. ☀️. Take a look at this video, and skip ahead to about 16:50 to see how I tear the paper off. ua-cam.com/video/H_TqLC0E4v0/v-deo.html
Nice colours but camera moving around to much 2 hands beter than one
Thanks!
I appreciate your video but you really can do this blocks without paper.
I know it because it’s how I make them. Just sew the fabrics and measure with a square ruler until you get to the size you want.
Absolutely! 👍. I like to know how much more to add, which is why I like a foundation. I’ve made blocks without for sure. 👍
@
If you just place the square ruler on top of the block after you press every piece you add, you see how much you still need to add.
On another hand, if you need the paper, why don’t you just cut the paper the size of the block you want to obtain ? Why draw a line and struggle to see if you cover up to the line or not ? Really ! Cut the paper the size of your desired block and follow that. Best wishes to you !
pretty blocks but made me seasick!😐
Thanks for your comments. I am definitely working on that!
🙏
☀️
Love the idea but the movement of the camera was unfortunately way too much.
Thanks for watching! Definitely working on that.
Excellent teaching but you can’t hold the camera.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate the feedback. And I am working on that. 👍🏼💕
Stationary camera
Thanks! Definitely working on that!
