- In this uplifting short film, directed by Max Thurlow and Nick Trumble, Noisey meets 93 year old jazz pianist Edward Hardy. Ed was given a new lease of life and relief from dementia and depression, when his care home discovered he was a talented pianist in his younger days. They reunited him with his ex-band members for a special performance, which proved the power of music for people suffering cognitive disorders.

I am fortunate to be able to go to our local Nursing Home here in Wyoming, and play for the residents. They seem to really enjoy the music, and look forward to us coming again. Finally after two years of not being allowed to play in the nursing home, we are once again able to play. The 2 years were rough on many of them, but they can still smile and tap their feet or clap their hands. It's a win win for all of us. Band mates as well as the residents. Keep up your Great work!!!!
I am a Music Therapist and I know the power of music. It can reach into the deep recesses of the mind and pull things from our Memory that helps the Alzheimer patient and revive their memorys... This was a prime example ... Bravo to all who assisted in making this happen for Mrs. Ed Hardy!!! and his wife... what a blessing for all....
...as i always say, music makes everthing so much easier. The young dude is a hero.
My father was a musician (alto sax, clarinet, then accordion) And everytime I hear music I absolutely come alive! Good stuff!
Words fail me. Just delightful that this gentleman could once again connect with people thru music.
Beautiful, someone was peeling onions again, damn it. The dude who made this happen is a hero, simple as that 😊
Truely a Hero.... a young person, trying to make an earning... makes this happen. God Bless these young souls who take the time and change life for the less fortunate.
wonderful story, and a shout out to the young man who recognized the spark that would affect Edward.
The power of music is like non other.... its man's greatest creation...

Music is the key that unlocks mind body and soul What an uplifting story
Processing music and playing music also helps dementia in that it makes the brain use all processing areas. So it not only was good for his spirit, but good for his health and mind too. :)
Never underestimate the power of music and compassion. Thank you so much for sharing this inspiring video💓
This is a beautiful story! Thank you for Sam Kinsella! My husband has been diagnosed with FTD and this story has blessed my heart. Thank you.

Absolutely it does wonders for this type of person. I am a past musician of Piano accordian and do play at a older generation of people. I tie this in with a talk on photographs and my travels. They come alive with these things.
Beautiful and so worth the watch. Thank you for uploading
Georgia kn my mind is one of my all time favs!
Beautiful, music sure does have the power to heal and restore happiness.
Should've been longer, this brought a smile to my face. The world needs more positive videos like this. Really beautiful.
"Body And Soul" by John Coltrane heals me and I'm only 31. This absolutely moves me in ways I can't express, watching the very elderly and ill awaken to the sound of music. Music is indeed medicine. Love from Miami FL
Loved this. I wish this short bit had included more music and less yap, but the point it made was priceless.
Music is language for when words just aren't enough.
my club teacher let us watch this and i feel so touched and i wanted to cry.
Why 9 people would dislike this video is incomprehensible! To those 9 people, please explain .
Probably work higher up in Social Services. Some really demonic people work in that.
This touched me to tears! Thank you for sharing❤
"Here we are - stuck By This River - You and I - underneath the sky that's ever falling down, down, down -

Making a connection is so rewarding for both parties. Fantastic short film thank you!
this is so beautiful, i work within the geriatric community and i must say this was truly touching. All it takes is one person to go above and beyond for even just one patient. MUUUUCH LOVE XOXOX
All the rules and regulations put so many legal barriers in the way though, but so happy this somehow made it through the cracks to make that lovely man alive again.

Why put music over the performance at the end??
jammyspreadd they probably wanted to make it more “viral” contents so put better music over the actual music.. also the applaud sounded like it’s from sound effect sample. It’s vice.
@@chesschess7553 It was due to licensing and rights sadly. No folly sound was added for the applause either. Thanks for watching.
wow
framing is good
The power of music is beyond your imagination, put it in the wrong hands and t can be dangerous.
im 23 & im the same way
I had to punch the wall to feel manly again
damn
How DARE the producer put music over the performance at the end? HOW DARE HE? It LITERALLY undermines the ENTIRE point of the video - and makes the entire point of the video the creator's EGO. HOW DARE HE!?
I wanted to love this video, but that just made me so mad, SO MAD.
🙊❤️
