I was in a NJHC band called MVA, and Braxton helped us get our first west coast shows. I ended up moving to CA shortly after. Fast forward, I ended up doing a bunch of artwork for Drain. Kinda feel like Braxton got my foot in the door to the CA scene which may have helped haha Funny enough, I did the art for Evil Finds Light, which Braxton and Colin are both in 😂 crazy to hear that was the day you guys met.
I'll admit as kid that grew up in one of the roughest neighborhoods of the Lisbon metro area in Portugal back in the 2000s, CM Punk was my introduction to the Straight Edge movement. I remember writing the "X" and "DRUG FREE" on my hands back in 5th and 6th grade. My 11yo dumbass really thought it was the coolest shit ever smh!😭 Fast forward to 2014 I officially became Straight Edge. But only during the pandemic that I dug deeper to the SXE movement and started listening to bands like Earth Crisis, Throwdown, Magnitude, XweaponX, Eighteen Visions, Bleeding Through (I don't think they count as SXE anymore). Love them all no matter what. As of today, as a 25 year old adult I'm proud to say CM Punk was a huge influence when it comes to Straight Edge and wrestling. Proud to consider myself as one. Also as someone that is the only SXE among my friends, I don't affiliate to the so called "hardliners" that go out there spread negativity. Coexistence is everything in this life no matter our differences.
got the opportunity to talk to this dude last night after their set in foco. extremely chill guy, we just talked about grind and powerviolence for a bit. he also showed a lot of appreciation for the local bands which opened for them, as did the rest of the folks in zulu. very good dude with an unrivaled guitar tone
Colin saying “real eater” in multiple episodes now is so funny to me. I’d like to think he doesn’t know the other usage, but it makes me laugh every time.
The happiest and nicest guy to bump into, also I was so happy when Fury got mentioned. He noticed I was wearing a Fury shirt in Birmingham (UK) before they played and proceeded to play nearly every song from Paramount on guitar.
My homies Game of Life opened up for Zulu at the Santa Cruz Vets Hall and I was moshing next to Braxton in the front left of the stage. Hella fun night
from 2001-2005 i was obsessed with street punk too. Lower class brats, global threat, wednesday night heroes, blanks 77. Then on to Crossover DRI, Municipal waste, Havoc, Beyond possession, The accused.
Man! I relate to Braxton so hard about not knowing what hardcore properly was. I remember (at the time) hating hating on most core music, then at the same time, seeing Madball on TV an thinking "this metal band is sick"! 😆 SO glad I figured it all out.
Such a great episode. Great to hear Braxton's knowledge on music - it's extensive!! Love the influences. Saw ZULU recently on Flatspot World Tour in London, UK and they killed it!!
I was sold on Zulu first listen of "ANT." Going into it not expecting Nina Simone next to raging pv/core shit and then ending with fuckin a capella "small axe," a casual listen turned into a genuinely moving piece of music quickly. Braxton and Zulu are gonna be just fine. When you bring that level of dopeness into the world I believe you become a gorgeous goose that's eternally glazed
As someone who unfortunately lives in the IE this is the most incredible episode of Hardlore I've seen. We're basically the same person and it's so fucking weird
Really sad that no one else said anything about the shirt but you. Annihilator is a great band. Schizo Deluxe is one of my favorite albums. But those first 3 albums. Alice in Hell, Never Neverland, and Set the World on Fire 👌🏻
Bro! Awesome interview! Zulu is the truth! I fully support the abolish white hardcore shirt and everything that came along because of it! As white coreman! We don’t have hardcore without the Bad Brains! But don’t act like you don’t know people would react to the shirt. The shirt was a necessity and was designed to offend people that should be offended. Stand by the shirt fully brother! Needs to be said! Love all y’all just my stupid 2 cents!
This dude was going so hard for EVERY set at S&F
If Zulu is on the bill, you can count on Braxton being in the pit
Colin really is Hardwuar lol

Wearing sunglasses the entire interview is a crazy power move
Love this. Longer than every Zulu set ever played combined.

Braxton is one of the coolest, down to earth dudes ever! I can talk to him for hours about glam metal!
My homies Game of Life opened up for Zulu at the Santa Cruz Vets Hall and I was moshing next to Braxton in the front left of the stage. Hella fun night

Really would’ve never predicted this guy was in over 450 bands
Everyone in ZULU are some of the nicest dudes I’ve ever had the chance of meet.
Shout out to the core kids who know what’s up with street punk. Ultimate tour was Bane, A Global Threat and Strike Anywhere perfect combo.
Unreal episode! Thank you!🖤

Fire in the Sky also created an unnecessary fear of aliens that torments me to this day. Thank you Signs for reigniting that fear, over again

Annihilator shirt goes hard
Really sad that no one else said anything about the shirt but you. Annihilator is a great band. Schizo Deluxe is one of my favorite albums. But those first 3 albums. Alice in Hell, Never Neverland, and Set the World on Fire 👌🏻
