  • With a few bunches of flowers and some fairly random small plants join flower farmer and florist Georgie Newbery of Common Farm Flowers as she creates a whole house full of flowers when she has guests coming for the weekend. With top tips for the kinds of vases she uses, the space the flowers can take, ideas for reusing afterwards, this is a great clip for people wanting lovely flowers to dress their house for the weekend. All British grown spring flowers in this mix because Georgie only uses British flowers in her floristry.
    Georgie offers several online demos and workshops that go into more detail about arranging flowers sustainably - starting with her Spring Hand Tie wrap demo in mid March and a Living Easter Wreath demo at the end of the month, with much more to come through the summer. You can see all the details of her flower arranging sessions here www.commonfarmflowers.com/col...
    If you're booking a place on our workshops or demos the website will ask you to choose a delivery date - any date will do! And if you can't join our sessions live then you are still very welcome to book as we send the recording and notes of the workshop out to everyone afterwards, so you can download the session and refer back to it as and when you need to.
    For an extended ad free version of this clip, all the info re 'the project,' and all Georgie's new clips with extra tips, news and regular live at 5s, do join her UA-cam club. You can join up here: / @theflowerfarmer

    This is the best kind of video, flower arranging and placement in the spaces. For non farmers this gives great ideas to add arrangements to our homes.

    I planted such a bowl a few years agoo in the same manner. But because it was an Easter display I popped a big ostrich egg in it too!

    The basin and pitcher are beautiful on their own but when filled with flowers are escalated as decorative accents to your home. Your guests will love them.

    I'm always sitting small arrangements around the house.
    I'm currently planning my lovely mums funeral flowers, she wanted one arrangement only so it needs to be as wonderful as she was.
    Only hope i can do her proud.
    Love your videos, always watch as soon as possible. 💐

    Georgie, you are like a replica of my self in that I make all these little and big arrangements and put them about my house in the same manner!!!! I am fortunate to have a plain pale cream bowl & ewer that my step- mom made in a ceramics class about 45 years ago...she's gone now...but I treasure the pieces and frequently use them as you've done with yours 🥰. There's just nothing like seeing flowers in room after room in a home!.....I noticed a log cabin quilt in one of your shots...do you quilt? It's what I do all winter here in Michigan 🇺🇸 to keep me sane until I can be outdoors growing flowers 💐 🥰. Thanks for a delightful post!!!

      Thankyou - my Mum Googie is the quilter - I made a clip about her sewing room a while back in September I think if you feel like scrolling back and having a watch - we have quilts in every room too! xxx

    I love these arrangements. I know you have used that pitcher before because I remember what a beautiful piece it is but I love the way you used the basin. I collect basins and pitchers I have 20+ of them and a few stray pitchers missing the basin. I now have a million ideas running through my head...lol. Gorgeous! God bless

    Lovely and springy! I am wondering if you are left handed? I was always encouraged to have jug handles on the right!?? I ran a china shop!
    I am inspired . Thank you

    • @theflowerfarmer
      @theflowerfarmer  Рік тому

      I'm not left handed - when I'm doing flowers for Number I Bruton every week I do think about the spout of the vessel and have it facing the fireplace (so to the right) when I make the piece - here I didn't think about it at all as it's just for my sitting room xxx

    I know that Swan Island Dahlias mows their dahlia fields to top off the dahlias (somewhere around 18" I think it was said). Can you do something like that to top off zinnias and other crops?

    • @theflowerfarmer
      @theflowerfarmer  Рік тому

      zinnias are annuals so need to be sown fresh every year. People often mow off their perennial tops towards the end of winter, leaving the mowings on the beds to mulch down. I lift dahlias to keep them super duper strong, healthy, large, bright, good condition etc x
